Follow my account itsdariacooper Want to Enter the Chat?In this conversation, my childhood friend and former gymnastics teammate, Taylor and I discuss her journey as an integrative health practitioner and physical therapist assistant. We reflect on our friendship and the different phases of life we have experienced together.
Taylor shares her personal experiences with injuries and how they led her to pursue a career in physical therapy. She also discusses her own health struggles and how they inspired her to start her own business, Better at the Roots, focusing on integrative nutrition, whole body wellness and hormonal health. We emphasize the importance of taking a holistic approach to health and wellness, considering the body as a whole and addressing underlying issues rather than just treating symptoms. We also reflect on the importance of listening to your body and making choices that support your well-being.
Taylor also discuss her own approach to working with clients, emphasizing the importance of starting with foundational changes and working towards personalized protocols. She highlights the need for education and awareness around women's health and hormones, and expresses her desire to teach younger women about these topics. I conclude by inviting listeners to attend the upcoming event, 'Spill the Tea,' where myself and Taylor will be sharing more information on women's health and wellness.

In this solo episode, I open up about my own mental health journey, including my experiences with intrusive thoughts, family systems, miscarriage, and loss. I emphasize the importance of storytelling and normalizing life experiences to create community and understanding. I discuss my upbringing, struggles with communication and self-doubt, and the impact of being a competitive gymnast. I also share how therapy has helped me process and heal from a miscarriage, navigate unhealthy relationships, develop self-awareness and better communication skills.
Lastly, I highlight the value of movement, creating safe spaces, and practicing self-compassion in helping me get out of my head. If any of this resonates with you, I hope you feel seen and less alone!

In this episode, Kassidy Quadrozzi and I discuss our personal experiences with drinking and why we have chosen to stop. We talk about the challenges of navigating social settings without alcohol and the pressure to drink. Together, we also touch on the importance of finding like-minded people who are also sober or sober curious.
The conversation highlights the need for support and understanding in this journey and the potential for personal growth and self-discovery. Building a community of like-minded individuals is crucial in the journey of sobriety and sober curiosity. Surrounding yourself with friends who are on the same page, even if they haven't stopped drinking entirely, can provide support and understanding. Creating spaces and events that are alcohol-free can help people feel comfortable and connected. It's important to find acceptance and authenticity in these spaces, where you can show up as your true self without the need for alcohol. Exploring sobriety allows you to rediscover who you are and connect with others who are on a similar path.

In Part 1 of this conversation, I introduce Jill Manos, a yoga therapist and advocate for mental health and the LGBTQIA+ community. Jill shares her journey of healing, discomfort, and holding space for others utilizing Yoga Therapy. We reflect on a yoga class we took together and how it created a lasting memory of comfort and joy.
In addition, we emphasize the connection between mental and physical health and the need to acknowledge and explore discomfort. Yoga therapy provides a space for inquiry and reflection, allowing individuals to be seen and heard without the pressure to fix or change. We also discuss the significance of anger and the importance of being present and self-aware.
Jill shares two impactful and personal stories as well. One of her late father, Ernie, whom she'll always remember empowered her to value herself more. And the second, a more recent experience at a public concert with her girlfriend, Kayla, in which she had to practice her ability to hold space for discomfort and turn it into something more positive.
