The Carolina Panthers couldn't wait until Friday night to get their man as they opted to trade up one spot from 33rd overall to 32nd overall, in order to draft South Carolina WR Xavier Legette. Legette now comes to Carolina with Day 1 expectations as a playmaker on the outside for second-year QB Bryce Young. Can Legette live up to those expectations?

Locked On Gamecocks host Andrew Lyons joins Julian Council to provide context to Legette's career at South Carolina and to detail what the Panthers are getting out of the promising wide receiver.

The Carolina Panthers crossed off several boxes during the 2024 NFL Draft but still have several holes on the roster that will need to be addressed. While Carolina added DB Chau Smith-Wade over the weekend, Smith-Wade is expected to play the nickel role for Carolina as opposed to being an outside CB.

The Panthers also went through the draft without adding to the offensive line, in particular at center. Julian Council discusses the team's remaining needs as it heads into the next stage of the offseason.

One player who could immediately fix the Panthers depth issues at outside corner is Stephon Gilmore. Panthers GM Dan Morgan has mentioned Gilmore several times when asked about addressing the concerns in the secondary. Is it time for the Panthers to bring Gilmore into the fold?

The Panthers seven draft picks aren't the only new additions as Carolina begins to sign undrafted free agents. Julian reveals which signings he believes may have a chance to make the roster.

The 2024 NFL Draft has come to a close as the Carolina Panthers welcome a seven-man draft class to Charlotte. Carolina went in with several glaring needs and adequately addressed almost all of them through the three days in Detroit.

The biggest was the need to surround Bryce Young with more offensive talent. The Panthers wasted no time by trading into the first round to select South Carolina WR Xavier Legette, and then on Day 2, traded back then up in the second round to select Texas RB Jonathon Brooks. Finally, to begin Day 3 of the draft, Carolina addressed the hole at tight end by selecting Ja'Tavion Sanders from Texas.

The Panthers have undergone a makeover on defense as stalwarts Brian Burns, Donte Jackson, Frankie Luvu, and Jeremy Chinn all departed during the free agency period. Carolina added to all three levels by drafting Kentucky LB Trevin Wallace, in the third round, Washington State DB Chau Smith-Wade, in the fifth round, and then Mississippi State DT Jaden Crumedy and Michigan LB Michael Barrett, in the sixth and seventh rounds, respectively.

Julian provides is initial thoughts on the Panthers 2024 draft class.

The Carolina Panthers headed into the final day of the 2024 NFL Draft with glaring needs at tight end and cornerback and wasted no time on Saturday afternoon in Detroit by addressing those two positions. The Panthers opened the day by selecting Texas TE Ja'Tavion, who enters a tight end room lead by Tommy Tremble and Ian Thomas. Julian Council explains why he believes Sanders is the perfect complement to those two veterans.

Then, in the fifth round, the Panthers selected Washington State CB Chau Smith-Wade to add depth to the position group. Despite the addition of Smith-Wade, Julian believes that the door is open for Stephon Gilmore to make a return to Carolina.

During free agency, rebuilding the the offensive line was on of the Panthers main objectives, as the team struggled mightily on that side of the line of scrimmage in 2023. But it wasn't just the offensive side of the ball where the Panthers failed in the trenches. Outside of Derrick Brown, Carolina was arguable just as poor on the defensive line. To address that the Panthers brought in noted run stopper A'Shawn Robinson. But Robinson proved to not be the only offseason defensive line addition, as Carolina selected Mississippi State DT Jaden Crumedy late in Day 3.

With the Panthers final pick of the day, occurring in the seventh round, Carolina took another linebacker, selecting Michigan's Michael Barrett.

The Carolina Panthers had a busy Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft as Panthers GM Dan Morgan maneuvered his way up and down the draft board on Friday night. After the dust settled, Carolina ended up with another offensive weapon in Texas RB Jonathon Brooks, and a potential successor to Shaq Thompson, in Kentucky LB Trevin Wallace. Julian Council reacts to a entertaining Day 2 and why the Panthers plan appears to be addressing future needs opposed to be laser focused on the present.

While the Panthers addressed areas that weren't considered to be high priorities from outside the building, they've gone through the first two days without adding a tight end or cornerback. Will the Panthers use any of their four picks on Saturday to fill out these positions?

Breaking news on a Friday afternoon as Ian Rapoport reported that the Carolina Panthers have opted to exercise the fifth-year option on Jaycee Horn's contract. Through three years, Horn has proved himself to be one of the better cornerbacks in the league but has struggled to stay healthy, missing 29 of the first 51 games of his career. Did the Panthers make a sound financial gamble or is this too calculated of a risk? Julian Council reacts to the Panthers decision to reward Horn in 2025.
