Locked On Falcons - Daily Podcast On The Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta Falcons send a clear signal about their quarterback vision with the 2026 NFL Draft selection of wide receiver Zachariah Branch. Does this pick favor a Tua Tagovailoa-style offense over Michael Penix’s deep-ball attack? Aaron Freeman breaks down how Branch’s body-catching tendencies and reliance on QB accuracy could define Atlanta’s offensive identity, comparing him to Drake London’s “scheme-proof” versatility.

Explore Branch’s developmental journey at USC and Georgia, questions about his true potential beyond gadget plays, and why QB choice will make or break this investment. Special guest Marc Kulkin (Locked On USC) provides insider perspective on Branch’s meteoric rise and second-year struggles at USC, along with candid insight into his transfer and NFL outlook. Will the Falcons maximize Zachariah Branch’s explosive talent—or risk wasting a valuable pick if their QB situation falters?

The episode touches on the unique roles for dynamic stars like Robinson, the offensive line’s athleticism, and the ripple effect on QB competition between Tagovailoa and Michael Penix.

Atlanta Falcons’ WR2 battle heats up: Will Jahan Dotson secure the spot, or is Zachariah Branch poised for a breakout? With Drake London cemented as WR1, hot topics include Dotson’s contract expectations, Branch’s dynamic special teams potential, and whether Atlanta’s young receivers can silence calls for a veteran addition like Stefon Diggs or Deebo Samuel. Is patience the answer, or will preseason performances force the Falcons into a bold move?

Aaron Freeman and Jarvis Davis (Locked On Georgia Tech) examine Maason Smith’s place in Nate Ollie’s attacking front, question Jawaan Taylor’s reliability at right tackle, and speculate on the team’s long-term plans for the offensive line. With the shadow of past picks like Ruke Orhorhoro and Kaleb McGary looming, the conversation asks: Should the Falcons prioritize tackle in the 2027 NFL Draft regardless of 2026 outcomes?

Atlanta Falcons face pivotal questions as Kevin Stefanski takes the helm—will this new regime unlock the full potential of offensive stars like Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and $18-million-per-year tight end Kyle Pitts? Aaron Freeman, Tenitra Batiste, and Jarvis Davis examine whether the revamped offensive line, the addition of Jahan Dotson, and the play-calling acumen of Tommy Rees will finally ignite an Atlanta attack worthy of playoff expectations.

The squad debates breakout candidates on both sides of the ball, including optimism around Zachariah Branch’s electrifying speed and Jalon Walker’s pass-rush upside. Key topics include the impact of Pitts’ early extension, the Robinson brothers’ backfield dynamics, and how the new coaching staff will handle pressure after years of lackluster play calling. Will the Falcons’ offense recapture the explosive identity that once powered a Super Bowl run, or will lingering concerns define another season in Atlanta?

Atlanta Falcons search for a big nickel solution as linebacker Kendal Daniels emerges as a potential answer to their heavy personnel woes. Can the rookie’s size and physicality help the Falcons overcome their 2025 struggles against multi-tight end sets, or will alternative options like Sydney Brown step up first?

Aaron Freeman breaks down the implications of slotting Avieon Terrell at nickel cornerback, raising concerns about leaving Mike Hughes exposed at outside corner. With A.J. Terrell and C.J. Henderson as the only true “big” cornerbacks on the roster, the Falcons face looming size mismatches versus physical wide receivers like Mike Evans and Tetairoa McMillan. Key discussion points include coaching staff confidence in Hughes, roster construction questions, and why determining Terrell’s long-term position could shape Atlanta’s defensive future. Are the Falcons prepared for the NFL’s new offensive meta?

Atlanta Falcons shake up the secondary as Avieon Terrell steps in with All-Pro potential and game-changing versatility. Can the rookie cornerback solidify the team’s long-standing CB2 problem and surpass Mike Hughes as the go-to option opposite his brother, A.J. Terrell?

Aaron Freeman breaks down Avieon’s strengths in inside-outside coverage, his knack for forced fumbles at Clemson, and the unique challenges his tackling brings in run support. The discussion covers Terrell's ideal NFL role, press-man coverage limitations, and why his skill set fits the evolving demands of nickel packages. Player comps to Devon Witherspoon, Trent McDuffie, Byron Murphy Jr., and Amik Robertson highlight Terrell’s possible floor and ceiling, while coverage stats and scheme fit hint at his future impact on the Falcons’ defense. How will Terrell’s development reshape Atlanta’s secondary—and is All-Pro status truly within reach?

Quarterback uncertainty clouds the NFC South, not just for the Atlanta Falcons and Michael Penix. Bryce Young’s future with the Carolina Panthers remains an open audition, while the New Orleans Saints put everything in place for Tyler Shough’s critical evaluation year after reshaping their offensive roster. Can either young QB seize long-term control, or will 2026 bring more shakeups?

Host Aaron Freeman is joined by guests Julian Council (Locked On Panthers) and Ross Jackson (Locked On Saints) to debate if the Panthers’ big-money moves for Jaelan Phillips and Devin Lloyd finally restore Carolina’s defense and assess whether Dave Canales’ job is truly safe. The Saints’ transition out of the Sean Payton era, Kellen Moore’s new direction, and Brandon Staley’s defensive turnaround raise questions—did New Orleans simply beat up on weak offenses, or is a legitimate top-10 defense taking shape? Get the pulse on every major storyline as the Falcons’ rivals gear up for a pivotal season.

Atlanta Falcons lock in their top skill players with massive contracts for Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and an expected future extension for Bijan Robinson, signaling a clear direction for the franchise’s offensive core. Are these moves a sign that the Falcons are set to build around a quarterback on a rookie deal like Michael Penix, or will a potential Tua Tagovailoa breakout force the front office into even bigger spending?

Aaron Freeman and Jarvis Davis (Locked On Georgia Tech) weigh the cap-strapped team-building strategy, debate the sustainability of an expensive offense versus a defense loaded with young, affordable talent, and question whether Kevin Stefanski’s new offensive coaching staff can finally unlock this group’s potential. With the pressure mounting and job security on the line, can the Falcons maximize their window, or is another underwhelming season on the horizon?

Atlanta Falcons lock in Kyle Pitts with a surprising three-year, $54 million deal—did the front office gamble too soon on untapped potential? The show debates whether Pitts’ inconsistent production and recent injuries justify the massive contract and explores what this move signals about general manager Ian Cunningham’s philosophy. Is Atlanta banking on a breakout season, or reacting out of fear as the tight end market is set to rise?

The conversation also highlights the crowded linebacker room, with eyes on rookies like Kendall Daniels and Harold Perkins to see if they’ll earn significant snaps. The squad breaks down the NFC South’s bottom-ranked quarterback landscape and what Michael Penix Jr. or Tua Tagovailoa must do to change the Falcons’ fortunes. With Kevin Stefanski’s penchant for tight ends, could Atlanta’s offense finally reach its true ceiling? This deep dive into roster strategy and future expectations sets the stage for a pivotal Falcons season.
