    Intelligent and engrossing
After a series a bad choices of unknown authors, finally hit on this. No fill in (unrelated to pushing plot forward) and doesn't slag along.
    Tight and unexpectedly good ending.
    I didn't like it.
For those of you who think a book with "DI Harland" in the title will be about DI Harland and/or detective work, let me disabuse you of that notion. This book is about the murderer and his schizophrenic girl friend. Until the last few chapters Harland is only a minor character. Furthermore, he is only peripherally involved in bringing the story to a conclusion. He happens to be present at the ending, but not because of any detecting or deducting. The narration was very good, but the story was a solid "meh".

A really engaging story, set over many years and generations, with a good ending.
    wonderful
Where does Moving rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
One of the best family saga's I have listened to, riveting, sad and funny. The characters are all so well defined.
Unexpectedly good if a tad depressing
Not what Expected by the blurb or the author. Thoughtful, sad and full of anxiety but eminently readable and enormously visual. A good story which echoed real events.
    Lovely book
A fantastic story showing just how complicated families and step families are. It shows how decisions are made and how they impact on others in ways you dont guess. blame laid at peoples door, when really its no ones fault, except life and its sometimes cruelty. Well worth a listen and narrators are amazing.
    surprisingly good
came across this by accident and was pleased I did it was a very engaging story well written and wonderfully performed. Recommended.

    Language: English

Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 8 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
Sara Jaffe's engrossing debut novel, Dryland, is a smart coming-of-age novel that charts the murky waters of adolescence.
Anything can happen when Julie hits the water.
It's 1992, and the world is caught up in the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the Balkan Wars, but for Julie Winter, 15, the news is noise. In Portland, Oregon, Julie moves through her days in a series of negatives: the skaters she doesn't think are cute, the Guatemalan backpack she doesn't buy at the craft fair, the umbrella she refuses to carry despite the incessant rain. Her family life is routine and restrained, and no one talks about Julie's older brother, a one-time Olympic hopeful swimmer who now lives in self-imposed exile in Berlin. Julie has never considered swimming herself until Alexis, the swim team captain, tries to recruit her. It's a dare and a flirtation - and a chance for Julie to find her brother or to finally let him go.

    Beautiful
This is the best book I've read in a long time. I fell into it, was hooked immediately, and the emotional content and gorgeous writing pulled me through. I couldn't put it down.
This book was a wonderful surprise. Its sensitivity was never self-indulgent
This book was a wonderful surprise. Its sensitivity was never self-indulgent. Its humanity was never self-conscious. It is subtle and literate. I couldn't recommend it more if I'd written it myself. Couldn't put it down.
    Perfect for light reading
I bought this book on a recommendation, and I loved it. I'm not into analyzing books based on any objective quality--I just really enjoyed reading Dryland. This book was super, super sweet, if a little bit sad. Being a lesbian who came out in high school, I loved connecting to Julie. I could relate to her easily, which is what I personally want in a good YA, coming-of-age story. It never felt like a chore to read; I never had to make myself sit down to focus (I have ADHD, so that's saying something), I just got to relax with this book.
Sweet Indie Rock coming of age.
I liked that the city of Portland added character to the book.
A Quiet Little Book that I Hope Gets A TON of ATTENTION!
This novel moves like the water that Julie so desires to conquer when she joins the high school swim team â itâs smooth and warm (OK, maybe the school pool isnât warm!), and the prose flows effortlessly. As one of the cover blurbs says, it truly does read like a diary and a dream. I absolutely, without a doubt loved this novel.
Julie, the main character is just fifteen years old, and is coming of age, grappling with the departure of her older brother who was idolized in town for almost making the Olympics swim team. Sheâs also figuring out sex, friendships and the pecking order in high school. I loved how this book was formatted â without chapters--absolutely NO chapters--and in other books this would bother me immensely to not have a stopping pointâ and while there is dialogue, there are no quotation marks â itâs simplistic and it works very well. I fell in love with this quiet little book that I hope gets a whole lot of attention.

    Loved it!
Fantastic story and Sandra Prinsloo rocks! This story deals with real and difficult issues with care, love and understanding and still manages to be happy and entertaining.
    Wonderfully evocative and enjoyable
Congratulations to Audible for selecting such a great narrator. This book would be hudgely irritating without a genuine South African narrator and it is a joy to hear all the local vernacular and vocabulary correctly pronounced for a change. Moreover Sandra Prinsloo has delighted my wife and myself with a compelling delivery - much more from this narrator please.
The story itself is wonderfully evocative of South Africa. It somehow manages to unite its warmth and friendliness at the same time it exposes its more brutish side. Good story and believable characters that readers can care about.
    Great job.

    Tedious story and distracting performance
I loved the first few chapters of the story but but then couldn't believe how tedious it became for the vast majority of the book. Additionally, the book would have been a lot stronger overall if it had been performed by a
professional reader instead of the author. Voices sounded almost exactly the same as each other in most places, you could hear the narrator turning pages, and she has a very distracting way of pronouncing the word "she", when it begins any sentence (which is often), like "he".

Length: 12 hrs and 11 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 10-20-15
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 13 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
A dark, fantastical, multigenerational tale about a family whose patriarch is consumed by the hunt for the mythical, elusive Sasquatch he encountered in his youth. Eli Roebuck was nine years old when his mother walked off into the woods with "Mr. Krantz", a large, strange, hairy man who may or may not have been a Sasquatch. What Eli knows for certain is that his mother went willingly, leaving her only son behind. For the rest of his life, Eli is obsessed with the hunt for the bizarre creature his mother chose over him, and we watch it affect every relationship he has in his long life - with his father, with both of his wives, his children, grandchildren, and colleagues. We follow all of the Roebuck family members, witnessing through each of them the painful, isolating effects of Eli's maniacal hunt, and find that each Roebuck is battling a monster of his or her own, sometimes literally.
The magical world Shields has created is one of unicorns and lake monsters, ghosts and reincarnations, tricksters and hexes. At times charming, as when young Eli meets the eccentric, extraordinary Mr. Krantz, and downright horrifying at others, The Sasquatch Hunter's Almanac is boldly imaginative throughout and proves to be a devastatingly real portrait of the demons that we as human beings all face.
    Members Reviews:
    Strange and Original
The Sasquatch Hunter's Almanac grabs the reader right from the start when Eli, the main character, meets Mr. Krantz, the titular sasquatch. It's a charming, funny, sad beginning.
The story progresses as Eli grows older and we see him, and his family, at different points in their oft-troubled lives. Eli's first encounter with Mr. Krantz, and the loss of his mother at a young age, creates a "butterfly effect" (or sasquatch effect) that defines his life and identity and consequently impacts his loved ones and shapes their lives too. It's all quite fascinating but it becomes a little depressing too. This is not a particularly fortunate family. Thankfully, Shields populates the book with more cryptozoological strangeness than Mr. Krantz and the narration by Tom Stechschulte is superb. There's a bit of social commentary in the mix as well.
I enjoyed the novel. The writing is extremely evocative and the characterizations memorable, but the worldview presented is rather melancholy and consequently, I found myself reluctant to go back to the book at times.
I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. It's above average, and some readers/listeners might love it.

    Unusual Time Traveling Story.
Where does The Journey rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
The Journey is a good book. It has an interesting plot with a new twist on time travel. It is told at an even, tranquil pace. It is a clean, family friendly book. No violence, sex, or inappropriate scenes.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Journey?
There are several memorable scenes in this story. The scene where Michelle first leaves the Franklin house and realizes that she has gone back in time leads to many memorable scenes. It is memorable when Michelle tells Michael Land to do whatever it takes to get his friend to come home in order to avoid the Iraq hostage situation. Michelle taking on a drunken student and forcing him to get out of his car in order to save his life is memorable. The ending of the story is unexpected. It is oddly satisfying and well done.

No, this is a new narrator for me. She did a great job.

    Great Story
I loved the story. Kelley Armstrong wove an intriguing plot that kept me interested the entire book and made me wish for more.
I did not enjoy the narration. The narrator has a nice voice, but the recording quality varied greatly. At the start of the book it is clear but with a very slight echo that isn't even noticeable until either the VA moves in position or they picked sections that to re-record because suddenly the voice is very muffled and quite a bit softer. It is a bit annoying, very distracting and in my opinion it takes away from the story.
    kinda suckef
it's boring not one of her best for sure. couldn't hold my attention narration was ok.

Dissatisfied with her job as a pharmaceutical rep and struggling with the decline of her long-term relationship, Grace, a well-heeled Londoner, uses yoga class to unwind, reflect, and momentarily transcend her earthly dilemmas. While pitching her company's latest antidepressant to the disarming Dr. James, she is inspired by his plan to study Eastern medicine in Vietnam and decides to quit her job to become a yoga teacher.
After studying at the eccentric White Lotus Foundation in California, Grace returns to London ready for her new life. But nothing could have prepared her for the motley crew of students she amasses - from the octogenarian industrialist desperate for distraction to the supermodel who indulges yogic aspirations when she tires of kabbalah to the American film star who uses yoga classes to conceal a scandalous affair. Overwhelmed, Grace soon finds herself relying on her bicontinental correspondence with Dr. James for solace and inspiration, his words hovering above her London life like a sweet promise. With an eye for the absurdity in every encounter, Alexandra Gray gently skewers our society's preference for a quick-fix nirvana in this chronicle of one woman's quest for love and meaning in a world numbed by materialism and psychotropic drugs.

    Contrived Story...
I did not enjoy The Yoga Teacher. The story felt contrived and not genuine. There were too many plot lines that made the storyline hard to follow and to keep my interest. I wanted to like the protagonist but found her to be shallow, at times, and lacking authenticity.
    Great sight into her journey
Delightful! Great sight into her journey
    somewhat superficial
I kept hoping for some depth to the main character and the story as a whole. The plot line is weak and the main character's role as a yoga teacher is somewhat unbelievable.
    Good book
This is a Great book for yoga lovers. Fun and insightful for getting lost in a good book on a sunny afternoon.
    I wasn't expecting a 'deep' read
Very light reading yes, but what I did mind is that it gives the impression that it is easy to become a Yoga Teacher and, worse yet, that many Yoga teachers and practitioners are not that mentally stable.
Reading it is a waste of your time.
