ABOUT THE GUEST
The Reverend Dr. Willard Ashley, Sr. is a New Jersey and nationally certified psychoanalyst,
certified group psychotherapist, and clinical fellow in the Association of Marriage & Family
Therapists. He is a trustee of Andover Newton Seminary at Yale Divinity School and retired
Professor of Pastoral Theology at New Brunswick Theological Seminary (NBTS).
Dr. Ashley served as the first African American Dean of the Seminary at NBTS. Dr. Ashley teaches at Rutgers
University, Hebrew Union College, and the New Jersey Institute for Training in Psychoanalysis.
He is also pastor of Abundant Joy Community Church in Jersey City, NJ and the author of
several books, including, New Rules for Radicals: TNT for Faith-Based Leaders, published by
Judson Press. Dr. Willard Ashley is married to Tanya Pagan Raggio Ashley, MD, FAAP, MPH.
They are the proud parents of an adult son. Together Will and Tanya are emotional support
humans to Serafina their 11-pound Shih Tzu, who won their hearts.
