Locked On Angels - Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Angels

The Los Angeles Angels got back to it against the Royals yesterday and saw a great start from Reid Detmers, while Miguel Sanó homered while trying to make a case for himself to make the Halos' Opening Day roster. We'll recap yesterday's game and provide you with some of the intrasquad game results, and we'll ask the question: Will Miguel Sanó make the 26-man to start the season? It's all happening in segment 1!

Then, Ben Joyce participated in a CHAOS drill the other day! What is that, who thought of it, and why was it important? We'll tell you all the details and talk about if it worked in segment 2!

Plus, we've gone over the team stats in Spring Training, but what about the individuals who are definitely going to be on the roster this year? We'll give you the numbers for each member of the Angels' lineup and share what the numbers tell us in segment 3!

Los Angeles Angels pitching coach Barry Enright is pushing for the Halos to build some pitching labs at their training facility in Arizona, and while it's much needed and great news for player development, is it actually going to happen? The Super Halo Bros. discuss why it's needed, if it will happen, and why it's necessary for the future of the team in segment 1!

Then, Blake Snell got everyone "wide-eyed" over the weekend, as speculation on if and when he was going to sign somewhere was fueled by his eyeball emoji story on Instagram. So, if the rumors about him wanting to be in Anaheim are true, should we as fans even want him? We'll talk about why the Halos would want him and why we're confident in the changes he made last year in segment 2!

Plus, what have we learned from Spring Training so far? What lessons can we take away from how the Halos have played, how the coaching staff has managed, and the performance on the field? Let's talk about it in segment 3!

The Los Angeles Angels gave Halo fans PTSD on Monday, as they had quite the clunker of a game against the Texas Rangers. What in the world happened? The Super Halo Bros. discuss Patrick Sandoval's struggles, why they happened, and the disappointing defense throughout that led to the Rangers running all over the bases. Plus, they'll discuss the importance of Ron Washington recognizing the team's shortcomings and being willing to address them in segment 1.

Then, Wash has come to Anaheim with his signature defensive drills, and they've brought a lot of hope to Angel fans wanting to see defensive improvements from the infield. So, what are the drills, how do they help the players, and what do they players have to say about them? We'll talk about it in segment 2!

Plus, what pitching stats and offensive stats stand out for the Halos this Spring Training? We'll tell you what they are, which ones actually matter, and which ones can show signs of hope despite it only being Spring Training. We'll tell you what stats to watch for in segment 3!

The Los Angeles Angels weren't able to put up any offense in their game on Thursday, and while Griffin Canning struggled out of the gate, he did only allow 1 ER in his outing. What was going wrong for him in the first inning, and how did the lineup without Mike Trout, Anthony Rendon, Taylor Ward, and Brandon Drury look? We'll tell you how they performed, plus, how pitching coach Barry Enright seemed to have the magic touch during this game in segment 1!

Then, it's FANMAIL FRIDAY! We're answering your questions what we're looking for from the team to know that fundamental changes are being passed down from the coaching staff, which Halos could be All-Stars this year, and would another starting pitcher "move the needle" even if the media says it wouldn't? And, would a standing ovation for Anthony Rendon be possible on Opening Day? We'll get to these questions and much more in segments 2 and 3!

The Los Angeles Angels played 2 games yesterday, as they held split-squad games that saw Patrick Sandoval against the Oakland A's and Reid Detmers versus the Chicago Cubs. Each starter from the Halos had very different outcomes and demonstrated the way things often go in Spring, as Sandoval struggled while Detmers did well. Plus, Mike Trout hits his first Spring Training home run, a grand slam! We'll give you the details from both games in segments 1 and 2!

Plus, Carlos Estevez knows how to better prepare for the 2024 season, as his first season as a full-time closer in 2023 helped him learn a lot of lessons about how to take care of himself and not run out of steam so quickly as he did last year. What did he have to say about his changes? We'll tell you in segment 3!

The Los Angeles Angels faced their former teammate Shohei Ohtani for the first time yesterday, as the Halos collected their 6th victory in a row against the Dodgers, 4-0! Not only was it weird to see Ohtani against the Angels, but the pitching blanked our neighbors up the 5 freeway, a nice sign of things hopefully to come from the pitchers available this season. Mike and Jon share their thoughts on how it felt to face Ohtani wearing Dodger Blue, as well as your thoughts, plus, we've got a full recap of what went right for the Angels in segment 1!

Then, Mike Trout spoke to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic recently, and shared that he's well aware of the noise surrounding his loyalty to Anaheim and the criticism that comes along with it. So, what did Trout have to say on the matter? We'll tell you and share our thoughts in segment 2!

Plus, year after year, the Angels farm system is ranked toward the bottom of all 30 teams. But, do the Angels actually care about that? They say they don't, and we'll tell you why in segment 3!

The Los Angeles Angels picked up a win over the Texas Rangers on Monday, with a great second outing from Tyler Anderson, followed up by 2 well-thrown innings of scoreless pitching from Jose Suarez, who made his first appearance of the Spring! How did these two perform in addition to the rest of the team? Who stood out on the basepaths and at the dish? We'll tell you how Logan O'Hoppe, Zach Neto, and Miguel Sano all performed in segment 1!

Then, Mike Trout knows the issues that have caused him problems at the plate, and is ready to work on them and become the MVP-caliber star he knows he can be! So, what is it that he's identified that has seen his contact rate drop over the last three seasons? We'll tell you what it is and how he plans to fix it in segment 2!

Plus, the Halos have stolen 16 total bases coming into Monday's game in Spring Training, as well as looking much more aggressive on the basepaths. What's behind the emphasis on this change, and what does Ron Washington have to say about it? We'll break it down in segment 3!

The Los Angeles Angels won all three of their games over the weekend, and the Super Halo Bros. are here to provide a recap of each win! Reid Detmers got his first turn on the mound this spring and struggled. What were the reasons behind it, and should we be concerned? How did Griffin Canning do in his 2nd go-around this spring? Plus, is there reason to be worried about Mike Trout? We'll get into all of the details from the weekend in segments 2 and 3!

Plus, we learned over the weekend that the Angels plan on stretching out Jose Soriano and Andrew Wantz from relievers to starters. What's the reasoning behind that, and is this a smart move? We'll take a look at the starting depth and also look into why this move is now a viable option since the Angels bullpen might be becoming more clear as we get closer to the start of the season. We'll discuss it all in segment 1!
