New York Islanders captain Anders Lee was second on the team with 28 goals last season, but he slumped down the stretch and is now 33 years old. Plus, why it makes sense (kind of) for Lou Lamoriello to build the Isles around defense and goaltending this year at least for now.

And some news on Zach Parise and his possible future with the team.

While the New York Islanders have re-signed their own free agents, the division rival Pittsburgh Penguins pulled off a blockbuster deal for Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson. We discuss how this deal changes the Isles playoff expectations this year and why it upset some Isles fans for several different reasons.

Plus, is there room for an enforcer like Ross Johnston on the Isles this season? We discuss the on-ice and salary cap implications of Johnston's situation and what the team should do about him this year.

And a big message from me to you as the show returns to the air.

Today we analyze another way the New York Islanders could improve offensively this season even if they don't add a scoring winger. If Kyle Palmieri can stay healthy, he could add 8-10 goals to the lineup on his own and give the team a boost on the power play as well. Unfortunately, staying healthy has not been easy for Palms.

We also break down the third line and who fills in there if Zach Parise does retire. There are many possible candidates including Pierre Engvall, Oliver Wahlstrom, Hudson Fasching and Julien Gauthier. We break down the reasons each player could fit there.

And the Isles once again get little respect from the national media although this time I don't think they're off by much.

Plus, five Isles prospects prepare to play in the World Junior Summer Showcase including Calle Odelius and Danny Nelson. We break down all five players and what to expect from them on today's show.

And somehow, John MacLean is still has a job running the Isles power play despite how badly the team performed last season.
