Matt Campbell's departure from Iowa State would undoubtedly have a significant impact on the Big 12.

• Loss of a Top Coach: Campbell has established himself as one of the top coaches in the conference, consistently leading the Cyclones to competitive seasons and achieving significant success.
• Shift in the Power Balance: His departure would create a power vacuum within the conference, potentially altering the competitive landscape.
• Recruiting Impact: Campbell has built strong recruiting relationships within the state of Iowa and beyond. His departure could impact Iowa State's recruiting efforts and potentially benefit other programs in the conference.

While Iowa State will undoubtedly strive to find a suitable replacement, the loss of Campbell would be a significant blow to the program and could have ripple effects throughout the Big 12.

The Big 12 has been active in the transfer portal, and it's showing on On3's top 20 portal class rankings with 6 Big 12 teams ranked higher than Big 10 and SEC powers like Texas, Ohio State and Georgia. All three conferences have aggressively utilized the portal to improve rosters. SEC & Big Ten Prowess: The SEC and Big Ten, with their established recruiting bases and significant resources, continue to attract top-tier talent through both traditional recruiting and the transfer portal.   Big 12's Rise: The Big 12 has made strides in recent years, landing impactful transfers and improving their overall roster quality. Fluid Situation: The transfer portal landscape is constantly evolving, with teams making moves throughout the offseason. While the Big 12 has shown impressive activity in the transfer portal, it's more accurate to describe the situation as a competitive arms race among the top conferences, rather than outright dominance by any single league.

The Baylor Bears are likely using their Texas Bowl loss to LSU as significant motivation heading into the 2025 season.

• Fuel for the Fire: The defeat, despite a strong offensive showing, will serve as a reminder of the areas where the team needs to improve.
• Defensive Deficiencies: The inability to contain LSU's potent offense will likely be a key focus during the offseason. Expect increased emphasis on defensive line play, secondary coverage, and tackling technique.
• Unfinished Business: The loss will fuel a desire to prove themselves and demonstrate that they can compete with top-tier programs.
• Motivation for Recruitment: The experience can also serve as a recruiting tool, showcasing the level of competition and the need for continued improvement to achieve higher goals.

While the loss was disappointing, the Bears can use it as a valuable learning experience and a driving force as they strive for greater success in the upcoming season.

The perception of ESPN having an SEC bias in college football coverage is a common criticism.

• Factors: This perception stems from several factors, including the significant media attention given to SEC programs, the prominence of SEC coaches and analysts on ESPN's platforms, and the network's extensive coverage of SEC games.
• Counterarguments: Some argue that this "bias" is simply a reflection of the SEC's on-field dominance in recent years. The conference has consistently produced top-tier teams and has been a powerhouse in college football.

Ultimately, whether or not ESPN truly favors the SEC is subjective. However, the perception of bias exists and continues to be a topic of discussion among college football fans.

The Big 12 Conference has signed a new media rights deal that includes TNT as a broadcast partner. This agreement will see TNT air a selection of Big 12 football and basketball games, expanding the conference's reach and providing fans with more viewing options.

The addition of TNT to the Big 12's media rights package is seen as a significant move for the conference, further enhancing its visibility and attracting a wider audience.

Following a disappointing loss to LSU in the Texas Bowl, Baylor head coach Dave Aranda has made some changes to his coaching staff, parting ways with outside linebackers coach Caleb Collins and cornerbacks coach Kevin Curtis.

• Staff Restructuring: These moves are likely an effort to address the team's defensive struggles and improve overall performance.
• Focus on Improvement: Aranda is clearly looking to make adjustments to his coaching staff to better position the team for success in the future.
• Coaching Search: Baylor will now begin the process of searching for new coaches to fill these vacancies.

These staff changes signal a shift in direction for the Baylor defense and highlight the ongoing evolution of the coaching staff under Aranda's leadership.

Dave Aranda's roster building at Baylor has been a mix of strategies.

Transfer Portal Utilization: Aranda has been an active participant in the transfer portal, identifying and acquiring impactful players to address immediate needs and upgrade talent across positions.

Emphasis on Defense: Aranda, with his defensive background, has prioritized building a strong and physical defense. He has recruited talented defensive linemen and linebackers to anchor his unit.

Developing Homegrown Talent: While utilizing the transfer portal, Aranda also emphasizes developing homegrown talent. He recruits highly-rated high school prospects and focuses on player development within the program.

Aranda's approach to roster building has shown some success, with Baylor demonstrating improved competitiveness in recent seasons. However, consistency and sustained success will depend on his continued ability to identify and develop talent through a combination of recruiting, player development, and strategic use of the transfer portal.
