Backpacking along New Zealand's Te Araroa Trail is even more challenging than learning to pronounce the trail name... but that's exactly what Patrice LaVigne and her husband did in 2014. In her memoir "Between Each Step" she describes the journey in vivid detail, and in this conversation with Jamie she shares some of the behind-the-scenes details that make the book come alive even more.
Whether living in a dry cabin in Alaska, gearing up for a long distance backpacking trip, or weathering a global pandemic together, Patrice and Justin are committed to living a "life less ordinary" and embracing every adventure that comes their way.
Find Patrice's book on her website or connect with her on social media.

From the outside looking in, Emily Holland has had an amazing life. She grew up on a farm, has spent much time in outdoor circles, and is the post of a successful podcast, Nature Untold. Her story is laced with her experiences with alcohol and sobriety and how getting sober has shaped her.
She and Jamie talk about the importance of unconditional love, how the outdoors helped her work with her sense of worthiness, sobriety and therapy. This is an open, honest conversation that will have you considering all of the ways nature shapes you, the ways you check in and out, and safety in relationships.
From upstate New York, with a few pitstops in Brooklyn and Boston, and now based in Boulder, Emily is an avid trail runner, hiker, and general outdoors enthusiast. She's been writing and producing podcasts in the outdoor space for a few years and recently went sober in early 2020. With this new sobriety, she wanted to explore this topic and how it intersects with the outdoor community and industry. Her new podcast, Nature Untold, does just that through long-form interviews with people from the community.
Outside of her outdoor pursuits, Emily is a therapy enthusiast, dog mom, storyteller, lover of Oreos, and a big fan of pop music, more specifically, Ariana Grande.
Emily believes deeply in the profound importance of internal discovery and work. She is continuously trying to deepen her relationship with herself.

Ecotherapy is a combination of psychology and ecology. It focuses on the lived experience of those two streams of practice, rather than focusing on theory only. Kimberly Beck is a dedicated student and teacher of ecotherapy, walking her clients through ways that connect us both to place and one another.
She and Jamie have a fascinating conversation about the power of silence and reflection, the theory of "content, culture, and location" as the ways to create a therapeutic container, and the ways "we-consideration" of other-than-human beings can translate to healing in our own lives.
To learn more about the June 5-6 "Rewilding Your Work" ecotherapy training, and upcoming local herb walks and nature journaling classes, visit Kimberly's Website here.
*Please note: since this recording, the May "Rewilding Your Work" training has been cancelled.
