The Philadelphia Eagles have high expectations going into 2026 and if they do not hit those, there is a high chance of change that could include firing Nick Sirianni as the head coach. Kyle Shanahan may be one of the best coaches in the NFL, but if the San Francisco 49ers underperform, there may be an urge to shake things up and it could leave Shanahan on shaky footing in 2027. In the NFC North, teams also expect a lot this year. The Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions feel like teams that are getting further away though. Matt LaFluer and Dan Campbell could have a hot seat by the end of the year, if not sooner. Finally, the coach with the most tenure in the NFL, Andy Reid with the Kansas City Chiefs, and one of the newest coaches in the league, Todd Monken with the Cleveland Browns, could be staring at a similar fate by the end of the season.

Coaching changes happen every year in the NFL and the coach on the hottest seat in the league right now is Zac Taylor with the Cincinnati Bengals. Taylor got the Bengals to a Super Bowl, but after years of missed playoffs and slow starts, at some point ownership and star quarterback Joe Burrow will require change. Joe Brady could be the victim of a one and done scenario in Buffalo with expectations as high as they are. Aaron Glenn may be the most obvious name, but Glenn has a low bar for improvement and that gives him a better shot of keeping his job. Todd Bowles is another coach who has experienced success, but could be gone in Tampa Bay as a result of the Buccaneers just going in a totally new direction. Finally, two coaches in the NFC East have a target on their backs. Dan Quinn needs to get the Washington Commanders back to the playoffs or he may be replaced by an offensive mind to help Jayden Daniels. Likewise, the Dallas Cowboys could move on from Brian Schottenheimer if they have another disappointing season.

The Detroit Lions are hoping to make a run back to the NFL Playoffs this year, but with roster questions, coaching concerns and now a serious legal issue with Terrion Arnold, the Lions are looking like a team at the end of a run that won't be revived. However, there are many teams in the NFL who missed out on the playoffs last year that look to get back in this season. If not the Lions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have as good of a shot as anyone in the NFC. They will battle in a crowded division, but have the talent to stand out. In the AFC, all eyes will be on the north where last year's champ, the Pittsburgh Steelers, don't inspire a lot of confidence while the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens seem like much more dangerous options. The Kansas City Chiefs could have something to say about the playoffs after missing their first postseason with Patrick Mahomes. Apparently, Mahomes is ahead of schedule in his ACL recovery and that would make the Chiefs as good of an answer as any team when it comes to playoff rebounds.

The NFL dropped the hammer on recently departed collegiate quarterback Brendan Sorsby on Tuesday when they declared they would not have a supplemental draft and allow him to enter the NFL. Sorsby has become a controversial figure and the NFL was wise to make this move. Sorsby now needs to accept his fate and start taking steps to adjust his future. We also saw an extension for Kyle Pitts from the Atlanta Falcons and it is a bit of a shock considering how Pitts' career has gone so far for him and the Falcons. On Thursday, the United States national mens soccer team will play it's next match in the World Cup and makes you wonder what kind of lineup the NFL could put together if it had to. Obviously, the NFL players would not be the quality of our national team, but Lamar Jackson and Ja'Marr Chase sure seem like the kind of guys who could make an impact on offense with Kyle Hamilton and Will Anderson being quite the intimidating defenders.
