Locked On Bruins - Daily Podcast On The Boston Bruins

While there were interchanging parts on the Boston Bruins fourth line this season, the most common trio was Tomas Nosek, Nick Foligno, and AJ Greer.

They all had pretty good seasons, and any team that breaks points and wins records needs production from all corners of the lineup.

Nosek and Foligno are unrestricted free agents, though, and as much as they'd like to be back, the Bruins might need to part ways to save costs with bonus overages for Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci on the books.

Having that continuity and leadership would be nice, though.

We do know Greer will be back and ready to jump in when games matter most after not playing in the postseason.

Jeremy Swayman has established himself as a very good NHL goalie. and will be paid as such on his next contract.

The restricted free agent should command close to what Linus Ullmark is making, raising questions about whether the Boston Bruins can afford to roll with this tandem, or if Ullmark needs to be traded due to the current cap crunch.

Ian McLaren discusses the very real possibility that the goalie hugs are over, and look at potential Ullmark replacements on the free agent market.

It's season in review day for Matt Grzelcyk and Brandon Carlo.

Both of these players are mainstays in the top 4 for the Boston Bruins, interchanging with Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm whole also playing together at times.

Ian McLaren looks at their regular season and playoff performances, and assesses whether they're candidates to be traded.

Grzelcyk is likeliest to go based on his contract status and age, but that would be a tough one to lose.

Taylor Hall is a Boston Bruin ... but for how much longer?

The soon-to-be 32-year-old is coming off the lowest points per game average of his career, but came up big in the playoffs (in games 1-5, at least).

With a looming salary cap crunch, can the Bruins afford his $6-million cap hit? Probably not.

Find out why Taylor Hall is a real candidate to be moved this offseason.

Charlie Coyle stepped up in the absence of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci in the postseason, so much so that head coach Jim Montgomery decided to keep him and Brad Marchand together once the captain was ready to return.

His $5.25M cap hit is a but much for a 31-year-old third line center, but could be great value if he's called upon and able to ride with Marchand for a full season.

A look back at Coyle's season and what's next fir #13 on today's episode of Locked on Boston Bruins.

Charlie McAvoy started his season late due to shoulder surgery, but he came back strong and remains one of the best defensemen in the NHL.

He hit career highs in points and assists per game, and was a massive part of the team's top ranked defense.

His shot and goal totals were down though, and he could use more pop to his offesnive game in order to get back to in the Norris conversation.

One Boston writer suggests packaging McAvoy, Linus Ullmark, and Jake DeBrusk in a deal with Chicago for the #1 overall pick, and host Ian McLaren discusses the merits of such a proposition and the unlikelihood of it becoming reality.

Hampus Lindholm didn't look like himself in the series against the Florida Panthers. Now we know why.

The Boston Bruins defenseman told a Swedish newspaper he was playing with a broken foot, an injury that requires at least 6 weeks of recovery time. Why was he still playing when clearly not healthy and with options in the press box?

Overall, it was a great first full season for Lindholm in Boston, and he feels he's only getting better. Having Lindholm and Charlie McAvoy on the blue line will help keep the Bruins competitive.

Adding Pavel Zacha for Erik Haula was a genius move by Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney.

The 2015 first-round pick set career highs in goals, assists, and points while playing with fellow Czechs David Krejci and David Pastrnak.

His shot volume was down, though, and he doesn't bring as many intangilbes to the table as Haula, not to mention a lack of prowess in the faceoff circle.

Is Zacha ready for a top 6 center role if Krejci and Patrice Bergeron aren't back? Probably, but he'll need a little help fron his friends along the way - but don't we all?

It's David Krejci year in review day on Locked on Boston Bruins.

The veteran forward returned to the Boston Bruins after a season spent in Czechia, and performed better offensively than his career averages.

His line with David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha gave up a lot of shot attempts, but had a healthy goal differential.

The biggest disappointment for Krejci was not being able up suit up for every playoff game, although he sire showed up in Game 7 against the Florida Panthers.

Will he be back? It's very hard to say at this point.

Plus, the Conference Finals are set and there's really no point wondering whether Bruce Cassidy could have helped the Bruins in the playoffs.
