Caitlin's performance was great, it was the story that was lacking. I liked the idea, but it was too heart throby (yes, i know that's not a word).

i was bored, so yes, but no.

Amazing! Treat yourself to this.

This is a killer, fast pace story of love and war and death and family. Cori takes you in the ride in the air you've been waiting for.

Not my cup of tea.

Too much teenage angst and not enough action. Nice enough but I'm just the wrong audience for this kind of book.

Dystopian YA Top Gun

It loses points with me for blatantly lifting the plot from a Tom Cruise movie. Granted, it was a good one, and this author pulls it off well enough that I cried for "Goose", but I don't know that I can forgive the whole Top Gun thing. Great execution of the stolen plot, great world building, awesome Starbuck-swap. But no top less, sweaty volleyball game.

Not Drakes best

This is not a HAMMER'S SLAMMERS type of book which is information not criticism. Drake bases many of his books on historical events which are usually very old, obscure or both. This time the story is loosely based on the American War of Independence & the main character on George Washington. The outcomes of the siege of Oxford & the battles of Port Trent & Teneyk are therefore somewhat predictable even if the details are not. The story of the fighting at Oxford is one of the problems. DO NOT READ FURTHER if you do not want story details. At Oxford General Allenson uses the peculiar mist of a swamp to protect his battle winning position from Brasilian lasers. The enemy sally against this position is conducted with knives, fists & clubs as lasers will not penetrate the mist. A great point is made of the danger of igniting the unstable mist. Why didn't the Brasilians simply eliminate the position using this characteristic? More troubling is the lack of projectile weapons, the implication being that neither side has access to any weapon of this type. Yet projectile mortars are available. At Port Trent there is reference to a weapon firing bullets. Later in that battle, the Brasilians deploy flame throwers which if used at Oxford would have been catastrophic for Allenson's position in the volatile mist. In addition lasers are "worse than useless within a continuum field" so vehicles carry spring guns which shoot ceramic bolts. These would have been quite useful in the swamp mist. Had the Brasilians stood off in their boats with a supply of rocks, Allenson's men would have had a serious problem. The rock suggestion reminds me that both sides use handgrenades. The entire premise of the key fighting at Oxford is badly flawed. This is so atypical of Drakes' writing that I am at a loss to understand it. This book, if judged against Drakes' other work, is a one or two star at best. Judged against all other scifi, I am giving it a three.

An excellent twist on a contemporary topic

Where does The Mutatus Nullification rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

Among the top 10 (and that is saying alot!) I'm an avid reader and audiobooks are a great way for me to get my story fix while driving or riding my bicycle.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Mutatus Nullification?

The story is so full of memorable moments, that it would be hard to choose just one, and might also be a bit of a spoiler for those who haven't read the book yet!

What does John David Krygelski bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

John's reading of the book gives a bit of an insight into how he envisioned the characters, their attitudes and personalities.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

This book, and the Mutatus Procedure are both excellent books which explore issues from so called "fringe" beliefs (in other words, ones that aren't popular because they aren't accepted by the masses... but then again look at Gallileo...) to mind control, and the reasons behind many of our current events and issues. I highly recommend both books to anyone who enjoys a good mystery and thriller!

What made the experience of listening to Sharecropping the Apocalypse: A Prepper Is Cast Adrift the most enjoyable?

Hillbillies Clem and Bertha were so enjoyable I wanted a whole book just about them. I laughed more at these two wonderful characters than anyone in my last 125 books.

When the story switched to the fantastic adventure on Clem's plantation.

Delightful

Great variety of premises and perspectives, with just the right amount of humor. An entirely enjoyable listen.

An Excellent Collection of SF & Fantasy Stories

Alex Shvartsman is an expert at writing science fiction and fantasy. If you appreciate humour and like these genres, you will love this book. There may be the odd story that just doesn't work for you but with 40 stories in this book there is always something coming that you will love.

My favourite stories in this collection are two stories featuring something called 'The Watch' and two stories featuring a magical pawnshop, which includes the title story 'Explaining Cthulhu to Grandma'.

Tina Connolly did an excellent job reading the stories in this collection. The different inflections her voice really helped to differentiate between characters and it was always easy to follow who was speaking during the stories.

If you are still on the fence about purchasing this book, let me assure you that this book has everything. This book even has cats. And by cats, what I really mean is SPACE CATS. How amazing is that?

A wonderful find, a thoughtful and intelligent collection of stories

I was looking for a Cthulhu book and seeing the title I dove in...a bit too eagerly! Luckily it worked out.

It starts with a fawning foreword which put me in A bad frame of mind because I don't Want the authors friend tell me how good they are as an author. That's for me to decide. That didn't bode well.

However it got into the first story which was whimsical and amusing and thankfully was the beginning of a rollercoaster of intelligent, sensitive and thoughtful short stories. A wonderful variety of fantasy and sci-fi all flavoured with the character of the author. There is a little commentary after each story and the problem With audio books you can't really just skip past them. I don't want to know where EVERY story was first published.

So, wonderful stories but the book was let down By the inclusion of too much unnecessary commentary. Don't let that put you off however. If you're looking for an intelligent and sensitively written anthology, this is for you.

The author clearly has done extensive research into Nazi scientific history, and this was interesting. That said, the format and execution of this mess left alot to be desired.

Much better editing, updated continuity, and a clearer, more consistent performance.

Lose the French woman's ongoing insertion into the story. Goofy.

Probation is Sirius business

Stephen Renneberg's the Antaran Codex is a solid sci-fi thriller with enough plot twists to maintain the tension through to the very end. Sirius Kade is a merchant captain with a secret intelligence operative background. Along with his crew, a drunken oaf and an alien outcast, as well as a sometime girlfriend who can't decide whether to swindle or bed him, Sirius goes undercover and finds himself in the middle of a plan to keep Earth from joining the galactic club of recognized sentients.

The sci-fi elements are largely physics with faster than light drives along with various unremarkable alien species. The science is not the focal point, rather an elaborate mystery that Sirius must unravel is the main draw. The pacing is excellent with a good mixture of action scenes and detective sleuthing.

The narration was quite respectable with a good range of voices and interesting renditions of the various alien races. While clearly a self contained storyline, the characters and this universe, make for intriguing follow-on installment potential.

Terrific Science Fiction

I love this book and this reading! I only had a problem with the voice choice for Mace, which is why I gave the performance 4/5. Other than that I can't wait for the second book to show up on audible!

An ok book and an ok performance

I think this is a book more suited for readers who are new to space operas. The reader sounded very neutral and all the characters sounded alike. Overall this was an ok book but isn't on the same level as books like the lost fleet series or odyssey one series.

Ruined by lackluster narrition and bad science.

I have listened to dozens of recorded books mostly in the Sci Fi or Fantasy genre. I was sorely disappointed by this novel. The narrator did not seem to be suited well to this kind of book. He spoke with a monotone for most of the novel. And made it difficult to tell the difference between descriptive narrition and conversation. Words were even replaced by cheesy sound effects in some scenes. The novel looked like fun at first. What's not to like about huge space battles. But half way through the story it takes a left turn and leaves space combat behind. My greatest beef is how the author seems to have forgone even basic physics or even the slimmest reasearch into his use of 'nukes'. I am willing and even enjoy suspending disbelief when reading this kind of book. However the horrible science and lack of convincing descriptions were to much to overcome. Frankly the only reason I continued to listen was to see how bad it could get.

This is by far one of the worst books I have listened too. There is no military experience or thought put into this book.
