The Atlanta Falcons have one of the more interesting quarterback battles in the NFL with Tua Tagovialoa and Michael Penix as contenders. With Penix on the mend, Tua has taken advantage and been impressive early on. Atlanta certainly has the weapons and with James Pearce seemingly in the clear, this team is good enough to make noise in the south. Their division rival, the Carolina Panthers, won the crown last season, but somehow are never discussed as a real team to watch. Repeating would fix that issue quickly. In the AFC South, the Jacksonville Jaguars are defending the title, but after a poorly-received offseason, they aren't getting the respect they deserve. A similar statement could be made for the Indianapolis Colts who were the hottest team in the NFL for the first half of the 2025 schedule. Two historic teams in the NFC seem to be slept on as well with the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys. Talent isn't limited in the Bay Area, but it all depends on health whereas for the Boys, it all comes down to defense.

The New Orleans Saints brought back Cam Jordan for a final season and now he feels like the final piece to the turnaround. A solid roster has the Saints as a real contender in the NFC South and they should be set to win more games this year. To do it, they may have to go through their rival, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs are dealing with some contract issues, but on paper, especially with the addition of Rueben Bain, they should be considered the favorites in the division, who certainly win more games than last season. Two similar teams in different conferences may be set for improvements in the Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals. With both, the offenses are potent, but if the defense doesn't improve, it won't matter. Finally, two teams who share a division with the Cowboys are expected to make jumps too. The New York Giants and Washington Commanders shouldn't have too difficult of a path to improvement in the win column.

The NFL just got one of the most interesting supplemental draft prospects in decades dropped on their proverbial door with quarterback Brendan Sorsby deciding to leave college. Sorsby is an interesting prospect that numerous teams could be interested in, but the Arizona Cardinals or Pittsburgh Steelers should be willing to risk the most. The Kansas City Chiefs have their quarterback under wraps and just gave Patrick Mahomes a new monster contract, but now they might be getting the old band back together with L'Jarius Sneed already signed and Tyreek Hill hinting at a reunion. Neither remove the two biggest worries about the Chiefs, the offensive line and pass rush. Finally, the New Orleans Saints finally brought back Cam Jordan and now have as good of a shot as anyone to win the NFC South.
