May 16, 2023Slow down & get more done (Working with intention)The art of working hard, patiently & properly. Why are we here? Todays episode could help you lose the weight, build the business, make the money, whatever you current goal is.. by helping you be more aware of a little mistake most of us make when we try and tackle new goals! Most of the times when we want to change something, we hyper fixate, get pumped, and fucking dive in. But as most of us know, those changes are quick, all consuming, and short lived. Most of us find ourselves right back where we started. There has got to be a better way. Well, I think I am finding it.. and I want to share that with you. Let me tell you what I have been experiencing, and then we can boil it down to an ultra relatable concept, together.⬇️⬇️⬇️Watch this episode and many more on my Youtube channel! 👀Instagram/ Braxtongilbert...more39minPlay
May 08, 202321 days no P*RN | Ep 44Last week I talked about quitting porn, and how all easy access forms of dopamine can wreak havoc on your life when you are trying to be responsible, driven, and disciplined. We talked about how dopamine is like an Easter egg with a reward inside and how life is structured in a way that natural rewards (or Easter eggs) are hidden behind things that we do that are good for us. Sex, food, water, exercise, work, etc. We also talked about how the Easter egg hunt of life is tough, and if you have access to get Easter eggs without the work, you would start to be less and less interested in your life, and become an egg addict..I wanted to structure last week’s conversation in a way that could be relatable to people with any kind of easy dopamine habit, so that we can all benefit. This week, I want to hyper focus on one in particular. Pornography. And if porn is something that you feel is harming your life, I want to inspire you to give it up, like I am.⬇️⬇️⬇️Watch this episode and many more on my Youtube channel! 👀Instagram/ Braxtongilbert...more34minPlay
May 01, 2023EASY dopamine and it's destructive effect on MOTIVATIONToday I want to talk about why I am officially stopping watching pornography, and more broadly about any and all forms of easy-access dopamine and how it can reel havoc in your life when it comes to trying to stay disciplined, organized, and responsible. Dopamine is like an Easter egg. Running around, climbing up trees, looking in bushes are all difficult challenging things to do. They require effort. If you went out looking for candy filled / or money filled eggs, and you didn’t find any, you would stop pretty quickly, and the game would be over. But if you found one after a little searching you would feel excitement to keep looking, and then finding another would still make you want to keep playing. Essentially, the eggs are a reward for playing the game, for participating in the hunt. They keep you engaged and interested in playing. This is how your brain works with dopamine. There are things that are beneficial for you to do, eating, sex, exercise, yoga, etc. So your brain hides a little candy filled egg on the other side of completing these tasks! You do the task you get the egg. With technological innovation, we have been able to find ways to get Easter eggs without any work at all. (Or barely any)⬇️⬇️⬇️Watch this episode and many more on my Youtube channel! 👀Instagram/ Braxtongilbert...more43minPlay
April 24, 2023Workaholic Recovery | Updating my "fuel"I lost my drive for work, and pretty much decided that the whole “work guy thing” was not what I wanted to be. Now, after taking some time away, I have achieved a clarity that has allowed me to see how I didn’t lose my drive for work, I was just using a fuel-source that was a dedicate old, and it was time for a recalibration.⬇️⬇️⬇️Watch this episode and many more on my Youtube channel! 👀Instagram/ Braxtongilbert...more39minPlay
April 17, 2023I'm using work as an ESCAPE (not good)This week has been so tough for me. I have felt the URGES to go and get back on the workaholic / sex-addict train. However, I have felt so much love and presence with my relationship, family, hobbies. But there is a part of me that feels like LIFE SUCKS without the RUSH baby. It’s honestly been really hard to stay the course. One main reason is because without the rush, I am left sitting with all these real, painful, fears and insecurities. I have learned this week, that one of the greatest aspects to being an addict is the numbing effect on inner pain. In this episode I talk about how work has been like a dr*g for me, and how I am beginning to uncover the unconscious behaviors that drive me to work from a compulsive place. We see progress! ⬇️⬇️⬇️Watch this episode and many more on my Youtube channel! 👀Instagram/ Braxtongilbert...more57minPlay
