Locked On Canucks - Daily Podcast On The Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks need to start over.

And thankfully, it sounds like they will leave no stone unturned. But is that actually the case?

Jim Rutherford talked to The Province's Patrick Johnston about the Vancouver Canucks rebuilding mission, who's on the block, and how many pieces may go.

Could that include the Canucks' best trade chip? No, we're not talking about Elias Pettersson.

It's a perfect storm for the Vancouver Canucks.

They keep losing, Elias Pettersson keeps scoring. And now, the team is reportedly willing to trade him.

Beggsy gets into the report that the Canucks are willing to trade Elias Pettersson. What could his value actually be, and does it matter?

He also dives into the Canucks latest loss, details of a failed Kiefer Sherwood offer, and more.

It was a fitting result for the Vancouver Canucks.

A Vancouver Canucks team that has been perpetually bad was just throttled by a Montreal Canadiens squad who has aced their rebuild.

But, at least one good thing did happen for the Canucks.

Beggsy breaks down the Buium decision, Thatcher Demko and Kiefer Sherwood's status amidst a Black Monday for the Vancouver Canucks.

Oh, so that's what they meant by rebuild.

Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford both provide some clarity on what they meant by "hybrid retool." Sort of.

Also, Prime Monday Night Hockey analyst and former NHLer Thomas Hickey joins the show to preview Canucks vs. Habs, give some advice to the Canucks young defencemen and touch on locker room dynamics, specifically how it relates to the Vancouver Canucks. Kyle's dropping a children's book: https://idyllic-lab-88432.myflodesk.com/wzjlsoubj7 Trevor wants to help you plan and grow your wealth: https://www.vallorawealth.com/ Join Kyle's Discord: https://discord.gg/am9vJJPqej Everydayer Club

One of the NHL's most surprising teams this season could be getting in on Vancouver Canucks' Kiefer Sherwood.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that the San Jose Sharks have kicked tires on acquiring Sherwood. What could they give up to get him?

Also, did the Vancouver Canucks ACTUALLY call the Edmonton Oilers and ask for a return on Evander Kane?

Finally, Beggsy dives into Elias Pettersson vs. Auston Matthews ahead of the Canucks game against the Leafs this weekend.

Kyle Bhawan said it best: There's a lot of cheque-collecting hockey going on with the Vancouver Canucks.

So, who are the biggest culprits in terms of being too happy just to go home with a payday and a loss?

It's a fair question to ask after the Vancouver Canucks lost 5-1 to the Detroit Red Wings.

Beggsy breaks that down, along with the Filip Hronek blunder, a big win for Kalamazoo and the Vancouver Canucks trio that finally made an appearance together.

There haven't been many victories for the Vancouver Canucks in the 2025-26 season.

Heck, it didn't look like they would snag a win during the 2023 draft.

The Vancouver Canucks passed on local kid Zach Benson with the 11th overall pick in 2023 in favour of Swedish defenceman Tom Willander. While Willander had a marginalized role in the NCAA, Benson proceeded to crack the Buffalo Sabres line-up as an 18-year-old.

On this episode of Locked On Canucks, Beggsy breaks down Willander's surprising rookie campaign while looking at the players they passed on in favour of Willander. He also breaks down Foote's advice to Pettersson, why Sherwood hasn't been traded, a potential Pettersson to Red Wings package and more.

Elias Pettersson has had a "bounce-back" season for the Vancouver Canucks. It's just not near the level anyone expected.

Drastic change is already underway in Vancouver, but more is needed. No more hybrid retool, the fans in Vancouver deserve better.

While Pettersson has played better, it's pretty clear that he's not going to help the Canucks win a Stanley Cup. If that's the case, they should trade him, and trade him while he's still good.

Among teams that could use him, one of the Canucks upcoming opponents, the Detroit Red Wings, makes sense.

Beggsy dives into the possibility of a trade between the Canucks and Red Wings. He also takes a closer look at Pettersson's game this season, while shouting out a 2026 Olympian for the Cam Neely Former Canuck of the Week segment.

The two most cursed franchises in NHL history are about to battle each other.

But, the expension cousins are heading in opposite directions.

While the moribund Buffalo Sabres look finally poised to end their crazy playoff drought, the Vancouver Canucks look like they could be out of the dance for a while.

The Canucks status as the new Sabres looks even more apparent after the team reportedly offered Kiefer Sherwood a very fair contract extension.

Beggsy and Bhawan dive into the Buffalo Sabres, the Sherwood offer, Filip Chytil's snub, and cousin swapping on the latest episode of Locked On Canucks.

The Vancouver Canucks are the New Buffalo Sabres.

And Kyle's dog passed away 7 days ago.

You can say Trevor hasn't been the best of a friend these days I mean you can say the team in Vancouver absolutely sucks and wants to keep their UFA's.

What?

Yup, Kiefer Sherwood just got a bigger contract offer from the Vancouver Canucks.....

Let's chat about it.
