The Pac-12's first full weekend of football games in 2022 features some games that are must-see and a few others that are likely to be over by halftime. With non-conference opportunities to strengthen the league's brand on a national level, the conference is counting on teams like Utah, Oregon St, and perhaps even Arizona or Oregon to pull off marquee wins.

On today's episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by JT Wistrcill, host of Locked On Utes. Everyone in the country is excited to see Utah matchup with Florida, a game that should have fans of EVERY Pac-12 school rooting for the Utes. JT also shares which other game across the conference he's most excited to see, and why Oregon is in a similar position @ Georgia as Utah was in last season's Rose Bowl Game against Ohio St.

They conclude with the first edition of 'Pac-12 Prime Picks' to choose the most enticing gambling lines in the conference of champions. Betting Colorado at +13.5 is betting against the public, which historically is not a bad place to be in after they moved the line out 5 full points. Utah (-3) is Spencer's favorite bet of the weekend @ Florida, and Arizona may surprise some but could very well struggle to cover @ San Diego St as a 6-point underdog.

The first Pac-12 football games of the 2022 season will come at the end of this week, with Arizona State kicking things off against Northern Arizona on Thursday. Despite a tumultuous offseason that saw 16 players transfer away from the Sun Devils' program, ASU could still have some upside with Emory Jones at QB this year. Still, they remain arguably the biggest question mark in the Pac-12 heading into this season and have plenty to watch for against an FCS opponent on Thursday.

With three guys seemingly in the running to be the starter, Washington Football has announced that Indiana transfer Michael Penix Jr. will be the starter for the Huskies in 2022 under first-year HC Kalen DeBoer. Penix beat out Dylan Morris and former 5-star QB Sam Huard to get the starting nod up in Seattle. Does this change anything for Washington and how much success they could have this year as DeBoer and co. try to turn the program around?

The Cal Bears Football team got off to a horrid start in 2021, losing a home game to Nevada en route to a 1-5 beginning to the year. After closing strong going 4-2 down the stretch, the Bears came up 1 win short of reaching bowl eligibility. Bears fans are hoping the end of the season translates into 2022, but their hopes may very well not come to fruition.

On today's episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin breaks down the schedule and predicts the 2022 record for the Cal Bears. The early part of their schedule could yield some wins with home games against opponents who aren't exactly Alabama, but after that the struggles could start to snowball. The biggest question once again under Justin Wilcox will be the offense and whether or not they can muster up enough points for their defense--which has kept them in games year in and year out.

A win @ Notre Dame is unlikely to be in the cards, and some tough conference road games also present challenges for the Bears this year. Should the Bears struggle again in 2022, which Pac-12 schools could stumble against Cal because of their stout defense?

Stanford Football has been, surprisingly, trending down under head coach David Shaw for the last couple of (full) seasons in the Pac-12. After being a model of consistency for about a decade, the Cardinal now find themselves attempting to rebuild themselves back into a winner in the conference of champions. Plus, David Shaw may be coaching in 2022 to keep himself off the hot seat or worse if Stanford finds themselves well under .500 once again.

On today's episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin goes through the 2022 schedule for the Stanford Cardinal. After an easy opening game, conference play begins in week 2 when the Cardinal welcome USC to Palo Alto. Although that's not likely to be a win, having a quality opponent at home is a fortunate theme for the Cardinal in 2022 that should allow them to regain their footing and be, at least, a .500 football team.

The Cardinal's other home games include Washington State, Arizona State, Oregon State, and BYU. Any one of those opponents would be tough games for Stanford to win this year if they were played on the road, but playing them inside Stanford Stadium is a big advantage for David Shaw's team. Between Notre Dame and BYU, the Cardinal have a tough slate of non-conference opponents--a win against one of them is not likely, while the other could be one of their best wins of the year.
