Locked On Panthers - Daily Podcast On The Carolina Panthers

Following a 33-10 home loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the Carolina Panthers sit at 1-9 as they prepare to head on the road for their next three games. Julian Council looks back at the good, the bad, and the ugly from the loss to Dallas.

Despite the blowout loss, Frank Reich will coach for at least another week as the Panthers headman. Julian discusses why it may not make much sense for Panthers owner David Tepper to move on from Reich before the season concludes.

Plus, a few takeaways from Reich's Monday media availability.

The Carolina Panthers faced a road environment at home on Sunday as the Dallas Cowboys took over Bank of America Stadium. The result felt like a road game as well, as Carolina lost, 33-10, to Dallas, falling to 1-9 on the season.

One of the perceived strengths of the Panthers roster heading into the season was the offensive line. Still, thanks to several injuries on the interior along with a regression from some key players, that unit has turned out to be a weakness. On Sunday, the unit struggled against a dominant Dallas front allowing seven sacks. Julian Council discusses the regression of the offensive line.

The Panthers offense was once again unable to muster much momentum as they scored 10 points on Sunday. That has been a recurring theme along with the team's lack of discipline. Several defensive penalties resulted in extending Dallas drives. Julian discusses why this falls on coaching and is another argument against retaining head coach Frank Reich.

After another embarrassing loss at home, will Panthers owner David Tepper pull the plug on Reich?\

After failing to confirm that offensive coordinator would remain the Carolina Panthers offensive play-caller following the loss to Chicago, Panthers head coach Frank Reich revealed on Wednesday afternoon that he would be resuming playcalling duties on Sunday against Dallas. Julian Council tries to make sense of why this change would happen now, what it means for Brown, and whether this will be enough to save Reich's job.

The Panthers offensive line faces a tall task as they face off against Micah Parsons and a fierce Dallas Cowboys front. Julian provides his three keys to victory for the Panthers on Sunday.

In Matt Rhule's final game as the Panthers head coach the team was embarrassed at home in front of a partisan San Francisco 49ers crowd. The Panthers will likely face another Sunday at home with the stands dominated by the visiting team. If the scene and result is similar to last fall's 49ers contest, will David Tepper make a move on Reich, GM Scott Fitterer, or someone within the organization?

The 1-8 Carolina Panthers welcome the 6-3 Dallas Cowboys to Bank of America Stadium in Uptown Charlotte on Sunday in an NFC matchup. The Panthers will face the Cowboys after making another play-caller change on offense. Panthers head coach Frank Reich will resume the duties from offensive coordinator, Thomas Brown, after Brown led the charge for the past three weeks. Will this make enough of a difference for Carolina's offense against Dallas on Sunday?

Julian Council and Locked On Cowboys host Marcus Mosher discuss the top storylines, key matchups, and paths to victory on this Locked On NFL Crossover Thursday edition of Locked On Panthers.

The Carolina Panthers are a disappointing 1-8 in Year 1 of Frank Reich. The team has struggled to develop rookie QB Bryce Young and put together a successful offensive scheme and playmaker around him. This has called into question Reich's job status in Carolina. Reich is only a year removed from being fired after the Indianapolis Colts started the season 1-7. The Panthers opted to hire Reich instead of interim head coach Steve Wilks, who led the team to a 6-6 finish in 2022. In the event that Panthers owner David Tepper moves on from Reich, could he right a wrong and potentially lure Wilks back home to Charlotte?

GM Scott Fitterer appears to be next on the chopping block if there are changes to be made in Carolina. What will be Fitterer's downfall, the poor roster construction, unsuccessful trades, or the misfortune of being a scapegoat for the owner's misgivings?

The Panthers cut starting left guard Calvin Throckmorton on Tuesday. Theoretically, this will allow younger players such as Cade Mays and Chandler Zavala an opportunity to start in his place. Is it time for the Panthers to begin a youth movement on both sides of the ball?

Julian Council answers these questions among other listener questions in this week's edition of the Weekly Wednesday Mailbag on Locked On Panthers.

On Monday, Carolina Panthers star CB Jaycee Horn was designated to return from IR, opening his 21-day window to be activated. Horn has missed the past eight games due to a hamstring injury suffered in Week 1. When healthy Horn has proven to be a difference-maker. The issue is Horn has rarely been healthy during his Panthers career. Julian Council ponders whether Horn can make enough of an impact in the second half of the season to secure his future in Carolina.

Panthers head coach Frank Reich confirmed on Monday that no staff changes are forthcoming but he did not put to bed the possibility of retaking playcalling duties from offensive coordinator Thomas Brown. Julian explains why this change wouldn't solve the real issue in Carolina.

Plus, thoughts on the The Athletic's Dianna Russini report on the Panthers offensive struggles and David Newton's insights on a trio of players Carolina pursued at the trade deadline.

The Carolina Panthers offense hit rock bottom during a 16-13 loss to the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football. At 1-8, Frank Reich and his coaching staff are heading into a final eight-game stretch that will determine their futures in Carolina. While Reich ruled out making staff changes he didn't rule out taking back playcalling duties from Thomas Brown as the team has scored two offensive touchdowns in Brown's three games as the play-caller. Julian Council discusses the possibility of more changes on offense.

Bryce Young appeared to turn the corner in a walk-off win vs the Houston Texans in Week 8 but since then has had two straight rough outings. Julian explains why Young's development in the final eight games will determine the future of Frank Reich in Carolina.

The Panthers defense has suffered a multitude of injuries since the beginning of the season. Despite that, the unit has held strong since exiting the bye week. Julian takes a moment to praise the job that Ejiro Evero has done in 2023.

The Carolina Panthers offense hit a new low on Thursday Night Football as they posted a season-low 213 yards of offense combined with 12 first downs. Panthers head coach Frank Reich was chosen by owner David Tepper primarily due to his experience and offensive background. Up to this point, Reich and his staff have yet to produce even a middling offense by NFL standards. Julian Council discusses how the Panthers offense has finally hit rock bottom.

At 1-8, is it all but a certainty that Frank Reich will be a one-and-done in Carolina? Reich's offense has been a failure. The players that were brought in to assist Bryce Young haven't panned out. What more does Tepper need to see? Julian makes the case for keeping and firing Reich.

The root cause of the Carolina Panthers failures has been Tepper's involvement within the organization. Even if he makes changes, will that yield better results in the future? Julian believes that the fan base is at the mercy of the owner.
