Fun and were-lions

Africa, supernatural, lore, fantasy, steampunk, cozy-mystery, humor

Weirdly good. Set in time around the turn of the 20th century, yet filled with fantastic creatures and more. The characters are great fun and the lore of the continent of Africa is fascinating. There's plenty of subtle and overt humor, and the situational humor is guaranteed to have any reader snorting their caffeine. The publisher's blurb gives hints and there is no need for spoilers, just enjoy the unraveling of the mystery.

Paranormal Cozy Mystery

Ghosts of Tsavo is a great first in series. It is a great story that mixes many genres includig steampunk, supernatural and historical in a fantasticly seamless manner. The narrator brings the story and characters to life fabulously. I look forward to more in this series

If you like dry english humor and story telling you will love this book. The narrator is exceptional. I loved this story and the fact and fiction part at the end is an added bonus!

Right Kind of Ridiculous

Agoraphobia

Before reading this short story, I knew only the definition of what Agoraphobia was. Now, after only about 14 pages I have felt the fear and emotions of one who struggles with this fear.

Sara Secora hasn't let us down yet with always making sure we connect with her characters, physically and emotionally. She has a way with making her readers feel the pain, the distress, the hope, and the joy within her writings.

Agoraphobic: Inside Out is a must read for anyone who knows someone with this phobia. Often times mental disorders looked over because it is hard to feel how someone feels inside of their head, rather than physical pain which is much easier to empathize with.

Mental disorders like this, along with anxiety, depression and so on, are getting more and more common. Sara Secora does a great job at shining a light on this specific subject, so that the reader more understands and empathizes with this common and REAL disease.

The only thing I would criticize about is.. I WANT MORE! This story drew me in just as fast er than it took to read it!

Great Example of Agoraphobia

Agoraphobia: Fear of places and situations that might cause panic, helplessness, or embarrassment. Chronic; can not be cured, but treatment may help.

That's a heck of a mental handicap for someone to live with. As a student of psychology with dreams of being able to help people with issues just like this one, I was quickly drawn to the synopsis of this short story. I've looked into this kind of paranoia and fear-based limitation, and it utterly fascinates me.

As a highly spiritual person, as well as someone who enjoys studying science and the mind, I was curious to see how this author approached the subject. I hadn't expected it to be as spot-on as it was. Not only did she show exactly what it is like inside the mind of someone struggling with this misunderstood issue, she added in the possibility that it is, for the tormented mind, almost a demonic parasite of anxiety. I've studied it with the same theory, and have yet to see many other people explain it in that way. Because of the author's unconventional spin on a relatively unknown issue, I loved it right away.

There is far more depth to the short pages in this short story, and I am positive that I could find something new with each read. Not only does it give a glimpse into a mental issue still lacking proper care or examination, this quick story gives readers a taste of the author's talent.

I would definitely take a few minutes to read this story, whether the topic interests you, or you're curious about this author.

A compelling suspense story

Rebecca Reynolds returns to her parents' home for her weekly visit only to literally stumble over her wheelchair-bound sister's dead body.

Her parents are also dead, all three hacked to death with an ax.

She calls 911. She wonders where her other sister, Lena, disowned by the family years ago, is. And she wonders how long it will be before Lena is arrested.

It's a very effective, chilling set-up for chilling psychological suspense. We see the story through three sets of eyes--Rebecca's, Lena's, and those of the lawyer Rebecca hires for her sister (who is indeed arrested as the most likely suspect), Brian Stone.

Lena truly is the most likely suspect, and the evidence mounts against her, even as Stone becomes convinced of her innocence.

We see all three viewpoint characters develop as complex and sometimes ambiguous figures. Other characters, seen only through the eyes of these three, also become nuanced and layered.

Michelle Babb does an excellent job of narration as always, and Melinda Clayton kept me guessing till the end.

Highly recommended.

Private detective of sorts Myron Vale has good reason to be reclusive. Ghosts remain on Earth after someone dies. ALL of them. Myron is twice cursed by a lingering injury, as not only can he see and interact with the multitude of ghosts everyone else is unaware of, he canât tell them from the livingâ

Ghost Detective surrounds a strong hard boiled detective core with a fascinating supernatural concept. The blending of the two genres really works and the premise is well used. Little details, like Myron being a recluse, arise naturally and make things feel authentic within the extraordinary setup.

The story is a little heavy on plot convenient coincidence and a few things fit too neatly, but itâs still compelling overall, with logical progression and reasonably interesting characters and developments. This is a good opening book, and Myronâs adventures have the potential to be even better going forward.

It was okay!

I enjoyed this book. It was interesting and intriguing, but what I did not like was the author's prose. I do not like going back and forth to different episodes with Myron ( the detective). I was getting interested in a chapter and then move to something that happened before. I guess that this the writers way of telling a story, But still a good book.

2 people or one?

I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. I'm so glad that I purchased the second audio at the same time as the first. I would have been miserable not hearing the second half of Victors

story. It had just what I love in an audio. An obsessive alpha with control issues and a sassy heroin that won't give up. Then narrator was good at times. Same as with the first audio at times I did feel like I was listening to a robot but the story kept me listening. I would definitely recommend this psychological mind bender to anyone who loves a good messed up story.

Book 2 blew me away!

Usually, I find the second book of a duet disappointing. Since book one had such an original plot, I thought I knew what to expect. Boy, was I wrong! Book two was hotter and more chilling at the same time! Pavi's voice is incredible. I had goosebumps when Mr. Black would make an appearance! It is rare that a man can mimic a woman's voice so convincingly. His Elsa was perfect.

Ella Dominguez keeps us guessing until the end, and thrills with an awesome twist. Victor's character development was marvelous to witness and Elsa's strength was stunning. I didn't know she had it in her!

Wow! I didn't really know what to make of the black humour in the early chapters but as the story develops this chapter by chapter from the perspective of the main players in turn you are taken on a very convincing and thrilling journey.

Who knows what lies in the heart of a man?

What made the experience of listening to Hurricane the most enjoyable?

The great writing. The style and communication just flows. The back and forth of the timeline worked so well, giving present actions while back-filling with past history at just the right pace to keep the suspense.

I love thrillers, so not an extreme reaction per se - but it will stay with me a long time for the realistic glimpse into the mind of a serial killer who could seem so normal until his final disintegration.

A Listening Delight!

This book is another in this delightful series. The narrator, Erin Spencer, brings these characters to life, and the author spins these tales for easy listening. They each make you yearn for the next book, and I love the plots to each. It's "clean" listening, and I have definitely suggested these books to friends with middle school children and up, definitely family friendly. If you like "Ghost Whisperer", this series is a must- listen!
