Locked On Avalanche - Daily Podcast On The Colorado Avalanche

Another day, another day with more trade talk surrounding the Avalanche. Still no movement from the team as the deadline approaches. Mikko Rantanen got good news from an MRI where they found no broken bones therefore avoiding surgery and could return earlier than expected (but still will be out 'weeks'). And a really good article on espn.com about Ian Cole and what he went through after last season which caused him to not be able to walk for three months. Tune in and subscribe!

The trade deadline is around the corner but teams are not waiting to get puzzle pieces as the playoffs draw near, except for the Avalanche. In true fashion the Avs are getting a late jump on the deadline deals. That's not to say they won't. A lot of names are being attached to the Avs as a potential destination for a trade, we just have to wait and see who and if the Avs pull the trigger. We preview the game tonight against the Islanders and run the game through the trusty simulator. Tune in and subscribe!

What a game! The Avalanche might have only picked up a point, but they fought back to send the game into OT. And we all know how Avalanche games in OT normally end. There are a lot of positives to take away from the game, but a huge negative was Mikko Rantanen slamming into the boards. It didn't look good and he will be out for weeks. Does this pretty much force the Avs hand in making some sort of deal at or before the deadline? Tune in and subscribe!

The Stadium Series game between the Colorado Avalanche and Los Angeles Kings was supposed to be an event people will tell their families about for years, and it will be. For all the wrong reasons. The Avs losing was the least of the problems at the Air Force Base in Colorado Springs. So what happened? Avs fan Nicci Field who was there to witness it all joins the show to recount her experience. This one stings. The Avs lose a 3rd period lead and lose a tough one to the Washington Capitals, but they held Alex Ovechkin to zero points, so that's a plus. Mikko Rantanen will join the military following the season (not for life. Country laws). And people in New York might be saying their farewells to Henrik Lundqvist. Could he be coming to the Avs?? Nazem Kadri's injury seems more serious than it looked and he is out week to week. Does this mean the Avs hand is now forced and they must make a move before the trade deadline? Colorado struggled but managed to get past Ottawa for the second time in a week and their big match-up against the Washington Capitals is now must see hockey as they game has been moved to the national stage.

Thanks to your humble host feeling under the weather we had to push back the weekly Fandom Friday segment until Monday, which maybe was a good thing because Kyle Sullivan could then talk about the solid road trip the Avalanche just finished with a great win in Minnesota. Kyle also talks about how a Southern boy from Alabama because an Avs fan, why Nazem Kadri is his current favorite Avs player and why he feels the Avs should not be buyers at the trade deadline.
