Houston Cougars look to break scoring barriers as Boogie Johnson returns amid sky-high expectations. Can Willie Fritz’s squad finally surpass the 40-point mark and clean up costly penalties before a critical Big 12 clash with Texas Tech?

Parker Ainsworth previews Houston’s massive showdown against Southern, spotlighting Stephon "Boogie" Johnson’s anticipated comeback, the likely debut of 5-star quarterback Kesean Henderson, and key roster questions at right tackle. Insights include the Cougars’ focus on reducing pre-snap penalties, milestone watch for running back Makhi Hughes, and the challenge of facing a Southern squad led by Marshall Faulk and featuring a go-go offense. Discussion covers how the Cougars’ depth could shine, snap count strategies to preserve top players, and which young contributors might steal the show during crunch time. Will Houston use this matchup to sharpen execution and dominate on both sides of the ball before their season-defining test in Lubbock?
