Back in the summer, the Boston Bruins pinpointed potential trouble spots on the schedule, including Tuesday's game against the New York Islanders.

They just came home from a week-long, Western road swing, and Jim Montgomery and Don Sweeney saw this one as a "penciled in loss."

These Bruins hit different, though, and Jake DeBrusk, Pavel Zacha, Derek Forbort and Linus Ullmark were instrumental in gaining 2 points in a shootout win.

Plus, congrats to Alexander Ovechkin on 800 goals, and just say no to Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.

Ian McLaren previews this one and offers up some Islanders to keep an eye on.

Plus, the Bruins remain in the top spot in the Atlantic while being chased by the surging Toronto Maple Leafs.

Meanwhile, the Ottawa Senators are heating up, the Florida Panthers are floundering, and the Montreal Canadiens are in wild card contention.

Less than a week after dropping a shootout decision to the Vegas Golden Knights in Boston, the Bruins beat Bruce Cassidy's new club in their home rink.

Jake DeBrusk scored the game winner and was engaged at both ends of the ice in the kind of effort his old coach demanded, and Pavel Zacha filled in admirably as second line center in David Krejci's absence with a lower-body injury.

Linus Ullmark shook off a first shot goal by stoning Vegas the rest of the way, and deserves to have his Vezina Trophy tires pumped.

Plus, Kevin Bieksa bites back at Zdeno Chara's claims the 2011 Vancouver Canucks celebrated too early.

The Boston Bruins dropped a 4-3 decision to the lowly Arizona Coyotes on Friday night.

Yes, that should have been an icing near the end of the third period instead of a live puck that found its way onto Lawson Crouse's stick and past Jeremy Swayman.

But, the Bruins did eveything they could to win this one, and fell prey to a game stealing performance from Karel Vejmelka.

They'll need to move on from this one quickly with a game in Vegas on deck.

The Boston Bruins are in Tempe to take on the Arizona Coyotes in the 5,000 seat Mullett Arena.

It'll be only the 5th home game for the Coyotes who are fresh off a franchise-record 14-game road trip.

Ian McLaren previews the game and warns it's one that goaltender Karel Vajmelka could very well steal.

Plus, Zdeno Chara exposes the 2011 Vancouver Canucks and reveals how they motivated the Bruins with some early celebration planning.

The recently formed third line of Taylor Hall, Charlie Coyle, and Trent Frederic combined for 7 points in a win over the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday.

Hall in particular is thriving in the role, and he and Coyle are helping young Freddy gain confidence and play some of thet best hockey of his career.

It's the kind of depth trip that wins Cups, to be honest.

Linus Ullmark also improved on his league-leading numbers with the shutout.

Plus, it's time for a weekly Cup check, where te Bruins and New Jersey Devils are the top teams in the NHL by all measures.

Bruce Cassidy made an emotional return to TD Garden and left victorious after his Vegas Golden Knights beat the Boston Bruins in a shootout.

The Bruins came out flat and allowed Vegas to mount a three goal lead. Despite an exciting comeback, the Bruins couldn't score in OT or in the game deciding skills competition.

Ian McLaren discusses the Bruins resilience and what they learned from the experience, while Cassidy's got some debts to play to his players.

Plus, updated Atlantic Division power rankings and a look at the Eastern Conference playoff picture.
