Locked On Bruins - Daily Podcast On The Boston Bruins

Less than 3 days after signing Mitchell Mill to an entry-level contract, the Boston Bruins are parting with the young defenseman.

Team President Cam Neely said, "Based on new information, we believe it is the best decision at this time to rescind the opportunity for Mitchell Miller to represent the Boston Bruins." Additionally, the organization will "be reevaluating our internal processes for vetting individuals who wish to earn the privilege of playing in the National Hockey League for the Boston Bruins."

The decision comes amid significant backlash from Bruins players, fans, and media members.

Ian McLaren discusses the decision, breaks down Neely's Monday morning press conference, and argues there's still a price to be paid for the damage caused here.

Plus, a brief look at Saturday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Pooh Bear returns for tonight's game against the St. Louis Blues.

On Friday, the Boston Bruins announced the signing of defenseman Mitchell Miller to an entry-level contract. Miller was originally selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the fourth round (111th overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, but the club renounced his draft rights after an Arizona Republic investigation revealed how Miller and a classmate bullied and mistreated another classmate, Isaiah Meyer-Crothers.

General manager Don Sweeney gave his reasoning for the signing, despite his misgivings about the move. It points to this decision being guided my team president Cam Neely and perhaps ownership as well. If they were trying to beat others teams to this signing, they should have passed.

The fan backlash has been immense, Patrice Bergeron and Nick Foligno were among the players to openly question the decision, Gary Bettmen isn't sure they'll even allow him to play at the NHL level, and the Bruins didn't speak to the victim's family.

Host Ian McLaren discusses the signing, the aftermath, and offers a personal reflection to end the episode.

The Bruins established a new team record for fewest games to reach 10 wins with Thursday's 5-2 victory over the New York Rangers.

Ian McLaren recaps the game, awards Big Bear honors to Trent Frederic, and talks about why it's ok to be excited about this team.

Yes it's November. Yes we want a Cup. But just enjoy this. The Bruins are fun and good.

Plus, a preview of Saturday's game in Toronto against the Maple Leafs.

The Boston Bruins recalled Keith Kinkaid on Wednesday, a sign that Jeremy Swayman could miss some time after suffering an injury the other night in Pittsburgh.

Derek Forbort has also been placed on IR with what's believed to be a finger injury.

The healthy Bruins are in New York to take on the Rangers tonight, and host Ian McLaren previews what should be a spirited affair.

Plus, it's the weekly Cup check where Ian takes a look at where the Bruins stand in relation to the NHL's top 5 teams.

What. A. Game. And what a great time it is to be a Boston Bruins fan.

Down 5-2 to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday, the Bruins emerged victorious thanks to Hampus Lindholm's overtime winner. Lindholm assisted on all three goals to help lead the comeback, earning Big Bear honors and praise from head coach Jim Montgomery.

Jakub Lauko also scored his first career goal, and you need to hear what he's going to do with the puck.

Jeremy Swayman was injured in this one, though, and the Bruins will likely have to recall a goalie in his absence.

Plus, host Ian McLaren answers a few mailbag questions.

While he's not expected to suit up for a game, he is ahead of schedule in his recovery from offseason shoulder surgery and will be back before November 24th, according to head coach Jim Montgomery.

McAvoy is eligible to come off LTRI as early as Saturday.

The Boston Bruins capped a successful October behind a 30-save shutout from Linus Ullmark and goals from Matt Grzelcyk, Charlie Coyle, Jake DeBrusk, and David Pastrnak en route to a 4-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The win was the Bruins' fifth straight and with a record of 8-1-0, it's the best nine-game start in team history.

Charlie Coyle, Friday's Big Bear of the Night, said it's only the beginning: "We're never satisfied. This doesn't get us in the playoffs, this doesn't give us a championship."

Host Ian McLaren discusses the great start, what's behind it, and what's up next to begin November.

Plus, updates on Brad Marchand, Charlie McAvoy, and David Krejci.

Thursday was a wild one for the Boston Bruins.

For starters, Brad Marchand was cleared to play against the Detroit Red Wings, and he proceeded to score two goal and add an assist in the 5-1-0. The Bruins improved to 7-1-0 behind a strong performance from Jeremy Swayman, while fan favorite Derek Forbort earned Big Bear of the night honors.

Unfortunately, David Krejci left the game with an upper-body injury and did not return. He was ruled out of tonight's game against the Columbue Blue Jackets, which Ian McLaren previews to end the podcast.

Finally, Jack Studnicka was traded to the Vancouver Canucks for goaltender Michael DiPietro and defenseman Jonathan Myrenberg. DiPietro had asked for a trade this past summer and was once considered a high end prospect in net, while Myrenberg was Vancouver's top rated right hand shot D prospect.

The Boston Bruins are off to their best start in over 50 years, improving to 6-1-0 after a win over the Dallas Stars.

The offense wasn't quite clicking despite goals from Taylor Hall, David Pastrnak, and Patrice Begreron, and head coach Jim Montgomery credited the defense and Linus Ullmark for locking things down.

Connor Clifton lowered the boom on Roope Hintz and fought Colin Miller to earn Big Bear honors.

Brandon Carlo made his return from a concussion, resulting in Jakub Lauko being sent down to the AHL. What will the next big roster move be with Brad Marchand and Charlie McAvoy set to return in about a month.

Plus, what's on deck for the Bruins this week? 2 more winnable games.
