I've had so many great conversations with friends and colleagues about what we see happening in the fitness industry, and thought to myself, "I wish we would have recorded that."
...So that's exactly what the Coaches Corner is about.
Join me for the third installment of a conversation I had with Lizzie Wright, as we discuss some of the tools, tips, and strategies we've used with our own clients, as well as share the conversations and coaching calls that we've recently had.
Please note that the original conversation went for about 90 minutes, so I recommend listening to the entirety of the conversation to understand the full context, as there is some crossover between the topics we cover...which will be/ have been dropped as separate episodes.

Shaun Kober is a Mindset & Performance Specialist, with a unique skillset forged in the trenches, through the various stages of life.
"I shouldn’t be in the position I am right now."
The odds were stacked against me:
● Poor family on welfare, eldest of 6 kids, parents didn’t work, abusive step-dad, no electricity or running water for a 6 years period of my life
● Caught up with the wrong crowd, stealing, drugs, skipping school
● At 14 years old, I sat on a bus for 3 days with $50 in my pocket, to travel to the next State over West, to begin a new life in the workforce - 2000
14 - 20: I grew up and learned how to become a man through work and rugby
20 - 26: I lived, trained and fought as a professional soldier, at a high level
26 - 32: I became a personal trainer, after failing in my pursuit to become a firefighter
32 - 38: I worked with, and won world titles with some of the best athletes on the planet, as their strength and conditioning coach

The "All or nothing" mindset is killing your GAINZ.
"Something is better than nothing" is a much more practical and sustainable approach to...well...life.
In this episode of my 5 minute fitness tips, I discuss how I've structured a modular training philosophy that allows me to focus on 20 minute blocks of specificity. This was a great way of breaking my days up during lockdown, but also taught me the multiple benefits of having a modular system that allows me to focus on what I can do in the time that I have available.
Once you understand these principles, it makes it easy to get some work in that is going to be beneficial, in whatever time you have each day.

2020 was a shit year for a lot of people...and 2021 could be as well...
What I have learned over my 35 years of life, is that our perception is shaped by how we interpret our experiences.
How we perceive the world directly impacts our emotions, decisions, mental, spiritual and physical health and wellbeing.
There are two types of people in the world, all viewing the world through a window, or by the reflection in the mirror.
The first person looks in the mirror when things are going well, and give themselves a pat on the back for their success. These same people look out the window when things are not going so well, pointing the finger at those around them for not showing the necessary support, or the bad luck that has come their way.
The second person however, looks in the mirror when things are not going to plan. They ask what they have done to put themselves in their current situation, and what they can do to progress in a positive manner. These people look out the window when things are going well, and attribute their progress to those around them, and fortunate circumstances that have aided in their success.
