Locked On Dodgers – Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Dodgers

Dodgers win 11-2 to extend their winning streak to 3 in a row. Rookie Landon Knack gets his first win going 6 striking out 5. 4 hits for Mookie Betts and Will Smith. Shohei Ohtani had 3 doubles, improving his league leading avg to .371 and Gavin Lux had a clutch 2 out 2 rbi single in the 5th to ice the win.

Dodgers sweep the Nationals in DC 2-1 the final. Yamamoto with a solid outing for the win going 6 scoreless striking out 7. Mookie Betts with another 2 hits to take over the league lead in batting avg at.374, Shohei Ohtani falls to 3rd with an 0-4 day. Teoscar Hernandez got the scoring started with his 6th HR and Freddie Freeman knocked in the game winner in the 8th with a double scoring Mookie Betts.

The Los Angeles Dodgers offense broke out and scored 11 runs on 20 hits in a rout of the Nationals. Shohei Ohtani hit three doubles and leads the league, and the offense hit 17 (!!) baseball with an exit velocity over 100 MPH. That was fun. Gavin Lux added two hits and two RBI, and it comes after a report that the Dodgers are giving him about 150 at-bats to get comfortable. Is that too many or is that a good amount to see what he can contribute? Lastly, Landon Knack got his first career win. Does he deserve another start?

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Washington Nationals, 4-1, on Tuesday, in a game highlighted by RBI hits from Kiké Hernandez, James Outman, and Miguel Rojas along with the most impressive home run Shohei Ohtani has hit in his time in LA. James Paxton and Evan Phillips both worked around a lot of traffic, and the other three LA pitchers did great, allowing the Dodgers to start their road trip with a win. Plenty to talk about in this episode!

Do the Dodgers have a need at middle infield and in the lineup? Luis Arraez and Willy Adames have been mentioned by some fans as targets for the Dodgers. Is it too early to give up on Gavin Lux? Also, Shohei Ohtani is third in the NL in WAR. Does that surprise you? Ohtani's season has been solid but maybe not appreciated yet. Lastly, it's been about a month since the season started for the Dodgers. Are there any surprises in the NL West or the league as a whole?

The Dodgers lost the series to the Mets over the weekend but at least they got a blowout win on Sunday. Shohei Ohtani passed Hideki Matsui for most home runs by a Japanese-born player in MLB, and maybe revealed that he had been pressing a bit to get that home run. He can now focus on being his best for the Dodgers. Tyler Glasnow shoved on Sunday, going eight shutout innings with 10 strikeouts. More starting pitching like that can go a long way to helping this team in a variety of ways. Lastly, the offense has been bad with runners in scoring position, specifically when it comes to making contact. Can that change?

Dodgers again fall behind early but Freddie Freeman found his stroke with an rbi single to tie the game,  Freeman has another clutch hit with a 2 rbi single to draw the Dodgers within 1 but that would be as close as the got as they were an anemic 1-8 with the bases loaded striking out 6 times.

Yamamoto was shaky out of the gate giving 4 runs over the first 3 innings. He did settle in and strike out 9. The Dodgers would rally to tie the game on a Chris Taylor 3 rbi single snapping a 0-30 streak. But the bullpen faltered down the stretch giving up 5 runs over the last 3 innings. Dodgers have dropped 6 of 8 after the 9-4 loss.

Are you more optimistic or more pessimistic about the 2024 Dodgers after the first few weeks of games? There's reasons for both sides of the coin, and Jeff and Vince go through their reasons of why they feel a certain way. Starting pitching, bullpen, the lineup and more are all reasons for some optimism and pessimism. Where do you stand?
