Locked On Celtics - Daily Podcast On The Boston Celtics

For the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls, Jimmy Butler rumors have floated around since the trade deadline, and were renewed recently before the draft.

The #LockedOnCeltics #RaininJs welcomed Sean Highkin, who covers the Bulls for Bleacher Report and co-hosts the Locked on Bulls podcast, to talk all about the persistent Butler chats.

So... that happened.

Yes, it was underwhelming, especially after ALLLLL those rumors leading up to the draft. But how bad was it really? The #RaininJs John and Jay take a deep breath and look at what really happened last night for the Celtics.

It was our first show as a new member of the Locked On Podcast Network! We're excited to be part of an awesome lineup of NBA podcasts.

It's our last pre-draft show and we're narrowing our choices for the third pick down just like the Celtics are. What's our dream scenario? Who do we wish would drop to 16? And what if we could package some picks and get into the top 10 a second time? All that plus some NBA Finals talk and whether anything really impacts LeBron's legacy at this point.

And remember, we're offering Kevin O'Connor's amazing NBA draft guide to our listeners at 10% off with the discount code "RAIN" at gum.co/RedsArmy. Get Kevin's full draft guide. It's freshly updated to give you EVERYTHING you need to know for Thursday's draft.

The Celtics are working out every basketball player under the sun to figure out who to draft, and no one can come to a consensus on who that third pick will be. We discuss that, whether the team should draft based on need vs. best player available, and we figure out the one question we'd ask a player if we were evaluating him.

Plus, should the Celtics pursue Kevin Love, could Isaiah Thomas get invited to Team USA, and what would it take to recruit a guy like Kevin Durant?

We also re-draft the draft that hasn't happened to figure out which players might ACTUALLY become the three best players from this draft.

As a bonus, we're offering Kevin O'Connor's amazing NBA draft guide to our listeners at 10% off with the discount code "RAIN" at gum.co/RedsArmy. So the Celtics are picking 3rd... that's not a bad thing. John and Jay go through what the Celtics can do with that third pick, basically running through every scenario they, and you (through Twitter) could think of. Trade? Make the pick? Something else? We're looking at every scenario.

Instead of previewing a Game 7 against the Hawks, John and Jay are reviewing the Boston Celtics 2015-2016 season. Was it a success? And what happens now? Who should stay? Who should go? Who would we give up in a trade?

There's a lot to get to, and we talk about it all here for the next hour.

Well, we've been here before... the Celtics are coming out of a shellacking in Atlanta and coming home to Boston and that crazy Garden crowd. What do they need to do to win Game 6? What can they do to get Isaiah Thomas free? Can Kelly Olynyk or Jae Crowder show up to save the day?

All that, some Coach of the Year discussion, and emoji tattoos... Enjoy the show! #Celtics #BostonCeltics #RaininJs

When things get weird, the Celtics get good, and the Celtics got good at the right time in Game 4... which means they now basically have a best of 3 series against the Hawks.

Can they win one on the road? Will Marcus Smart continue any level of what he showed late Friday? And how do the Celtics guard Paul Millsap?

John and Jay dive into all the performances good and bad from Game 4 to see if it will lead to a Game 5 win.

Oh my how things have changed since the Celtics returned to Boston. Brad Stevens is a genius again, Isaiah Thomas is awesome again, and Marcus Smart is Marcus Smarting all over the place (that involves a lot, and Jay loves it all).

So the Celtics now have an opportunity to send things back to Atlanta tied at 2... and we wonder how much of Game 3's success is sustainable, what might we need to worry about, and just what happened that might change the entire course of this series.
