    Release date: 08-22-17

    Publisher's Summary:
Of New York Times best-selling author Sue Grafton, NPR's Maureen Corrigan said, "Makes me wish there were more than 26 letters". With only one letter left, Grafton's many devoted fans will share that sentiment.
The darkest and most disturbing case report from the files of Kinsey Millhone, Y is for Yesterday begins in 1979, when four teenage boys from an elite private school sexually assault a 14-year-old classmate - and film the attack. Not long after, the tape goes missing, and the suspected thief, a fellow classmate, is murdered. In the investigation that follows, one boy turns state's evidence, and two of his peers are convicted. But the ringleader escapes without a trace.
Now it's 1989, and one of the perpetrators, Fritz McCabe, has been released from prison. Moody, unrepentant, and angry, he is a virtual prisoner of his ever-watchful parents - until a copy of the missing tape arrives with a ransom demand. That's when the McCabes call Kinsey Millhone for help. As she is drawn into their family drama, she keeps a watchful eye on Fritz. But he's not the only one being haunted by the past. A vicious sociopath with a grudge against Millhone may be leaving traces of himself for her to find....

    Buy the abridged version
the main story is good but the unabridged was way too long and most of it was describing the scenery and decor of homes...the abridged version have the main story and direct to the point...love Judy Kaye of course...no one else can read Kinsey better than her....
i can't wait for Z IS FOR ZERO
    unlike the others
This story was a little long winded. The attempt to jump from past to present wasn't smoothly accomplished. This story portrayed Kinsey as a little sloppyin her work as a detective.
    Disappointing
Loved Grafton's alphabet series for years. But this one just feels phoned in. Hopefully Z will be better.
    Kinsey never disappoints.
I love it when the end is a surprise.
Kinsey is still in good form, all these years later.
Judy Kaye's voice work was well done. She fleshed out the characters, especially Fritz.
    #1 worse book!
No explanation needed. But since I have to write at least 15 words on this review ... Ill just say, dont waste your time, I did it for you already.

A new baby brings an abundance of joy to Isabel Dalhousie and her husband, Jamie - but Isabel's almost four-year-old son, Charlie, is none too keen on his newborn brother. In fact Charlie refuses to acknowledge Magnus, and Isabel must find a way to impress upon her older son the patience and understanding that have served as guiding principles in her own life.
These are, of course, the qualities that bring Rosemary Hipple, an old acquaintance of Isabel's, to seek her help in a tricky situation. Rosemary is something of a matchmaker and has brought together a cosmetic surgeon and a successful banker at her most recent dinner party. But new information comes to light about the cosmetic surgeon that causes Rosemary to doubt the auspiciousness of the match. Isabel agrees to find out more, but her inquiries take an unexpected turn, and she starts to wonder which of the two she should be investigating after all. As ever, her intelligence, quick wit, and deep empathy for others will come to her aid as she grapples with the issues that are her bread and butter: friendship and its duties, the obligation of truthfulness, and the importance of perspective.

    Keep listening. . .
even though this story had some holes in it, I will continue to listen to this series. I like the characters, even though it is frustrating two wait for her to find the right man, and the plot was interesting. It is hard for me to tell when one character stop speaking and another one starts. The narration could be better.
    Awesome
I Love the stories from Rock Harbor. Looking forward to more books in this series.

    Very suspenseful-Good, light,fast paced mystery...
What made the experience of listening to Jack and the Giant Killer: Detective Jack Stratton Mystery Thriller Series the most enjoyable?
This was a very good almost police procedural, since Jack is no longer on the police force. Although he still has friends on the force, it's not the same.
What about Andrew Tells performance did you like?
I thought Andrew Tell did a great job narrating this and all of the other books in this series.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, and I did! In one day anyway.
    Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed this book. It starts with a murder and a dog's thoughts since it is her owner who is murdered. But he's not the first and won't be the last. Jack's roommate/partner is hired to find the owner of the dog when she tries to enter the woman's home. The dog is a giant. It seems her owner was also.
Jack and Alice (Replacement) turn over every possible stone and of course the last person they (or I) suspected is the murderer.
    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
If you found this review helpful please indicate so.
    Thank You.
    I love this series!
Jack and the Giant Killer is book 4 in the Jack Stratton series. For those new to the series listen to book 6, And Then She Was Gone, first. It is not as good as the others but it does provide helpful background. Then move on to Girl Jacked and read the rest in order. The protagonist is Jack Stratton, but the co-protagonist, a girl named Alice but called by her nickname Replacement, is the most interesting character in the series. Book 5 has not yet been released in audio, but I hope it will be soon. Also, author Christopher Greyson should continue the series with book 7. The novels in this series have intense suspense, are fast paced and are fun.

Meticulously researched and drawing on scientific fact, John Lyman's intriguing story takes listeners into the world of scholars, archaeologists, code-breakers, and intelligence specialists who have discovered a prophetic code hidden within the Old Testament that authenticates the Bible as a book of supernatural origin and points to a divine plan. A Great Theological Thriller
this book kept my interest fixed all day. Multiple plot twists and turns - but also an exploration of the vocational call to the priesthood and of the main characters' backgrounds.
I am hoping Audible has the next in the series out soon!
    Poor
This book failed in many ways. In particular the book lacked credibility. The characters were shallow and their motivation seemed unrealistic. I would not recommend it.
Grabs you from the first few pages
It's been a long time since I've lost sleep over a book or found myself listening to a book while doing housework. The characters are so well done that I feel as though I know them and their motivations. The details of locations was fantastic - even the description of the food served at a dinner had me virtually licking my chops. And most of all the story was so compelling it was a tough thing to turn it off. I liked all the characters, the subtle twists, and the Biblical mystery. I'm so glad this is a series. Going to download the second book and put the third one on reserve.
    What is the point here?
What disappointed you about The Secret Chapel?
The spin from an interesting story to evangelical Catholic/Christian tome. Wow. I am sure I could have researched this better, but the speed at which this happened ( one third of the way through the book ) was amazing.
Has The Secret Chapel turned you off from other books in this genre?
    Yes.
What does David Colacci bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
He is a pro and did great work here.
What character would you cut from The Secret Chapel?
    Me.
    Any additional comments?
If you need to be preached/saved/have your faith reinforced, get this series. Otherwise, listener beware.
    Absurd
Would you try another book from John Lyman and/or David Colacci?
    Absolutely not.
What was most disappointing about John Lymans story?
The premise is absurd. I'm as able as the next person to suspend disbelief for the sake of a good story. I found my limit.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
    Find a better book.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
    Didn't listen long enough.
    Any additional comments?
I'm glad for Audible's return policy!

Her job was to solve the country's most complex and violent crimes, often with little more than a textbook profile of the perpetrator to go on. No one did it better. But after her partner's death at the hands of a sadistic mass murderer, she has become a broken shell of her former self.

Diane captures essence of John's story!
Would you consider the audio edition of The Strategist to be better than the print version?
I loved the print version and felt the audio version brought the story to the next level!
What did you like best about this story?
Throughout the story the details were so well written and the suspense kept me on my toes until the last page.
What does Diane Lehman bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Her voice brings light to the well written characters
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
this book made me think about possible outcomes of the twists and turns. I dont usually like surprises but this book kept me guessing, intrigued and connected. I wanted to see it to the end!
    Any additional comments?
I have been a fan of John Hardy Bell's writing since this book was released in hard copy. I have read his other stories and the new story by his pen name E.M. Parker. He is a talent and I look forward to seeing what he releases next. His plots, details and execution of story telling is exceptional.
    Great story
What made the experience of listening to The Strategist the most enjoyable?
The book was very well written and the story overall was very enjoyable, but the narrator's versatility really brought it to life. Her characterizations were amazing. Even the male characters were believable.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The story was well-paced with just enough character development to make me care.
Don't be fooled thus is a John Grisham book (as I
Good character bulid up, but otherwise flimsy plot and resolution. Don't be fooled by Grisham in the book name.
    Totally annoying reader
Story was pretty good, but I almost turned off a hundred times because of the awful voices the reader came up with. Annoying!
    persevered
    overwritten and over narrated.

Lee Child says she's "a genius".
    P. D. James called her "the most remarkable" of today's suspense writers.
Stieg Larsson loved her work so much, he named her in his novels.
And now Sara Paretsky returns with the most extraordinary novel of her legendary career: Fallout.
Before there was Lisbeth Salander, before there was Stephanie Plum, there was V. I. Warshawski. To her parents she's Victoria Iphigenia. To her friends she's Vic. But to clients seeking her talents as a detective, she's V. I. And her new case will lead her from her native Chicago...and into Kansas, on the trail of a vanished film student and a faded Hollywood star.
Accompanied by her dog, V. I. tracks her quarry through a university town, across fields where missile silos once flourished - and into a past riven by long-simmering racial tensions, a past that holds the key to the crimes of the present. But as the mysteries stack up, so does the body count. And in this, her toughest case, not even V. I. is safe.
Exciting and provocative, fiercely intelligent and witty, Fallout is listening at its most enjoyable and powerful.
    Critic Reviews:
"Narrator Susan Ericksen deftly portrays private investigator V.I. Warshawski... Ericksen's conversational style, skillful emotional range, and diverse accents enhance the production." (AudioFile)
    Members Reviews:
VI goes on a Road Trip to Kansas
This is a new episode (#18) in the Victoria Iphigenia Warshawski series. VI is hired to find August Verider who is accused of ransacking the gym he works. The trail leads to Lawrence, Kansas where events that took place at a 1983 demonstration have importance to her case. Vi has one of her dogs with her as her neighbor is on a trip. On the personal side, she receives a break-up e-mail from her boyfriend.
The book is well written. The plot is complex with many subplots. Paretsky has her famous amusing dialogue which Susan Ericksen does flawlessly. VI gets herself into some life threating situations which is normal for her. Paretsky provides a tour of Lawrence, Kansas as well as Chicago. I am looking forward to the next book.
I read this as an audiobook downloaded from Audible. Susan Ericksen does an excellent job narrating the book. Ericksen has narrated the last few book so she is becoming VI in my mind. Not all narrators have been able to do the subtle amusing dialogue that is Paretskys trademark. Ericksen is an actress and award-winning audiobook narrator.
    loved it!!
Awesome narration, great story and mystery. And a fantastic female detective! can't wait till the next V.I. Warshaski
    keep these coming
I took a bit of a break from VI books, didn't like the narrator as I recall, but I enjoyed this one and the narrator wasn't shrill, and the humor of Ms Warshaski came through well, and the tale wasn't too didactic. It was good to see VI get out of Dodge, and the reopening of old wounds is a good way to tell a tale in a country still beset by past crimes and conflicts still unresolved.
    Good book, awful narrator
The story was interesting and it was what fans of VI Warshawski expect. The narration was awful. Most narrators now can get into character and tell the story in the first person. This narrator still uses strange pauses in sentences as if that enhances attention.

In the latest Ali Reynolds mystery from New York Times best-selling author J. A. Jance, Ali takes to the high seas with her husband.

When he falls to his death from the balcony of his stateroom suite, the incident is quickly declared a suicide. Only his maiden aunt, a tough-as-nails woman who runs a racehorse refuge, refuses to take "case closed" for an answer and turns to Ali Reynolds at High Noon Enterprises to look into the situation.
    Members Reviews:
    Imaginative
High Noon employee Stuart Raney is contacted by the aunt of Roger McGeary, a former high school friend and fellow misfit computer geek. She asks him for help to find Rogers murderer. Apparently, Roger fell or was pushed off a luxury cruise ship. The authorities call it a death by misadventure but his aunt insists he was murdered. B Simpson and Ali Reynolds agree to help the aunt. Owen Hansen, a recluse obsessed with suicide, has hacked a psychotherapist patient data base and is tormenting patients/victims. Ali has to figure how all these ties together and solve the murder.
The book is well written. The book features Stuart and B and their computer expertise more than prior books. The plot contains information about artificial intelligence which was interesting. The suspense builds throughout the story and the pace is steady. Enjoyed the trip around the Monterey Bay area that Jance provided. There were two educational topics in the book one on suicide the other about artificial intelligence.
I read this as an audiobook downloaded from Audible; the book is almost 11 hours long. Karen Ziemba does a good job narrating the book. Ziemba has narrated the entire series.
    Is this real about computers??
Would you listen to Man Overboard again? Why?
    yes.
What did you like best about this story?
    moved well with many characters
What does Karen Ziemba bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
    the action
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me wonder if this was true about artificial intelligence or are we back to the 2001 movie, but there are others with the same idea.
    Predictable but still Good
The story is predictable because there is no need for guesswork. The narrator is tiresome with her strange mix of reading and characterization. Overall this audiobook was only OK.
    Still liking this series
J.A. Jance has written a nice addition to the Ali Reynolds series, and I'm still liking it.
    Surprisingly BAD
Up to now, I have enjoyed the Ali series. After several failed attempts, I was unable to finish this it was so boring. Most likely will not be purchasing Ali series in the future.

    Publisher's Summary:
Tough, smart, and struggling to stay afloat, August Snow is the embodiment of Detroit. The son of an African American father and a Mexican mother, August grew up in Detroit's Mexicantown and joined the Detroit police only to be drummed out of the force by a conspiracy of corrupt cops and politicians. But August fought back; he took on the city and got himself a $12 million wrongful dismissal settlement that left him low on friends. He has just returned to the house he grew up in after a year away and quickly learns he has many scores to settle.
It's not long before he's summoned to the palatial Grosse Point Estates home of business magnate Eleanore Paget. Powerful and manipulative, Paget wants August to investigate the increasingly unusual happenings at her private wealth management bank. But detective work is no longer August's beat, and he declines. A day later, Paget is dead of an apparent suicide - which August isn't buying for a minute. What begins as an inquiry into Eleanore Paget's death soon drags August into a rat's nest of Detroit's most dangerous criminals, from corporate embezzlers to tattooed mercenaries. From the wealthy suburbs to the near-postapocalyptic remains of the bankrupt city's factory districts, August Snow is a fast-paced tale of murder, greed, sex, economic cyber-terrorism, race, and urban decay in modern Detroit.

    Potboiler ruined by bad reading
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I am enjoying listening to descriptions of Detroit. The author seems content to portray all wealthy white people in an insulting cliche manner but his protagonist is still interesting.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The protagonist, August Snow, is a promising lead character for stories of this nature.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Mirron Willis?
Anyone who might read ahead a bit and learned to pronounce the words properly. A reader with some familiarity with black dialect would be appreciated. The reader seemed to be trying to stifle a constant ongoing yawn throughout the entire tale.
Was August Snow worth the listening time?
The reader wore me out. I almost dumped the story because of his annoying style of reading.
    Excellently narrated
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Captivating from the stand point of anti cop feeling in the US at the moment. Ex cop who sued DPD and won.
What was one of the most memorable moments of August Snow?
Mixed races for Mom and Dad. Interesting how the protagonist belong to both black and hispanic backgrounds where parents loved each other.
What does Mirron Willis bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
    Very smooth and strong narration
Could you see August Snow being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Yes. It is the American way to have a 'shoot em up' movie with the good guys always winning.
    Any additional comments?
Excellent depiction of Detroit and it's inhabitants. Very eye opening
Heard great review on NPR but .....
What disappointed you about August Snow?
The narrator did not "fit" the characters.
