Locked On NFL – Daily Podcast On The National Football League

Every summer we get a ton of NFL rankings and now ESPN's top ten quarterback rankings have dropped with a ton of reaction. The biggest being the reaction to Lamar Jackson coming in at fifth. Jackson is a multi-time MVP and revolutionary player, but it is hard to argue he should be higher with all the inconsistency. The back half of the top ten has some shockers like Dak Prescott in the six hole. Drake Maye and Caleb Williams both get a spot as well although their rankings will be debated for different reasons. Finally, Sam Darnold and Jordan Love appear to be the big names that caused surprise with their absence, but Baker Mayfield also deserves to have his name mentioned.

The hype surrounding Aaron Donald's potential return to the Los Angeles Rams hit a fever pitch this weekend as the NFL legend was spotted at the Rams facility, but the truth is the Rams are the Super Bowl favorite whether Donald returns or not and his return won't be the determining factor in their success. The Seattle Seahawks are the team with the crown currently, but they took that success as a chance to sell the team. Seattle has a lot of questions going into the season after losing quite a bit of talent on the roster and coaching staff after hoisting the trophy. Finally, the San Francisco 49ers have been such a competitive team for so long, but at some point the dam breaks and this Brandon Aiyuk saga just seems like it's a symptom of a bigger issue.

Coaching hot seats are heating up across the NFL, with Mike Vrabel facing intense scrutiny in New England after a Super Bowl run became overshadowed by offseason drama. Will the Patriots’ young roster and media distractions threaten Vrabel’s grip, or can he keep the focus on football and capitalize on the team's loaded potential? The conversation focused on big-market pressure in New York for Aaron Glenn, while Nick Sirianni’s future hangs in the balance in Philadelphia as questions about offensive identity and expectations mount.

A key theme that emerged was the fine line between success and stagnation for coaches like Todd Bowles in Tampa Bay, Kevin O’Connell in Minnesota, and Shane Steichen in Indianapolis. The discussion explored Baker Mayfield’s uncertain future, Sam Darnold’s resurgence with Seattle, and whether Daniel Jones can reclaim his form with the Colts. Are these coaches the right leaders for their franchises, or could a single bad stretch force sweeping changes this season?

The NFL's offseason is coming to a close in a few weeks and that makes it the perfect time to evaluate the few months for every team. It is hard to ignore how fantastic of a stretch the Los Angeles Rams have had after acquiring Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie, but not every team that got a high grade in a recent piece from NFL.com is obvious. The Cleveland Browns, along with other lowly teams, got high grades they are hoping spin into more wins in the near future. Not all the grades were high though as teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks sat at the bottom of the rankings.
