K.S Haigwood - Save My Soul
Reading as much as I do it is almost inevitable for me to reach a point where a novel plot line is something so elusive it almost becomes a myth. So when I started on this audio book I was shocked, delighted and intrigued with the authors ease in taking a concept so apparently logical and yet never really before explored in fiction and weaving a tale of love, loss and lust around it.
As far as novel plot line -- a 5 *. I am sure I might very well come by a guardian demon battling alongside a guardian angel in future but for now bravo to the author for entertaining me with a novel concept.
Title -- love the double entendre. You'll have to read it to know what I mean. 5*.
Theme -- as old as time it self. Love conquers all. How can I give it less than 5 *.
Execution and pace of the novel. Very well done. Sometimes I figured too much emphasis was placed on the lusty scenes but this will resonate with romance lovers.
    4*
Character building and setting. 5 *.
This was an audible copy and in this I hit a hitch.
Erin Mallon narrated the book for 7 hours 23 minutes.
Either the mixing or the narrator herself caused the first few segments of the book to be somewhat hard to listen to. The narrators exaggerated breathing at the end of sentences was extremely distracting.
Honestly she sounded like an asthma sufferer who needed to control her breathing at the start of an attack. This lasted for a few segments until it evened out. Again, I am unsure if this is the narrator or the productions fault. I also, due to the breathing issue became aware of how exceptionally well the narrator pronounces each word. I am torn between a rating of 2 due to the rocky start and 4 due to precision and eventual correcting of the problem so I will stand off at a very high 3.
In total a 4* listen and read.

    Dream walking at it's best...
A well written book that is part paranormal, part science fiction, part fantasy and part romance and a place where worlds collide. A war of Gods and royalty and at a time where family would kill each other to gain power. A princess is in danger and her hero is in her dreams. It is dream walking at it's best. Read along as Daria faces danger in many different places.
The author, Debra Holland tells a story as only she can while keeping our interests peaked and keeping us guessing as to what is going to happen next. The narrator, Noah Michael Levine delivered this story flawlessly with that entertaining voice he has. He is superb at multiple voices and his accents are spot on. I can almost hear a sense of humor in some of his character voices. Kudos to both author and narrator for a job well done!
Can't wait to get into the next one!
Would you consider the audio edition of Sower of Dreams to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version but loved the narrator for Sower of Dreams :)
What was one of the most memorable moments of Sower of Dreams?
This is a hard question to answer because many scenes were memorable and I don't want to give anything away for someone who hasn't read or listened to the book. So, spoiler alert ahead: One of the most memorable scenes was when the hero finds and rescues the monkey bats. I loved the new words given for the pits (especially as a Star Trek fan myself).
What about Noah Michael Levines performance did you like?
I like how real all the character sounded. How does a male do deep male voices and little girl voices so well? Training?
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    I cried at times.
    Any additional comments?
Here's a review I posted on Amazon and I am new to reading books through kindle and Audiobooks and Amazon so I don't have many reviews on there. I am very happy I was introduced to this author :)First, a genuine compliment to the author: The worlds intrigue me as much as Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth . In over a decade, I have not been pulled in so craftily! Holland writes her worlds and settings with fascinating detail, yet never with too much detail. In other words, I was never bored and felt like I was IN the story. The characters are real and layered. The action well-written. The story-line extremely creative.Second, I can't wait to listen to the second book.Third, a mention about the narrator, Noah Michael Levine. How do you, Mr. Levine, narrate women's and children's voices so well? I clearly saw each character's facial expressions and body posture because of your narration. Also, I was very impressed that you made the voice of the main character's brother sound so close to her voice but completely male instead of female. In other words, you perfectly portrayed how I expect siblings voices to match without being identical. From the child's voice to the accented foreigner's voice, I'm impressed by your work!Did I say I can't wait to purchase the second one? I can't imagine driving now without Mr.

    My favorite
    Setting 1880's England
This the 4th in The Darkest London series, and the best so far. Yes, there is at least one that hangs from this one that comes out in 2014.
There wasn't too much foreshadowing of this book in book 3, but the characters were there. In fact, the hero has been a secondary figure since book 2, and it's nice for him to get his own book at last.
The hero is one of those dark brooding types. He had a seriously horrible past he has never dealt with fully, and a more recent incident that tortures his soul. I guess they don't have psychiatrists in that world. Oops, sorry for the levity, but there isn't much in the entire series, though the dialog can be entertaining. Anyway, back to the hero. He's a beautifully handsome shapeshifter who works for the paranormal Society for the Suppression of the Supernatural. It's a regulatory agency that keeps "normal" people from knowing about the supernatural world. He has secrets in his past he doesn't want known, especially by the heroine.
The heroine is a GIM, which stands for ghost in the machine. Kind of convoluted. Listen to the books for an explanation. She is quite beautiful, and until recently, she was apparently the lover of Lucien, who creates the GIMs. Now she works for the agency. She has secrets as well that she doesn't want anyone to know.
So, the heroine has just been assigned to work with the hero and is he ever ticked off! Their relationship is cold at best, and downright nasty at worst. But he has not had success in finding a serial killer, though he has the best record of any regulator in the agency. Their supervisor feels he needs assistance. So the plot revolves around their hunt for the killer. And their relationship.
I don't know the time frame in how long has passed between books, because I'm terrible about paying attention to that kind of thing, but I do know that 3 and 4 are immediately sequential.
One of the reasons I liked this book best is the push-pull, hot-cold in the relationship. The mystery isn't difficult to solve. Well, part of the mystery. Anyway, the evolution of the relationship as well as the personal growth of the characters was what kept me listening. And Moira Quirk. She is so very good.
    Interesting Series
Not my usual type of book, but I enjoyed it. I actually listened to each book twice, because the first time I rushed through to know what happened so had to repeat to get details.

AN ENTERTAINING, IMAGINATIVE & PASSIONATE STORY
What a great team - Gena Showalta's awesome, futuristic and well-written paranormal series continues and is flawlessly narrated by Justine Eyre so together they deliver a book that you can mentally picture the scene by scene action as it smoothly unfolds.
Earth sometime in the future is where we find Aleaha (who can shape-shift into anyone she's been in contact with) and the fellow members of AIR (Alien Intelligence & Retrieval) team as they get ready to enter a battle with deadly Aliens that are about to land but instead a different race turn up. The Rakans are golden skin coloured peaceful Aliens who just want to find a new home because their planet's been destroyed but when they encounter the gun wielding AIR team they are forced to let their 'special abilities' kick in. Handsome Breean is their sexy, charismatic and seductive Commander who emits a lust perfume but it has little effect on Aleaha which is devastating to Breean as he desperately wants her to be his so sets out to seduce her but first he has to capture the whole AIR team.... but things go from bad to worse.
There's great world-building details, loveable characters, a super-sexy vulnerable tender hearted Alpha hero and a strong heroine who have great chemistry and a mutual sensual desire and longing, plenty of action, twists, surprises, passion, sex and a sweet and sensitive love story.
Worth a credit? As with all of the Gena Showalter books I've listened to, there's no point in trying to guess the plot or the outcome, you just have to sit back, put your feet up and enjoy the paranormal journey she skilfully takes you on - so YES, IMHO, very credit-worthy.
    Awesome!!
I loved every second. It was too short, wanted more and more and more. Gena had done it again......
Trivial. Whining. Doesn't advance the series
Not sure if this because it was an earlier work but this story left me flat. I purchased this book because I found several of this series that I missed. It sat for almost a year because I don't like the narrators voice. I was desperate for something on a long flight and get it a try. Usually this series is so good I get over the narrator after the frat chapter and am able to enjoy myself immensely. But this story fell short on several counts and doesn't advance the series. It's missing the humor and rapport between the agents. It resolves the issues too cleanly and I lost interest in their relationship. There's also an odd rap scene that I didn't enjoy and she doesn't address in terms of how it impacts their bond. I was disappointed. First time for this author to let me down. Not worth a credit.

    Enjoyable Time Travel Romance
I'm a sucker for a good Highlander Romance so I had to give this one a try. Because I've never read anything from this author before I wasn't expecting much so was happy that I found this book a well written light read.
No, this book isn't a deep historical story but its definitely worth reading because of its clever story with twists and turns that keep your attention. The main characters of Ali and Rory very likable and are written with class and the secondary characters add dimension to the story. The time travel aspect has some predictable moments but I really appreciated the plot twists that I didn't anticipate. The story has a nice romantic progression so it didn't drag......and I really liked the ending. I will check out this author's other books.
The narrator was good with all the characters except Ali's. Ali is from New York and even though her accent is different from the other characters it definitely isn't a New York accent. (Ali sometimes sounded like she was the New England area of the USA). But overall she did a good job.
WHEN YOU WAVE A FAE FLAG.....BEWARE OF THE OUTCOME
As we travel with Medical Student Ali back through the many pages of history to reach the bed of Rory (a handsome well respected Highland Laird) in his 16th century Scottish Castle and they both think they are having a lovely dream. Rory thinks he's dreaming of his long dead but much loved wife because Ali is nearly identical and Ali thinks she's dreaming about the handsome Scottish Warrior from a painting she's seen in the 21st Century.
Unfortunately, things come to an abrupt end but the longing and dreaming of what might have been remains then some of the occupants of the Castle tells her exactly why and how she was brought there but it must remain a secret.

Not So Wicked...Just Gone a bit Astray.
This regency romance has an interesting storyline and characters. The romance is simple, sweet and although a bit predictable it is still enjoyable.
Edward (Ned) is a very handsome debonair "wicked" businessman. He is a man of circumstance as his upbringing lead him to his wicked ways. Kate is plain, reliable, and very practical but still possesses great wit and charm. The author, Liz Carlyle, allows this romance to evolve in an unrushed believable manner. I appreciate the fact that she writes characters with flaws because this gives her stories a more realistic edge. .
If you enjoy "opposites attract" romances with sweet and tender love scenes you will probably like this one. it's a nice simple "rainy day' read. .
    Great wicked fun!
Would you consider the audio edition of In Love with a Wicked Man to be better than the print version?
Fantastic story! Great narrator! Loved this book! The narrator made the characters come to life!
What was one of the most memorable moments of In Love with a Wicked Man?
When Kate was touching Edward's face and he suddenly woke up and grabbed her wrist.
What does Carolyn Morris bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
The narrator's range of voices really made the characters come to life.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Kate confronted Edward about Annabel. Edward seemed so hurt
    Any additional comments?
    I enjoyed this book immensely.
    Wonderful of course!
The narrator was excellent, the characters well developed, the dialogue and story clever and the passion and romance well done! Thanks for a great listen to a wonderful book!
Back to basics...and I love it!
    Any additional comments?
I've been a Liz Carlyle fan for nearly 15 years. And we're talking the kind of fan who has had to replace copies of her paperbacks because the spines have fallen apart from overuse. I fell in love with her work because, in addition to creating complex, suspenseful, believable, steamy hystorical romances that always have a healthy dollop of mystery, Carlyle's characters were unforgettable and her dialogue was clever. However, for the past few years, as she has spun out the tales of the Fraternitas Aurea Crucis, I have found myself picking up each new installment with a sigh, and the hope that I would once again feel the old magic.

Eric Flint's world of 1632 is an amazing and complex alternate history universe that split off from ours one spring day in 2000 and 1631.
The Grantville Singles provide listeners with the opportunity to sample some of our favorite stories from the semi-monthly magazine devoted to the series, The Grantville Gazette. We hope you enjoy them.
In this story Brad Sinor and Tracy Morris explain that Cyrano de Bergerac looks nothing like Steve Martin, but that's ok because Betsy Springer doesn't look much like Daryl Hannah. Still, you know that with Cyrano and d'Artagnan both in Grantville something interesting's going to happen.

    Irritating heroine ruined story
I am all for strong women with brains, fighting skills, and confidence. I am not interested in listening to a story where the heroine is so over the top stubborn that she almost gets herself and everyone around her killed multiple times, is stupidly rash, rude, and so annoying that it is hard to wish her on anyone, especially the hero.
I almost did not read the next book because of this one was so frustrating. The hero and heroine fought constantly, then all of the sudden, the heroine is like "wait, I love him so I will try to be less irritating." (Seriously that was actually her internal dialogue.)
So, worth the Credit or the time it woll take to listen to this one? Not in my opinion. Maybe if you find it on sale you might want to pick it up, if you'd like to read the next book. (Although I have not finished it, it has started out much better.)
I love a romance with humor!
What made the experience of listening to Embrace the Darkness the most enjoyable?
The action started immediately and continued throughout! I also loved Le'vay the gargoyle. What a surprise to have a funny and unexpected sidekick. He appeared often enough to keep you listening and laughing at is quips. I enjoyed Shay and Viper. Two alpha personalities constantly protecting the other. They were constantly denying their feelings for each other but their actions blatantly showed the opposite. Very enjoyable to see these two fall hard. Le'vay, although cowardly was just funny!
What other book might you compare Embrace the Darkness to and why?
Surprisingly, this was the first time I didn't compare one of the other books I had read to this one.
    Great listen!
Would you listen to Embrace the Darkness again? Why?
    Yes! Love the chemistry
    Any additional comments?
Shay & Viper.... A fascinating love story. Ivy does a wonderful job at writing, Characters are always well developed and the story has a with good plot and a strong storyline.

I liked that the author chose four misfits as her heroines, and that each of them came with an exclusive skill set and personality. It really helped set them apart from the typical vampires/werewolves staples, and gave Robson a lot of wiggle room when it came to establishing her baseline. The oldest sibling, Celia Wird, was the MC, and Im glad that she went with that format albeit; we still got lots of the other sisters as well.
The quick fire pacing, and spectacular fight scenes definitely appeased my need for violence, and the humorous dialogue was further boosted by Renée Chambliss sharp performance, but Ill get to that in a minute. The plot was this novels only weak spot; I found it to be rather commonplace, and although I do enjoy a healthy helping of beefcake with my fiction, the potential for an Aric / Misha love triangle is high.
Chambliss narration was right on point with Robsons writing. I think that I would have had no problems differentiating the characters on page because of their unique speech patterns, but the noticeable voice nuances made the experience bullet proof. The reader also doubtlessly contributed to making the punch lines funnier, and cranked up Shaynas dudes and Tarans potty mouth. Emmes sweetness was likewise apparent.
SEALED WITH A CURSE had a nice ending to it; however it left me hungry for more too!
    Sisters who kick butt
Would you consider the audio edition of Sealed with a Curse to be better than the print version?
I actually enjoyed it just as much as if I had read the book.
What did you like best about this story?
I like the relationship between sisters and all the action in the book. I really look forward to the next one to see were all the relationships go and the sister growth in the supernatural community. I hope we learn more about all the different supernatural creatures rules.
What does Renée Chambliss bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I feel she did a great job telling the story.

Marie Bellavance has known for years that she will die of the same incurable disease her mother did. That's why she never dated and doesn't allow anyone to get close to her. But now, as an employee of the paranormal dating agency Midnight Liaisons, she has a chance: if she can find someone to turn her into a supernatural creature, she'll be cured!
Flirty were-cougar Joshua Russell has wanted standoffish Marie for his own, but she's been off limits as a human. When he catches her sneaking away from a vampire date gone wrong, he steps in and offers his own services. As a vampire bodyguard, he's able to tell her which vamps will be the perfect ones to date. But he's secretly got a better plan in mind: if she wants to date the supernatural, a handsome were-cougar would be the best choice of all.

    Love the Series but...
The series is great but... This story was good. Joshua the hero was great but the Heroine Marie was a little, well stupid. Don't get me wrong I liked her through most of the story but when she keeps making stupid mistakes it became ridiculous. By the climatic end I could care less if she got kidnapped or chained to a wall in the basement.
How can I explain this better... If this was a horror movie Marie would be the preverbal "Dumb Blonde". She hears the menacing music while standing on "Elm" street. She sees a trail of blood and follows it to the dark house with friends shouting "Marie don't go in". She ignores them. She goes in anyway and when she gets stabbed stares in disbelief at the large hunting knife in her chest.
With that being said, the author does a good job bringing the Heroine around in the last chapters and epilogue.
Jessica Sims is a wonderful writer and does a great job with her character development and the story held my attention in spite of Marie's less than intelligent actions.
Leah Mallach did and awesome job with the Narration. Her character voices were very distinct for each character. She does a great job at making men sound like... well men.
Series five stars, but because of Marie this book four stars.
    I loved/hated this book
I both loved and hated this book.
I loved the male lead, Josh, in this book. He was handsome, kind, and a smart-alack. What I disliked about this book was the female lead. She was just so dense and so hurtful to Josh. She constantly refused to give Josh credit for being a decent guy for no apparent reason other than he dated a lot in his past. I just got to the point where I was muttering out loud about how stupid she was. The ending of the book also just seemed to drag out f-o-r-e-v-e-r. I really enjoyed all the other books in this series. I think if Maria had not been so dumb and self-absorbed, I would have enjoyed this book more.
    Loved those Fangs
One of the things I adored about this book was the very different fatal disease that Marie had. Ive read books before where people have cancer, or something of the sort, but never before had I ever heard of fatal insomnia. Who would have ever thought such a thing existed? It was so unique and different!
The sexy times are pretty hot and well written, and affectionate. In romance miscommunication is always a factor, so that is in there.
