The New York Mets used a two-run 6th and a two-run 7th to comeback against the Washington Nationals to take the opener of this three game series.
Well, after struggling in the final two games in Atlanta, the Mets started this series off with a win but it required some late magic.
With two outs in the sixth, Francisco Lindor hit a solo homer to get the Mets back tied after an earlier error by the shortstop led to the only run of the game for Washington. Later that inning, Carson Benge extended his on-base streak to 17 games with a go--ahead single.
Jared Young added a no-doubter home run and Bo Bichette tacked on a two-out RBI to give the Mets some insurance.
It was better for Robert Stock, although a high pitch count knocked him out of the game before he could finish the 5th. That was okay however, because four Met relievers combined to keep the Nats scoreless the rest of the game.
POSTCAST host Chris Schubert breaks down the Mets late rally, the bullpen coming through and the continued emergence of Jared Young.

Zac Thornton threw another quality start, but the New York Mets bullpen coughed up some runs late and the 9th inning rally by the bats fell short.
This was the second time Thornton has faced the Atlanta Braves, putting together a quality start on that day as well. Thornton's ERA on the season is just 2.78 through 8 big league starts.
The bats used homers to get themselves back into this game after trailing early. Solo shots from Luis Torrens and Luis Robert Jr. got the Mets back within a run, but that didn't last long.
It was a rough outing for Dedniel Nunez, allowing three runs and just getting one out as the Braves immediately responded to increase their lead.
POSTCAST host Chris Schubert discusses another solid start for Thornton, what Luis Torrens has been doing on this road trip and the woes of a bullpen under construction.

Nolan McLean was great over six innings of one hit ball, but the New York Mets were shutout for the 13th time this season.
The Mets offense has been great over the last week, but when it hasn't it has looked like it did tonight. They've lost just two games since the trade deadline, with both of them being shutouts.
It was a waste of a great McLean outing, who allowed just one run on one hit over six innings of work. Jefry Yan and Chayce McDermott allowed three more runs and walked four over their two innings of work.
POSTCAST host Chris Schubert breaks down the boom and bust nature of this offense, and McLean's outing.
