What if the thing holding you back isn’t that you don’t care?

You just don’t feel ready.

Maybe you’ve been asked to lead, speak up, have a difficult conversation, take on a new responsibility or step into something that feels bigger than your ability.

And somewhere inside, you’re thinking:

Are you sure you want me?

Moses understood that feeling.

In Exodus 4, God has given him an enormous assignment, and Moses can see plenty of reasons he might be the wrong person for it.

What if people don’t believe him? What if they don’t listen? And Moses has another concern that feels very real to him:

He isn’t good with words.

But God’s response is fascinating.

He doesn’t give Moses a self-confidence speech.

He doesn’t tell him to believe in himself.

Instead, God redirects Moses’ attention from what Moses can do to who God is.

And then come two words worth slowing down for:

Now go!

God doesn’t tell Moses to wait until he feels ready. But He doesn’t send Moses alone, either.

You’re already watching the clock. You have somewhere important to be. And then somebody needs you.

Everything inside you wants to say:

I don’t have time for this right now.

In Mark 5, Jairus comes to Jesus with an emergency. His little daughter is dying, and Jesus agrees to go with him.

But on the way, someone else needs Him.

A woman who has suffered for 12 years reaches through the crowd and touches Jesus’ robe. Immediately, she is healed.

Jesus could keep walking.

Instead, He stops.

And that raises today’s question:

Am I so focused on where I’m going that I’ve stopped seeing who’s in front of me?

The woman’s physical healing has already happened, yet Jesus looks for her. He listens to her. And He calls her “Daughter.”

That word becomes even more striking because Jairus is standing there desperate for his own daughter. And Mark gives us another remarkable parallel: this woman has suffered for 12 years, while Jairus’ daughter is 12 years old.

One reaches out and touches Jesus.

Jesus eventually reaches out and takes the other by the hand.

He sees them both.

And while Jesus is still speaking with the woman, the news Jairus feared arrives.

His daughter has died.

From our perspective, life can feel like competing emergencies. If I stop here, what happens over there?

But Jesus is never portrayed as panicked. The woman isn’t forgotten because Jairus’ daughter has an emergency, and Jairus’ daughter isn’t forgotten because Jesus stopped for the woman.

We aren’t Jesus. We have limits. We can’t meet every need.

But perhaps before asking, “Do I have time for this interruption?” we can ask something else:

“Am I still seeing the person?”

Would you still say yes if you didn't have all the details?

“Here I am. Send me.” Those words from Isaiah are familiar - but what happened before and after them changes the way we hear them.

Isaiah didn't volunteer to earn God's forgiveness. He first encountered the holiness of God, became painfully aware of his own sin, and experienced grace: his guilt was removed and his sins forgiven. Then came, “Here I am. Send me.”

And only after Isaiah made himself available did he learn just how difficult his assignment would be.

Today on the Lifeline Morning Show, we're walking through Isaiah 6 and discovering that being available to God doesn't mean saying yes to everybody, trying to fix everybody, or knowing exactly how everything will turn out. It's a posture that simply says:

God, my life belongs to You. Here I am.

We'll also hear Derek Levendusky's remarkable story of walking into “Moonshine Village” in Tanzania with limited Swahili, a guitar, and no translator- and discovering that sometimes what you need arrives as you take the step of obedience.

Where do you look when you're running out?

When something gets difficult, it's easy to start looking inward: How much do I have left? How much longer can I do this? Am I strong enough?

Hebrews 12 points our attention somewhere else.

Instead of telling weary believers to dig deeper or find another gear, we're told to keep our eyes on Jesus - to consider Him so that we don't become weary and give up.

Today, we're talking about what that looks like when the race really does get difficult: comparison, discouragement, redirecting our attention, and taking the next faithful step when we can't see the entire road ahead. And before we're done, we'll look back at the journey we've taken all week and discover why “look at Jesus” may be exactly where this week needed to end.

Would you still do the right thing if nobody knew?

Jesus gives us what can sound like two very different instructions.

In Matthew 5, He says to let your good deeds shine so people will praise your Father.

Then in Matthew 6, He warns against doing good publicly to be admired by others.

So which is it?

Maybe the difference isn't visibility.

Maybe it's motive.

And maybe the better question isn't, “Did somebody see what I did?”

It's:

“Who did I want them to see?”

Today we're digging into Matthew 5 and 6 and examining the audience behind our faithfulness. We'll talk about doing what's right when there are no likes, recognition or applause—and why even our genuinely good actions can reveal something about what our hearts are seeking.

Then Pastor Ed Newton closes the episode with a story that brings the whole conversation home: a grandmother, anonymous checks, an absolutely disastrous old Buick, and years of quiet investment in a grandson because she believed God would use his life.

She couldn't possibly see everyone her generosity would eventually touch.

Maybe that's part of the beauty of faithfulness nobody applauds.

What if you do something good and nobody notices?

No thank you. No recognition. No applause. Maybe nobody ever knows you did it.

Does it still matter?

Today, Titus 2:14 takes us into the relationship between grace and doing good. Jesus doesn't call us to do enough good so that God will accept us. Paul starts with what Jesus has already done: He gave Himself to free us, cleanse us, and make us His own. Then comes the response - becoming people who are committed to doing good.

But what does “good” actually look like in ordinary life? How do we keep it from becoming people-pleasing? Are we responsible for fixing everybody? And what happens when the good in front of us is inconvenient?

Maybe making a difference today doesn't require changing the whole world.

Maybe there's simply some good within reach.

QUESTION OF THE DAY:What's one good thing you could do for someone today - even if nobody else ever knows?
