Locked On Kings - Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Kings

On episode 127, host Sarah Avampato is joined by Trey Matthews, host of Locked On Devils, as we throw it back to 2012. Who were the most important players on our teams? Who was the most underrated? Just how good was Jonathan Quick then, anyway? We look at the paths our respective teams took to get all the way to the Stanley Cup Final in part one of our two-part conversation.

The Ontario Reign may not have a new coach yet but their captain is guaranteed to be back for another year, as Brett Sutter has re-signed with the team. In ECHL news, Reign forward Mason Bergh has sighed with the unofficial ECHL affiliate of the Kings, the Fort Wayne Komets. A little closer to home, Kings forward Nikolai Prokhorkin has signed a 2-year contract in the KHL. Plus, a preview of some upcoming content in the works for Locked On Kings.

In episode 125, host Sarah Avampato walks you through all of the important dates in the return to play scenario, which still may or may not happen given that there is, you know, a pandemic. The Kings might not be playing, but we still have the draft to look forward to, with some future draft picks being conditioned on playoff results this year. Plus, the Kings announced their participation in The ALLIANCE: Los Angeles, as well as the creation of The LA Kings Inclusion Initiative, spearheaded by AHL Scout and Growth and Inclusion Specialist Blake Bolden. We take a look at the initiatives and how the Kings are going to be giving back to their community.

In episode 124, Sarah is joined by Locked On Ducks host JD Hernandez for a little Locked On SoCal Hockey. We walk you through the new CBA just accepted by the NHLPA, including some changes that will impact all those California road trips the other teams have to take. Plus, a look at the return to play scenarios, none of which involve our teams having to play hockey in the middle of a pandemic. Finally, after the draft we decided to rank the play-in teams to see who we thought was most deserving of the #1 overall pick. Tune in to hear the results - as well as one unanimous pick from both of us.

In an eye-opening discussion, Ross Jackson (Locked On Saints), Aaron Freeman (Locked On Falcons), Tony Wiggins (Locked On Jaguars), John Hickman (Locked On Texans), Chris Carter (Locked On Steelers), Keith Pompey (Locked On 76ers), Coty Davis (Locked On Texans), and Your Boy Q (Locked On Raiders) come together for a special Locked On Podcast Network Black Lives Matter Roundtable.

These eight Locked On hosts share their first-hand experiences as black men in America. When was the first time they clocked racism in their lives? What are the pet peeves they experience as a black man? In the wake of George Floyd's killing, does this movement feel different than those of the past? What needs to happen for this moment in time to have a lasting impact on society and to result in real gains for social justice? And, will these experiences change the next generation?

We take a momentary pause in our daily sports talk for this revealing and important special podcast episode.
