The Dallas Cowboys haven't seen the top of the NFL in quite some time and if they are going to get back this year, they need a lot to go right. That doesn't include Dak Prescott dealing with some sort of off-field drama and that is not what Cowboys fans want to hear. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have to deal with Baker Mayfield's contract situation and it has a chance to sink their season before it starts. Kyler Murray joined the Minnesota Vikings this year and most expect him to start, but the Vikings haven't treated him like that so far and it is a mistake that could delay their chance to get back to 2024 form. Justin Herbert could take a massive leap forward for the Los Angeles Chargers and if he does, it could make them a dangerous team in the AFC. Staying in the AFC, the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars both need more from the quarterback spot if they want to escape the middle of the rat race in the NFL.

The Los Angeles Rams are significant Super Bowl favorites and have a great chance to win it all, but the offensive line could derail them, especially with the new legal issues their starting left tackle, Alaric Jackson, is facing. If Matthew Stafford were to be affected in any way, it would severely hinder the Rams chances. Coaching is the biggest concern with a lot of Super Bowl hopefuls, like the Seattle Seahawks, who have to replace Klint Kubiak at offensive coordinator. Similarly, the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens will also be dependent on their new coaching setups, in an even more meaningful way than Seattle. Both teams replaced their head coach and majority of the staff overall in hopes of taking their team to the next level. That puts a lot of pressure on new coaches with team that were already considered win-now. Finally, some of the teams with lesser odds are easier to poke holes through, but for the Kansas City Chiefs, it is all about Patrick Mahomes' health as the season begins and throughout. A less-than-stellar Mahomes won't be enough to push this Chiefs roster back to the big one.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been competitive since the moment Baker Mayfield came on board, but now they are in the midst of a contract battle that has both parties considering setting sail for better tides. This would be a mistake on the Bucs part as Mayfield would certainly have takers and has capitalized in this situation before. Jalen Hurts won a Super Bowl for the Philadelphia Eagles, but with AJ Brown now gone, the excuses leave too. Hurts needs to look himself in the mirror now for the Eagles to take a step forward. Two quarterbacks without rings, Joe Burrow and Josh Allen, could eventually consider a move, but Allen may be more likely even if it doesn't seem like it. CJ Stroud and Bryce Young are both looking for security with their teams, but both have had ups and downs that could have their squads second guessing. Finally, Jacoby Brissett decided not to hold out for the Arizona Cardinals, but he truly does deserve a raise before starting this season.
