Faerie from Hell and Changeling Cop Hunt Murderer
I listened to the new audio book version of this work. Great writing and characterization by the author, Scott Roche. Entertaining listen because the narrator, Brad Nelms, breathes life into the characters. Laurant, a snarky faerie seeking escape from Hell, teams with a changeling detective, Helen. She is investigating a murder and he has a promise to the victim to kill the murderer. The victim? Her brother. The weapon? Laurant. The force behind the crime? Pure evil.
Give it a listen, you won't be disappointed!

    5/5 Charming, Witty, Weird
Summary: Bees back and shes got her hands full. Theres murder and mayhem afoot and bigger crises like warding off would-be suitors.
    Additional Comments:
    - I think Ive said it before: this is my brand of weird. That said, its probably not going to be everybodys cup of tea. If youre in the mood for a serious book, definitely wrong series.
    - If youre in the mood for fun and weird, definitely a great series to try.
    - The series combines the charm of Alexander McCall Smiths #1 Detective Agency with the random, wacky weirdness of Seth Graham Smiths Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies.
    - Ive listened to a lot of audiobooks lately and these are always a light-hearted bit of escapism.
    - The character has a few quirks that can come across as annoying, especially in the way she describes things. But overall, its still highly entertaining.
    - I find the blurb a tad misleading after youve heard or read the story, but if you enjoyed the first story, I see no reason for you to dislike this one. If this is your introduction to the series, you might want to grab book one so you have some context.
Conclusion: Decent entry in an awesome series.
*I heard the audiobook version for free. I chose to review the story.
    Charming, unique, captivating trip
I love Vered Ehsani's Society for Paranormal series. Book two picks up soon after book 1 and continues this delightful trip. It's kind of a female Sherlock Holmes investigating paranormal problems in turn of the century Africa. Unique and well-written. NOT a formula driven story, despite my reference to Sherlock. Vered writes in a style all her own which is very well done and quite intriguing. I've been hoping for book 3 to come out in audio but I've waited all I can. I just picked up the ebook version to continue my travels with Bea.

    Confess!!
Patrick Lahm is on his way to a book signing when he has some car trouble. Through the storm he makes out lights coming towards him. A priest pulls up and Patrick gets a lift to the nearest town, but the storm is worsening and they decide to stop at the Kurtain Motel for the night. This turns out to be a massive mistake and the night seems never ending.
So I quite enjoyed this. While there are a few minor issues, overall it was thoroughly enjoyable. Plot wise, I was intrigued and interested in the whole plot. The setting of the motel was perfect because a creepy motel in a storm will always give you shivers!! Then we have the whole "confess" bit! That was initially confusing but once the story got going I was able to figure somethings out. I also loved the fact that everyone seems to have their own secrets.
One problem for me was the sheer number of characters. I found myself a little lost on who was talking at any given time, but it did eventually click for me and I was able to distinguish each one and kinda figure out what their secrets were. I really liked Patrick and am intrigued to find out what his secret is ;)
The minor issues for me were the fact that some of the characters weren't as developed as I would have liked. Also, when the boy came into the story, I thought, from the description, that he was really young, but near the end we find out his age. It just didn't add up! But as I said, these are minor issues and didn't detract from the creepiness of the story!!
Thom Bowers does a great job of capturing the atmosphere and bringing the book alive, I just found that he didn't differentiate some of the male characters enough. It took me a while to figure out which character was which. But he does read this well and is clear and concise, so in all, I did enjoy his performance.
I was voluntarily provided this audiobook for free from the author, narrator, or publisher. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.
    Kurtain Motel
A.I. Nasser is third writer I've read from the Team Scare Street group . Once agian I'm not disapointed . A twisted story with great characters . I love the narration by Tom Bower's. I really hope this team of writers go far .
Never staying at a small motel again...
    Any additional comments?
I liked the story idea, it was good overall but it did have some parts that were a little slow.

    Perfect end
This is the perfect ending to this series. Full of suspense that left me unsure of the fate of the main characters until the very end. Heartbreaking struggles has Ainsley and her pack in turmoil. Eric has discovered what has killed the Alpha in the copper creek pack and it is up to him to save the copper creek pack, without the help of his wolf. I am sad at the conclusion of this serial because I really enjoyed the entire listening experience. Tasha Black does a great job developing characters that are easy for readers to connect with. I hope to hear more from the Tarker's Hollow pack.
    Awesome ending
This is the last episode of the series. It has a wonderful HEA. Recommend to all shifter lover. The narrator does a beautiful job of telling the story. Did not see the ending coming, wonderful twists.

hang on to your hats folks, this conclusion is a wild ride! the evil creature the wolves are supposed to guard is almost free and people get desperate. sacrifices are made on both sides and your left guessing till the end who is going to make it. love the surprise at the end! there is violence and adult content.

Well told the snakes didn't even trouble me
    Any additional comments?
Serpents are just not one of my favorite things in life, to be honest I hate them the only good one is a dead one. To be honest they are the one thing that I fear the most. When I started this audio I thought oh lord will I be able to finish it. What I found was a wonderful delightful story that had me sucked in snakes or no snakes. It was told in a way that I could deal with my fears and really forgot all about the snakes for the most part. The detail given from the bible to the seeking of the seals to bring one demon to life really pulls you in from the danger of the unknown to the people who seek it and the ones willing to kill to get them really keeps you invested in this story. What is truly minded blowing is the ending, it all becomes very real for the reader. Lives will be lost but more will live as they try to bring the unnatural to life.
The narrator does and outstanding job pulling the reader in for me she made this story so real with her tones, the way she pulled in the danger and those that really seemed cold (which is how they should seem to us) to those trying to bring the serpent to life and those trying to keep it dead. There were no background noises or any places where the volume changes. No repeat of words or uneven tones or sounds. Her voice is very pleasant from her males who are bold to her sweet older men, he females from the elderly to the very young. I had no trouble understanding or knowing what each character was feeling or who was talking. Ms. Giguere has put a lot of time and thought into this audio you can tell from her powerful character voice, their tones and emotions. I have really enjoyed this and cant wait to listen to more of her work.
Ms. Penn has taken time to do her research penning a wonderful tale of the end of time. Her books are so real you get lost in them. Her characters become family you want to pull them in to protect them from the evil. You can feel the danger coming off the pages as it wraps you in its arms feeling like you are there. Even the good are normal they have done things they are not proud of you have no trouble relating to them. I am not sure what happen to the lady who was taking the venom. I am not sure if I was so caught up in what was going on at the time that I missed it or if we were not told. I had no other issues.

Twenty years ago the boundary between worlds dropped. It will be a while before the political, social, and religious upheaval settles down, but the good news is now you can book a vacation to Valhalla as easily as you can go to Las Vegas. Your real estate agent might be a Wood Sprite. Your mechanic might be a Minotaur. For better or for worse, Supernormals are part of Earth life.
Five years ago Tessa Reddick was convicted of killing her entire family: 37 Witches from one of the most powerful covens in history. She's been locked up at Lakeland Psychiatric hospital, still grieving but mad as hell at whoever - or whatever - put her there.
Half an hour ago, a handsome FBI agent showed up to spring Tessa from the joint - but there's a price. A series of murders is picking off Supernormals, and the feds need the help of the last known Reddick Witch.
Determined to learn who set her up for the fall, help solve the FBI crimes, and maybe get closer to her mysterious (and seriously hot) Dark Elf partner, Tessa is more than willing to play witchy Nancy Drew.
But Tessa has few friends left, and something is coming for her, too - maybe it's the one who framed her and killed her coven or perhaps a new foe with a taste for Witch's blood.
Solving crimes, doing magic, drinking bourbon. It's dirty work, but somebody has to do it.

    Fun, Twisting & Turning Read
Muddy Waters blends classic whodunnit and fantasy with quick pace. The protagonist Tessa is sharp and funny. She is an easy character to get behind and root for! And she is a witch who drinks bourbon to boot! The blending of the worlds between Louisville and Otherwhere make for lucious, contrasting settings. The story zigs and zags and keeps me engaged. Fun!
Mix 3 parts Bourbon, 2 parts Joss Whedon, 1 part each Phillip Pullman and Patrick Rothfuss, and a sprinkle of The X-Files.
Otherwhere is a quick, fun read. The author sets up this amazing alternate universe but smoothly weaves it into real life now. Our guide through this world is Tessa, the protagonist--and I love her. I laughed out loud at some of her (internal and external) dialogue. I also enjoyed finding hints of the works of Joss Whedon, Phillip Pullman, and Patrick Rothfuss, plus a little Mulder and Scully. Sara Thompson is in good company.
    Witches are where it's at!
Very fun read! I love the quick witted female protagonist Tessa, and I can't wait to read more about her adventures. I really like that the story is set in the real world suddenly grappling with magic and "otherness" and all the uncomfortableness that arises when we are confronted with something we don't understand.
I'm ready for more in this magical new world.
    Don't miss this one!!
This book just sucks you in and won't let go. Entertaining with a smart, sassy protagonist. Really stands out as a must read in the urban fantasy genre. Move over Harry Dresden, Tess is coming through!
Must read! Mystery and action is always good, add in tyres characters, and it's amazing!!
Book keeps you wanting more and it's hard to put down. Her description of the characters bring them to life. Can't wait for the next book!!

    Publisher's Summary:
A lot lizard is a female hooker who works a highway truck stop as her territory. When trucker Bill Ketter looks for a little relaxation and release, he discovers, too late, that he has bitten off more than he can chew. In fact, his lot lizard is the one that does the biting. She is a vampire, one of a number who move from one truck stop to the next under the watchful and vicious eyes of the repulsive Carsey Brothers.
Against his will, Bill becomes one of the undead. He follows the brothers and their cargo to another stop where he meets his ex-wife and children, and Bill finds himself battling the vampires and their age-old leader for the life of his teenaged son.
Garton has created another small masterpiece, contemporary adult horror at its most gruesome and loaded with extra doses of sex and gore. The confined setting creates a perfect claustrophobic stage for the story and the hellaciously quick pace never lets the action slow down.

    A Lot to Like Here
Itâs sometimes tough to gauge whether a reader will enjoy a particular book or not, but you can tell whether a particular person will like Ray Gartonâs âLot Lizardsâ simply by gauging the reaction to this three-word description of the book: Vampire. Truckstop. Hookers. Anyone who doesnât like books that involve one or more of those words will not like âLot Lizards.â On the other hand, readers whose initial reaction to the description is to slap themselves on the side of the head and wonder why no one thought of such a plot theme before will have a lot of fun.
As I learned when I read the book, a lot lizard is a prostitute who frequents highway rest stops and provides temporary professional companionship to the truckers spending time there. In âLot Lizards,â they provide a good bit more than companionship. These lot lizards are vampires who, by day, spend time in a large trailer full of coffins, being driven around by a pair of brothers who operate a long distance moving company. At night, thes brothers park their rigs at a remote truckstop and let their cargo out to feed on their customers. The brothersâ second trailer contains the vampire queen, an extremely powerful creature that has turned the various lot lizards into vampires over the years.
As âLot Lizardsâ begins, this unsavory crew sets up shop in the dead of winter at a rest stop that winds up becoming completely isolated when an auto accident on the main highway closes the road and all the human truckers and other travelers find themselves snowed in. As the night progresses, the humans gradually learn the full extent of the horrors that await them in the truckstop and barricade themselves in the truckstop diner for safety.
For the most part, âLot Lizardsâ is simply a lot of fast paced, action, horror fun, a variant on other works about a group of stranded people such as Stephen Kingâs âThe Mist.â Thereâs plenty of action in âLot Lizards,â some of it rather gruesome, and a few genuinely shocking moments. This book was written in 1991, and the time period plays a major part in the story. For beginners, there were no cell phones, Wi Fi or any type of Internet service back then, so the travelers were definitely stranded with only some unreliable landlines to contact the outside world.
