  • Ep 027: May I Offer You Some Feedback?

As leaders, we recognize that we deliver feedback and receive it in many different ways. Here's a tip you can apply and practice today that will assist you in delivering feedback. It is called the "FORMS" Feedback Model and as you practice this each day, notice the responses you start to get.  Feedback is a tool to provide awareness; not a torch to make people or results wrong. This is really important. It’s time to raise the bar on respecting one another, and I am going to put a period on that.

    FORMS Feedback Model

Factual - A factual act, not your interpretation or opinion.Observable - If you did not see or personally experience the situation, you are not able to give feedback, it's really just "hearsay." Respectful - Driven by creating working results and relationships, not characterizations or judgments.Measurable - Objective reality, it must be backed up with evidence. Specific - Not a generalization or assessment; define the specific area or incident in which feedback is being provided.

  • Ep 026: For the Love of Dance with Andrea Valero and Felicity Morales

Let’s dive deeper in choosing to take the lead and take action on what you are passionate about.  Passion is that thing that makes you feel alive, brings you joy, and when coming from passion and purpose compels you to move forward.  Passion is the thing that will allow you to get creative, stay out of the pity party when the curve balls come in, and passion will drive you to pivot and find another way.

We will move through a story of passion, pivot, and purpose, when life throws you a big curveball.  Sometimes those curveballs will have you dancing at the Pity Party, and we really can only stay there for so long.  What can we learn about ourselves through those curveballs, now that’s an interesting question.

Our guests today are two passionate gals, who love to dance, have fun, and create joy.  You are going to love hearing their story, and something tells me you will want to crank the music up and get your booty shaking.

  • Ep 025: The Final Quarter

Can you believe we are in the final Quarter of 2020, and half way through October?  This is just crazy making!! Today we are going to look at finishing this year strong and look ahead to 2021.  Even though there are so many uncertainties, it’s always a good idea to plan.

As a coach, this is the time of year when my clients and I look back on the results that were created throughout the year, we look at what we hit, where we needed to pivot, what worked, what did not work, and all the things we learned along the way.  It is a powerful exercise. And I highly recommend you do this. I do this with my business clients, my entrepreneurs, as well as those working on self-improvement.  And don’t pass up those personal outcomes, they are equally as important, because we are whole people, so take that holistic approach.

I’ve always looked at October as a great time to revisit the outcomes and goals we set back in January and do something today that I know my future self will thank me for.  It truly looks a little different or maybe a lot different this year, and I know there are so many things we have learned along the way. So take the time to acknowledge them, the lessons are important.

  • Ep 024: From Derailed to Redirected with Mindy Kay

Today we are looking at “Leader’s Don’t Wait” from another lens.  And this lens is called “surrender”.  And that may seem the opposite of what we think “Leader’s Don’t Wait” sounds like in our heads, so let’s explore that a bit.  What does it mean to surrender?

We’ve talked before that we get to choose what success means to us, we are free to choose our experiences in our life, and what supports that is the freedom to choose an attitude that supports us.  And sometimes it is about surrender.  And surrender means to let go essentially, to accept what is so (think of the circumstances in your life).  This does not mean that I am letting my circumstances lead and drive my life, rather surrender is accepting what is so and making choices to support us in moving through them.

It could have to do with supporting your mental, emotional, and physical health and trusting your natural knowing that “something has got to give” and choose YOU.  When we surrender to what is so, we can remain neutral (and what that means is we may not like it, but we can address it, we can look objectively at it, we can be in ownership and accountable for it.  From there we can clearly make choices that support our purpose and vision for our life in that moment.

Often, we are going 100 miles per hour, we don’t stop or pause to reflect on what we need right now, to be the best version of our self so that we can be in service to our self (and that is not selfish by the way) everyone say that with me right now, taking care of me is not selfish!  Because when we do take care of our self, then we can serve others. Trust your knowing.

In this week’s podcast we will hear from Mindy Kay who I’ve known for many years. I met her in a leadership training I was facilitating and coaching, watched her step into being a certified coach, and have had the absolute pleasure of being a coach for her as she served on many leadership teams.  She has a giant heart, loves to serve and is a great coach.  She will share her story with all of you by trusting her knowing, surrendering, and what she is creating.

  • Ep 023: The Possibility of the Pivot with Ali Goff

Purpose answers the question “why” and it’s a powerful one, one that guides you, one that helps you remember why something is important and on days that are hard, compels you to do the thing you want to do anyway.  Vision answers “what” do I want, what do I see, and will also compel you to keep going.

The funny thing about Vision is you will declare it, and get started on creating it, and by the time you get there, you will look back and the road to getting there won’t look anything like you thought it would.  This is important because so many times, we don’t take action toward our vision, because we make up that it will be hard, I’m not enough, I don’t know how.  And I promise, and you will hear this from this week’s guest, just keep going, bits of action daily matter, you won’t have all the answers, there will be curveballs, and know this, you are capable and resourceful, and your vision matters.

Leaders don’t wait, I believe this in my bones.  Leaders are willing to leap and weave the net on the way down.  They are willing to create, fail, learn, grow, and are super persistent, and when circumstances get loud, they pivot.  I’m excited for you to hear from our amazing guest Ali Goff.  Listen up for an amazing retreat she is offering for women leaders, you don’t want to miss this!

  • Ep 022: Owning Your Story, and Making it Your Purpose with Hope Bagwell Reasons

In today’s episode we will explore the leadership principle that is a non-negotiable in creating what you want in life. And that principle is PURPOSE. God has a plan for us, and it is revealed in our purpose. I know purpose has been talked about a lot through the years, and so simply put think of purpose as answering an important question and that question is “WHY”, sometimes you hear it as “MY WHY”, what’s your why for… you can fill in the blank, and then take it a step further and explore why something is important to you.

Purpose guides you toward something, on the days that are tough, it will move you to do it anyway, despite how you feel. Think of purpose as a rudder on a boat, without it we would float around aimlessly, but with the rudder you move in the direction you are meant to go. The same is true with purpose, and we are here for a purpose.

When we have events in our life that are unimaginable, purpose will help you find meaning, when we can’t understand the reason. Today’s guest has a powerful story of owning her story and turning it into her purpose and contribution.

In today’s episode we are taking self-care to the next level with our guest April Likins, who is a IIN and Duke University trained Health Coach and brings us a wealth of knowledge and resources for reducing anxiety and boosting our immune system.

We are in stressful times. Are you taking care of yourself in a way that is looking at what your priorities are in your life, and how do you set up boundaries to protect them and have them work?

How do you reduce stress and anxiety? And are we thinking about our immune system?  Are we thinking about our mind, body, spirit? Are we holding that as a priority in our life? Are we caring for self, so that we can help others? So that we can create the impact we want? It starts with taking care of YOU. I am a big fan of self-care, it is non-negotiable because we matter.

  • Ep 020: Happiness First with Shannon Sennefelder

Sometimes taking the lead in your life will require being resilient. Resilient people are aware of situations, their own emotional reactions, and the behavior of those around them. Another characteristic of resilience is the understanding that life is full of challenges, and sometimes unimaginable ones.

My guest today is a woman who exudes resilience, she is vulnerable, authentic in her feelings, and has found meaning through the loss of her beautiful daughter. Today we are going to be talking about surviving the loss of a child, it is unimaginable, it is a hard one, and it is also powerful and inspiring to experience the meaning Shannon found, and what she is creating in her beautiful daughter Kaylan’s honor.

  • Ep 019: Happy With an Eye Roll

I was recently in virtual training and I heard “Human beings require 3 things to be happy”

    1. Someone to love

    2. Something to do

    3. Something to look forward to

Now I have heard this many times before but for some reason this stopped me in my tracks and the tears started rolling down my face. I remember I wrote it down; explore this and why in the world was this making me cry? And why now? And when has it before? And am I happy?

I mean I come off as a pretty positive person and one might think that means of course she is happy, but am I? Am I really? And the answer to that was NO. I’m not happy and I haven’t been for a while... mic drop. In this episode we will take a deep dive into happiness, get real and work a strategy to bring the joy back.
