  • Unreliable instant Covid tests caused the White House outbreak. The same tests they're sending out to the states. They're worse than no tests at all.

61 of 65 positive tests at a clinic in VT were false.  The manufacturer also acknowledges that it misses 1 in 3 infections in people who are sick with Covid and showing symptoms, even more in people without symptoms ( for whom the tests aren't recommended at all).  This isn't the only incident where they failed that badly though. The outbreak in the White House can be partially blamed on these same inaccurate instant tests, which failed to detect infected people who then spread their infection to the entire White House.

The false negatives will miss cases and cause deaths. The false positives will cause people who are not sick to be referred to labs for PCR testing which will make their backlog even worse and once that happens, we will WISH that it still only took 10 days to get a Covid test result

If the Trump Administration was serious about fighting covid-19, they would work on building up laboratory PCR testing capacity so that we could get results within a day or two at most and actually begin tracing contacts in time to prevent further infections.. But they don't care about fighting it until the vaccine is here. Their strategy is herd immunity. It has been from the beginning and it will be until this time next year when the vaccine finally becomes available.

  • Trump keeps finding new ways to be the worst leader ever.

He has emboldened the antimaskers people and this will result in violence between them and people who just want to protect each other. He has showed nothing but contempt for the people who Serve and Protect him everyday by taking his mask off in a building full of people who don't want to get sick while he is contagious and infected and spreading the virus. He is shut down negotiations for another stimulus package by saying that we will get our stimulus when he gets his re-election, trying to bully us into voting for him or else we won't get are second check. He has drastically underestimated how tough we are and how hard we are to buy off. He has also suggested that blue states are the problem, even though he accepted the job of being the president all 50 states regardless of the party affiliation of their governors.  He has spread more this information about coronavirus which is guaranteed to get people sick, hurt, and killed. In just a couple of days he went from being the worst leader of our time to the worst leader of all time.

  • This break from Trump's rhetoric could be our only opportunity to talk some sense into his supporters

Since Trump started campaigning, he has been behind that microphone nearly every day, sowing division between the left and the right, playing up people's anxieties, fears, and hatreds, and generally pushing relentlessly a different version of reality than the one that actually exists.  But for a short window of time, while he is hospitalized, his voice might actually have a chance to fade from their ears for just long enough that they might be reachable. This might be our only chance to talk some sense into them and appeal to their decency, if they have any left at all.

  • Trump pretends to take Covid seriously by providing unreliable instant tests

Covid antibodies used in these instant tests often attach themselves to other SARS viruses, which are present in millions of people.  This can cause an alarming number of false positives, which led to an incident in Manchester, Vermont where 61 out of 65 people who tested positive didn't actually have Coronavirus.

Distributing these tests is better than nothing, but just barely.  A better use of resources would be to build labs and hire personnel that can perform more reliable PCR testing on a scale that would give us test results in time for contact tracing to be useful, but Trump will never do that.  He is content to let us keep dying by the thousands until the vaccine is universally available.

  • Whataboutism: the only way Trump and his supporters can ever win a debate

Donald Trump and the Republican Party have become so corrupt and criminal over the past four years that they have literally no leg to stand on in any political debate. So how do they win so many of them? They do this by deflecting, pointing out completely unrelated matters to try to lure their opponents off-topic, and drawing false equivalencies between well-intentioned mistakes on the Democrat side and the constant, clear-eyed violation of the law in broad daylight by the Donald Trump and the Republicans.  I'll tell you how to beat them and nail them to the wall, every single time.

  • Many want Trump to die of Covid-19 - Twitter will be penalizing users who Tweet that wish.

I've spoken to multiple people myself who want Trump to die of Coronavirus. Most of them are loathe to admit that they want that.  They only want him gone because his policies have cost so many people their lives.  They know what everyone knows. No matter who takes over, they will do a better job. No matter who takes over, our chances of getting a testing program that would allow us to start saving lives before the vaccine arrives will improve if he is gone.

I personally hope he survives, but I won't judge anyone who doesn't agree.
