Locked On Mets - Daily Podcast On The New York Mets

Today is another Friday Farm Report, where Locked On Mets social media coordinator Jordan Grossman joins the show to discuss prospects in the Mets farm system. Before we talk about the prospects, Jordan and host Ryan Finkelstein discuss the Mets search for a new President of Baseball Operations this offseason.

Jordan suggests that maybe the top priority should be Tampa Bay Rays GM Erik Neander rather than Theo Epstein.

On the farm, Jake Mangum has been tearing the cover of the ball as of late and could be knocking on the door in the near future. What do the Mets have in the 25-year-old outfielder?

Mark Vientos is leading the Mets farm system in home runs this season, showcasing incredible power that should have any fan excited about his future with the Mets. How soon can Vientos make it to the big leagues and what position will he play?

The New York Mets only scored two runs in last night's loss last night, but the story of the game ended up being manager Luis Rojas' decision to pull starter Taijuan Walker in favor of Aaron Loup in the seventh inning.

Host Ryan Finkelstein talks about the decision and why people are too focused on the manager and are missing the real problem that is staring us in the face. The Mets can't hit.

Also for Throwback Thursday, Ryan goes back to the most recent playoff berth for the Mets in 2016 and why it should offer a glimmer of hope for fans rooting for this team five years later.

The New York Met and the San Francisco Giants each made a big trade to acquire a star player from the Chicago Cubs at the deadline, but the results have been far different for the two teams.

Host of Locked On Mets Ryan Finkelstein is joined by host of Locked On Giants for a crossover episode to discuss a tale of different seasons for the two National League counterparts.

Javier Báez returned off the IL on Sunday and immediately brought a spark to the lineup, helping propel the New York Mets to their only win of the weekend. Can the return of Báez and Francisco Lindor be enough to push this team back into contention?

With their return, there is going to be less at-bats to go around for incumbent starters like J.D. Davis, Jeff McNeil, Dom Smith and Jonathan Villar. Who should start and who should come off the bench?

Also listen for maybe the most surprising take host Ryan Finkelstein has had on Locked On Mets.

The New York Mets are in the midst of their worst losing streak of season, dropping their fifth-straight game last night. So on today's show we go away from talking about the present-day struggles and instead talk about the tough decisions the Mets have to make in the offseason.

Ethan Connelly joins the show from Spotify Greenroom to talk with host Ryan Finkelstein about which members of the Mets core of position players are worth building around. Is it time to give up on J.D. Davis at third base, or Dominic Smith in left field?

Should Michael Conforto and/or Noah Syndergaard receive the qualifying offer and what else is out there in free agency?

The New York Mets have fallen to .500 for the first time since May 6th after losing their four-straight game last night. Host Ryan Finkelstein recaps the game and talks about how this team has gone from front-runners in the NL East to seeing their playoff hopes dwindling fast.

Also, Mets beat writer Pat Ragazzo joins the show to revisit what the Mets did at the trade deadline. Was it a mistake to trade for Javier Baez or should the Mets have just done more to fortify their roster?

Host Ryan Finkelstein recaps the rough series and talks about the Dodgers change in ownership back in 2012 and how they became the powerhouse in the National League.

Ryan also previews the upcoming series against the San Francisco Giants and discusses how the Mets are at a breaking point with their young core of position players.
