Live From My Office

Is Dr. Ian K. Smith the coolest writer there is... ever? Maybe.

What I can say for sure is that he never stops moving and even when he's not trying to make us healthier - he's still working! He has written his 25th book and it's really cool if you know Chicago.

All the scenes are set in the real places in Chicago where the action happens in this book. It's a murder mystery and the key figures all have very familiar names...including one guy who might be ME?!?

These are such strange times.

We're very aware of military men and women when we cross paths and will usually thank them for their service. Yet a survey not long ago said 2/3 of Americans don't know what Memorial Day means.

So please listen to this encore presentation of LIVE FROM MY OFFICE with a real American hero, Gen. John Borling.

Always remember the summers we celebrate only can be enjoyed because of those who have their lives to keep us free.

Thanks for listening to this show and hear The Steve Cochran Show on the radio every morning on THE BIG 89 WLS!

SHOW NOTES

Memorial Day 2023 will be recognized at the Logan statue in Grant Park.  That's right off Michigan Ave next Monday morning at 11am. Please bring your family or celebrate and remember wherever you live!

My trip to Europe was fascinating, moving, educational and more. We saw where the Battle of the Bulge and D-Day happened. We saw Paris from then and now.

It proved what we know. When cowards send young men to war both sides die.  Civilians are killed.  Property is destroyed.  Lives are changed forever.

The good guys won. The world was saved.  I'm very glad we saw where heroes of the greatest generation lived and died... for us! If you're able, I highly recommend you see what we saw.

Thanks for listening to some highlights from when I checked into my own radio show during the trip, and enjoy these pictures I posted across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Mark Decarlo joins me to talk about "the business" -and baseball - and even though I've known him for 30 years I never knew he holds an all time game show record (we talk about that too).

This is part one of our beliefs and advice on the question we both get most often.

"How do I get into the business?"

Father Tom Hurley and Rabbi Evan Moffic are back to talk about the realities of the faiths in 2023. We also get into interfaith marriages because it's that time of the year

These two leaders are young, honest, and inspiring and I'm very glad to have them back on this new episode of LIVE FROM MY OFFICE

SHOW NOTES
Here's an actual Priest and a Rabbi joke for those of you who read the show notes.

A Priest and a Rabbi were eating together when the priest said, "Wow, this ham is delicious...I know it’s against your religion, but when are you going to break down and finally have some?”

The Rabbi smiled and said, “at your wedding!”

Father Tom Hurley spent 24 years at Old St. Pats and his passion, honesty, and sense of humor has made him extremely popular in Chicago and he's enjoying this new chapter at Marist High School.

Rabbi Evan Moffic is the author of more than a dozen books and the Rabbi of Makom Solel Lakeside Congregation. Learn more about help and his congregation.

Paul Douglas, meteorologist

He is one of the best minds in science and he's had it with climate deniers.  He thinks we should leave a planet to our grandkids to that they can live on...he's crazy like that.

Paul Douglas joins me to answer those who have denied the facts, and to clear up the myths on global warming and climate change.

It's a funny, honest, brutal conversation that may inspire you or really piss you off on this all new episode of LIVE FROM MY OFFICE.
