Locked On Angels - Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Angels

The Los Angeles Angels fell short of a comeback win on Tuesday night, falling 6-4 to the Tampa Bay Rays. After Patrick Sandoval labored through another start, going 5 innings and throwing 101 pitches, he left the game with 4 runs charged to him, and the middle relievers were not able to help either. Despite a Mike Trout 2-run-home run and a little bit of life in the bottom of the 9th, the Halos were not able to win this one. We'll talk about what happened and ask the question; does Patrick Sandoval have a game plan when he goes out for a start?

Then, we're all excited about Tyler Anderson's recent success across his first two starts of the year. So, how is he accomplishing this? We'll give you a breakdown of the results so far, what's changed in his pitches, and how he's throwing them in order to have so much success so far this season in segment 2!

Plus, are you ready to keep your eye on two pitchers that the Angels could turn to, especially one in the near future and one down the road? We've got the lowdown on two pitchers YOU should be watching in segment 3!

The Los Angeles Angels put it all together behind another fantastic start from Tyler Anderson, who made Halo history against the Tampa Bay Rays. What did he do, and how did the Angels come away with the 7-1 win? We'll break down Monday night's game against the Rays and share how Mike Trout, Taylor Ward, Anthony Rendon, Mickey Moniak, and Luis Rengifo all had great nights in segment 1!

Then, Angels play-by-play announcer Wayne Randazzo absolutely TORCHED Major League Baseball on Saturday night in light of the decision to end Nolan Schanuel's on-base streak to start his career, and what Wayne had to say points to MLB's biggest issue: it can't get out of its own way. Jon breaks down what Wayne said and why it was spot on in segment 2!

Plus, what should the Angels do with Nolan Schanuel in light of his slow start to the 2024 season? The Super Halo Bros. share what they think is the best course of action the Halos could take with Schanuel in segment 3!

The Los Angeles Angels took 1 game out of 3 from the Boston Red Sox this weekend, as the Halos celebrated their home opener Friday night by mounting a nice comeback, only to lose the lead and fall 8-6. while the Angels had enough offense to win Friday night if not for Jose Soriano's struggles, Saturday and Sunday were different stories. The Angels were able to take advantage of the Red Sox defensive issues and win 2-1 behind a terrific Reid Detmers start, but on Sunday, a lack of offense and situational hitting cost them badly after Chase Silseth surrendered 3 solo home runs and the "garbage time" bullpen arms couldn't keep it close. The Super Halo Bros. break down the weekend that was on today's show, and will share their thoughts on the lineup's struggles, why they've been so inconsistent, and why Ron Washington should feel the need to give more playing time to the young players like Jo Adell and Mickey Moniak. We'll cover it all on today's Locked On Angels!

The Los Angeles Angels complete the sweep of the Miami Marlins after a nice bounceback start from Patrick Sandoval who limited the Marlins to 2 runs across 5.2 innings. It was a great recovery for the Halos starter, and he was given plenty of run support from the likes of Taylor Ward, Brandon Drury, and Jo Adell! We'll break the game down for you and talk about how the Halos got it done in segment 1!

Then, the Boston Red Sox are coming to town for the Angels Home Opening Series this weekend, and we'll take a look at the starting pitching matchups and share our keys to a winning series!

Plus, we wrap our look at Sam Blum's interview with Perry Minasian as GMPM speaks about the future of the franchise, its young core, and his own future in segment 3!

The Los Angeles Angels got another win on Tuesday, as they defeated the Miami Marlins 3-1, thanks to a fantastic outing from Tyler Anderson! With the bullpen taxed from the last few days, Anderson gave the Halos exactly what they needed in the form of 7 shutout innings! Aaron Hicks homered and later drove in another RBI, as did Taylor Ward, and the Halos made it three-in-a-row to go 3-2 on the year! We'll break down the game and tell you what caused Anderson to do so well in segment 1!

Then, hold onto your butts, Angel fans, because the "trade Trout" talk has already begun, less than a week into the season. So, what gives? Why is this happening, and where should the real focus be? Perhaps, baseball media should turn their attention to Arte Moreno? Let's talk about it in segment 2!

Plus, we continue our look at Sam Blum of the Athletic's conversation with GM Perry Minasian and his offseason "aggressive" comments. What did Perry have to say, and what's our verdict? We'll tell you in segment 3!

The Los Angeles Angels win their second game in a row and climb to 2-2 on the season, thanks to Mike Trout hammering two home runs, Nolan Schanuel hitting one of his own, and the bullpen picking up Chase Silseth after a rough 1st inning against the Miami Marlins! So, how were the Angels able to overcome a 0-4 deficit? We'll give you all the details and discuss Anthony Rendon at leadoff, Jo Adell's nice game, and how the bullpen was able to keep the Halos in this one to complete the comeback in segment 1!

Then, Ron Washington was asked if the Angels' young core could end up being like the Orioles, who have an exciting core of great, young, and talented players. What did he say, and what do the Super Halo Bros. think about this? We'll give you all the details in segment 2!

Plus, Sam Blum of The Athletic spoke with Perry Minasian for an in-depth interview, and we're breaking down each question this week on the show. Today, what did Perry have to say about the Angels' offseason? We'll share his thoughts and ours with you in segment 3!

The Los Angeles Angels were able to get in the win column on Sunday thanks to a nice start from Reid Detmers and a spectacular relief outing from Jose Soriano! It came a day after they had a very similar loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, after Griffin Canning left with a 3-1 deficit that ballooned into an insurmountable 9-run-no-outs inning for the O's thanks to the Angels bullpen. We've got all the details from what happened Saturday and Sunday, including our thoughts on Ron Washington calling a team meeting after the first two losses in segments 1 and 2! Then, we'll take a look at the probables for this week's matchup against the Miami Marlins! which starters should the Angels be extra prepared for as they meet the Fish in Miami? We'll give you the down low on Max Meyer, Jesus Luzardo, and A.J. Puk in segment 3!

The Los Angeles Angels couldn't get to the Orioles' Corbin Burnes other than a Mike Trout home run in his first AB, but it wouldn't have mattered, as Patrick Sandoval set the tone for what might've been one of the worst Opening Day performances in the team's history. Unfortunately, Sandoval couldn't locate pitches, gave up hits, and surrendered walks on his way to a 5-run deficit in just 1.2 innings. We've got a full recap of what went wrong in segment 1.

Then, what exactly went wrong for the Angels in this one? For all the talk about fundamentals, it sure seemed like it all fell out of their minds in game 1. So, what gives? We'll tell you what was bad, what little good there was, and discuss why this ALWAYS seems to happen to Patrick Sandoval when he's on the mound in segments 2 and 3!

The Los Angeles Angels start the 2024 MLB season in Baltimore against the Orioles for Opening Day! On today's Locked On Angels, we're talking about this big opening matchup against a team that won 101 games last year and added a true ace in the form of Corbin Burnes and how the Halos can stand a chance this weekend! So, what's the key to beating Corbin Burnes on Opening Day? How can the Halos have success this weekend? What do the starters, Mike Trout, and the rest of the Angels have to do to walk away with a series win? We'll tell you all about it!

Plus, we're revisiting our Spring Training HOT TAKES that we provided before Spring began, and we're seeing which ones we hit on and which ones were total misses! What did we get right? Did Anthony Rendon let us down? Were we right about who's making the team? Let's get into it!
