The Boston Bruins blew a third-period lead in Game 7 against the Florida Panthers and saw their historically great season cut short by Carter Verhaeghe's overtime winner. After the best regular season we've ever seen, just how big of a letdown is this first round exist for the President's Trophy winners? Which players were the biggest disappointments in the series? And what kind of changes can we expect for an aging Bruins roster that has plenty of salary cap maneuvering to pull off this summer. Ian McLaren of Locked On Bruins joins Gil Martin to break it all down.

Epic collapse or that's just playoff hockey?

There's a couple ways you can look at the Boston Bruins losing Game 7 to the Florida Panthers and bowing out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the first round after the best regular season in NHL history.

Ian McLaren is like head coach Jim Montgomery - disappointed and confused.

There's some pretty obvious reasons where things went wrong, though, including bad lineup decisions, costly mistakes, goaltender regression, and quite simply playing afraid to lose and without a killer instinct.

Where does this rank among recent playoff losses? Pretty high, because it could be the end for Patrice Begeron and David Krejci, who fell way short of their intended happy ending.

Fine, maybe this episode's title is overly dramatic, but the Boston Bruins are indeed on the brink of wasting the greatest regular season of all time.

The Bruins failed to close out the Florida Panthers in a wild Game 6, and it's easy to question some decision by head coach Jim Montgomery so far in this series. Should Linus Ullmark still be between the pipes? Why is the Derek Forbort / Connor Clifton pairing a thing? Why is Trent Frederic not playing?

Despite all that, the Bruins still have a chance to advance to the second round. Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci came back for a reason, and they both need to step up and lead this team on Sunday.

It's not over yet, friends. Let's save the angst for whenever and if ever this runs comes to an early end.

Another day, another chance for the Boston Bruins to eliminate the Florida Panthers and move on to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

How will they do it? Host Ian McLaren says it starts with going back to the lines that worked so well through the regular season. That will improve communication and simplify things in a high pressure situation. Plus, start Linus Ullmark and David Pastrnak needs to shoot away while the Bruins made life difficult for Sergei Bobrovsky.

Whether or not Nick Foligno's in the lineup with David Krejci returning, he had some great things to say about staying even keel, which is easier said than done for everyone involved.

Plus a quick note on Boston's cap overage for next season, which will be much easier to swallow if they win.

Excessive line juggling, turnovers, and a lack of finish late in the 3rd period. And that's without even mentioning a glorious opportunity for Brad Marchand right at the buzzer.

Host Ian McLaren discusses whatw ent wrong for the Boston Bruins in a Game 5 loss to the Florida Panthers, who also makes some suggestions for lineup tweaks for Game 6.

There were some positives in this one, but dang it would have been nice to finish the series on home ice.

Patrice Bergeron made his return to practice on Tuesday morning, skating in full with his teammates in preparation for Game 5 against the Florida Panthers.

The Boston Bruins captain hasn't played since leaving the regular-season finale in Montreal on April 13 but is aiming to be back in the lineup on Wednesday night.

Head coach Jim Montgomery was really juggling the lines in practice though, and we could see some interesting line combinations.

Host Ian McLaren previews Game 5, breaks down some key numbers, and also takes another quick look back at Linus Ullmark wanting to take on Matthew Tkachuk.

Boston Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron is set to practice with the team on Tuesday and could be back in the lineup for Game 5 pending clearance from the team's medical staff. David Krejci, however, requires further testing.

The Bruins have a chance to close out the Florida Panthers on Wednesday, and host Ian McLaren ranks them among the other 16 playoff teams based on the opening four games of the postseason.

Spoiler alert: They're still tops.

Ian McLaren discusses how they did it, who stepped up, and how important the trade deadline acquisitions have been for the Bruins so far in the postseason.

Also, they need a bit more from some key guys in order to keep it going.

Plus, full credit to Linus UIlmark for stopping pucks and dropping his blocker and trapper to have a go at Matthew Tkachuk, and the latest on the injured centers.
