The Cleveland Browns look to be the worst team in the NFL and since their return to the league that is probably more often true than not, but this year they are going to have some challengers. There could be a path to slight improvement for the Browns and the Miami Dolphins have one of the worst rosters we have seen in recent memory. The New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders have big question marks at the quarterback spot, but with veterans and some talented weapons, they may avoid the basement. A team like the Tennessee Titans, Washington Commanders, New York Giants and the entirety of the NFC South are hoping to dig their way out of this group.

The NFL still has major 2002 droughts waiting to be broken. Derrick Brooks, Priest Holmes, and Dexter Jackson were part of award milestones we have not seen since, while the Colts have not had a league receptions leader since Marvin Harrison’s 143-catch season.
Alec Pierce, Travis Kelce, the Jets, and the Raiders all give this episode a modern NFL history test. Can Pierce make a real Colts receptions push? Can Kelce pass Jerry Rice in postseason receiving yards and touchdowns? And which franchise is closer to ending a division-title drought that dates back to 2002?

The Chicago Bears made a big leap forward in 2025, going to the playoffs after winning the NFC North, but some think Chicago is primed for a fall back down to earth and in a competitive division, that could spell a missed postseason. Likewise, the Philadelphia Eagles have high expectations and if things don't go according to plan we could see a big-time blow up with a lot of changing parts. Back in the NFC North, the Green Bay Packers are also hoping for better things this season, but with Micah Parsons out for half the season likely and Matt LaFleur losing some ground in the locker room, it's not impossible to see the Packers miss out on the playoffs. The Detroit Lions are also careening towards a second year of no playoffs. In the AFC, the Jacksonville Jaguars had a bounce back year, but that always creates the potential for regression. Especially after an offseason of perceived hubris from the front office. The Kansas City Chiefs could be getting Patrick Mahomes back sooner than they expected, but even with Mahomes last season, the Chiefs weren't a confirmed postseason entry. Penning them in this year would be a mistake too.

Atlanta Falcons raise eyebrows by re-signing Kyle Pitts and putting faith in Kevin Stefanski, but are they truly breaking old patterns or just repackaging the “same old Falcons”? Tony Wiggins and David Harrison spotlight the team’s identity crisis, critique the trend of hiring coaches to fix old regimes, and question if Atlanta’s quarterback battle signals meaningful change. Aaron Freeman’s sharp analysis challenges whether doing the same thing—just more efficiently—will spark new results in the NFC South.
The conversation moves around the league, dissecting Miami Dolphins’ strategy with Malik Willis, assessing the Carolina Panthers’ “surprise” playoff run, and debating if Dave Canales can sustain momentum. Insightful takes include Todd Monken’s public gratitude for Lamar Jackson, Cleveland Browns’ risky belief in plug-and-play coaching, and the Denver Broncos’ run game overhaul with J.K. Dobbins. Key stats, player comps, and schedule breakdowns keep the NFL hot seat burning.

The Detroit Lions just released Terrion Arnold, their first round cornerback from the 2024 NFL Draft, and it continues a concerning pattern for the NFC fan favorite. After losing their talented coordinators a year ago, Dan Campbell missed the playoffs as the roster got worse. Now, with no significant improvement to coaching or the roster, the Lions may be destined for a massive drop off. The Indianapolis Colts could be a team that experiences a similar upheaval as Shane Steichen and Chris Ballard have to be on watch by new ownership. If the Colts can recapture their early 2025 magic, heads may roll in Indy. The NFC east has a lot of coaches on notice as the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders could all reasonably make change after a bad year. The AFC sports two contenders in the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens that could have a mess on their hands after a subpar 2026.

The Philadelphia Eagles have high expectations going into 2026 and if they do not hit those, there is a high chance of change that could include firing Nick Sirianni as the head coach. Kyle Shanahan may be one of the best coaches in the NFL, but if the San Francisco 49ers underperform, there may be an urge to shake things up and it could leave Shanahan on shaky footing in 2027. In the NFC North, teams also expect a lot this year. The Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions feel like teams that are getting further away though. Matt LaFluer and Dan Campbell could have a hot seat by the end of the year, if not sooner. Finally, the coach with the most tenure in the NFL, Andy Reid with the Kansas City Chiefs, and one of the newest coaches in the league, Todd Monken with the Cleveland Browns, could be staring at a similar fate by the end of the season.
