Over the last week, the Miami Heat have seemingly forgotten how to close out a basketball game.

Tonight at Kaseya Center  in Miami, the Heat let the Chicago Bulls come back from a 17-point deficit to beat them 114-109, a loss that puts them 5 games under .500 for the 1st time this year, in 8th place in the Eastern Conference.

Josh Giddey scored 26 points to lead the Bulls, including the dagger 3-pointer to put the game in ice and hand the Heat their 4th loss in 5 games. The Heat were winning all 5 in the 4th quarter.

Cody White scored 5 huge points down the stretch- 21 for the game- and Zach Collins gave them 18 points and 15 rebounds.

Chicago took the lead for good when White’s three-point play with 1:25 remaining made it 110-109. Giddey’s 3-pointer with 17 seconds left padded the lead.

The Heat built a 51-35 advantage early in the second quarter but allowed the Bulls to stay within distance after they scored four points in the final 7:13 of the period.

Bam Adebayo finished his red-hot week with 22 points. Andrew Wiggins also scored 22 for Miami, coming back after missing the last 5 games with a sprained right ankle..

Tyler Herro added 21 for the Heat.

It was the 16th time Miami blew a double-digit lead this season, and went on to lose the game.

White shot 6 for 16 from the field and 0 for 8 from 3-point range after his career-high 44 points in Orlando.

Miami has now lost back-to-back games 6 times this season.

An 11-0 surge gave Chicago its first lead since the first quarter about midway through the 4th quarter, and White and Giddey closed it out from there.

The Bulls made 23-of-26 free throws. White finished 9 of 9 from the line.

The Heat resume their five-game homestand against the Charlotte Hornets on Monday, with tip set for 8pm ET.

Bam Adebayo missed what would have been a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, and the Heat went scoreless on 4 straight late possessions in a gut-wrenching 106-104 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
 

The loss was the 3rd in 4 games when the Heat had the lead in the 4th quarter against 3 of the NBA’s best teams- the Knicks, Cavs and Wolves. Miami is now 4 games under .509 for the 3rd time this season.
 

The Heat went on a 20-7 run to close the first half, then later ripped off a 19-4 run in just over 3:00 of the 3rd quarter, at one scoring 8 points in just :49 of action. But they weren’t able to do it late when they needed it to close the game.
 

Bam led Miami with 29 points and 13 rebounds, as he continues playing his best hoops of the season.
 

Tyler Herro- back from a brief illness that kept him out Wednesday at Cleveland- added 22 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds.
 

Duncan Robinson scored 15 in his 6th straight game scoring in double-figures- all off the bench.
 

Both Herro and Robinson missed wide-open 3’s in the final 2:30.
 

Minnesota shot 46% from 3, and had 8 players scored in double-figures on night when the Heat held their superstar Anthony Edwards to just 13 points, more than 14 points lower than his average.

The Heat came back from a double-digit deficit to take the lead in the 4th quarter, but the East-leading Cleveland Cavaliers clamped down on defense late to win 112-107.
 

Bam Adebayo played his best and most inspired game of the season for Miami, scoring 34 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists.
 

But it wasn’t enough for the Heat, who were missing 5 key players including leading scorer Tyler Herro.
 

Miami led 107-106 with 2:55 left. They wouldn’t score again.
 

Duncan Robinson’s would-be game-tying 3-pointer with :17 left was waved off because he stepped out of bounds after catching the perfect cross court inbounds pass from .
 

The Heat had no timeouts left after calling their last one on the inbounds play just before Duncan’s shot, so they couldn’t challenge the call.
 

Donovan Mitchell cored 26 points, and Darius Garland dished out 10 assists for the Cavs, who won for the 12th straight game. They are the first NBA team to clinch a playoff berth.
 

Evan Mobley and De’Andre Hunter added 16 points apiece for the Cavs.
 

Besides Herro, (illness) the Heat were already playing without Jaime Jaquez Jr (sprained ankle), Nikola Jovic (broken hand), Kel’el Ware (sprained knee) and Andrew Wiggins (sprained ankle) before Herro came down with a head cold in the past 24 hours.
 

In his first game back in Cleveland since signing with the Heat two years ago, Kevin Love got a standing ovation from the Cavs fans. Love won an NBA title in 2016 with the Cavs.
 

The Heat host Minnesota on Friday, the first of five straight home games.
