Locked On Jets - Daily Podcast On The New York Jets

The Jets are on a three game winning streak after defeating the Cleveland Browns yesterday 17-14 in Cleveland. It wasn't exactly the prettiest effort, but it was pretty from the standpoint the Jets ended the game with more points than the opponent. On today's show we discuss what happened.

There is no way around the reality that the Browns, particularly their starting quarterback, did a lot to help the Jets out, but there were positive performances and moments to take from this game. A few plays in particular stood out, and we will discuss them.

The Jets take on the Browns this Sunday in Cleveland. At the start of the season, many viewed this as a game that could help determine the number one overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Through the first quarter of the season, the Browns once again do appear to be contenders for the top pick. The Jets are off to a surprising 2-2 start and look to continue their winning streak.

On today's show we take a look at one player, matchup, and key to victory for the Jets on both sides of the ball. The Browns might be 0-4, but there are certain matchups they might be able to exploit if the Jets do not play up to their potential. We discuss what New York has to do to come out of Cleveland with a road victory.

The dust has settled on the Jets' Week 4 win against the Jaguars. To provide it one last look, Michael of Gang Green Nation joins us.

We debate how well Brian Winters played on Sunday. Michael has a very different take than the one stated on the podcast earlier in the week. We also discuss players like Kony Ealy, Bilal Powell, Elijah McGuire, Muhammad Wilkerson, Jamal Adams, and Josh McCown. How did they play? What does this mean going forward? We discuss.

The Jets are on a two game winning streak. It is still early, but this team so far is greatly exceeding expectations in terms of its win-loss record. Before the season, many people stated that success in 2017 would not be based solely on the standings, however. The people who said that did not think the Jets would be very good, but their words remain true.

Just as it was true when the Jets were losing, it is true when the Jets are winning. Losses don't necessarily mean total failure, but wins do not necessarily mean total success. Sure, wins are better than losses. There is definitely an element of success when the team wins just as there is an element of failure when the team loses. There are other things to evaluate, though.

On today's podcast we evaluate some of these factors. There are some positives and negatives to take. We look at both.

The Jets are 2-2 after beating the Jacksonville Jaguars 23-20 in overtime yesterday at MetLife Stadium. Some people didn't think the Jets would win two games all season. Few would have predicted a .500 start through the first quarter of the season. Even fewer would have guessed that the Jets would be tied with the New England Patriots through the first quarter of the year.

On today's show, we discuss how the Jets beat the Jaguars. We talk about stars of the game and key plays. We talk about the bigger picture implications for Mike Maccagnan and Todd Bowles. We also talk about some of the negatives, namely quarterback play.
