The Washington Capitals had a tough 2023-24 season after their 2018 Stanley Cup win. Despite efforts from veteran players like Ovechkin, Oshie, and Carlson, the team couldn't progress beyond the first playoff round and was swept by the New York Rangers. Younger players like McMichael, Sandin, and Fehevary made significant contributions. The team focused on acquiring new players through trades and free agency. The addition of younger talent has shifted the team's age composition. Later Dan looks back on Carl Hagelin and his retirement due to a severe eye injury, expressing gratitude for his career and sharing future plans.
