Locked On Saints - Daily Podcast On The New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints have already made waves in NFL free agency after the NFL Draft by signing LSU Tiger Tyrann Mathieu and Jarvis Landry, could Odell Beckham Jr. be next? Targets will be a question, of course, but if OBJ finds himself available as the season begins, the Saints could be in need if any injuries set in.

Mickey Loomis, Khai Hartley and the Saints continue their salary cap gymnastics with a major draft class, impact free agents, and money still left to spend. Was missing on Deshaun Watson the best thing to happen to them this offseason? And why are people so mad about the Saints ways? Evidence shows that NFL teams that spend money, win games. Darrel Williams and Kwon Alexander are two names to watch over the coming weeks.

In case you missed it, the saints signed Jarvis Landry, Sean Payton signs with FOX, Drew Brees could join him if he’s out at NBC, several roster moves lead to a reunion with Devine Ozigbo, and the Saints are building their already strong culture with Louisiana ties. A week in New Orleans Saints news.

The New Orleans Saints contract for Jarvis Landry is an absolute steal and shows you that they expect him to be a major contributor next to Michael Thomas and Chris Olave. It also shows how much Landry wanted to join the team, especially after his conversation with Jameis Winston.

Saints assistant offensive line coach and team legend Zach Strief spoke with Brooke Kirchhoffer and WWL-TV about first-round NFL Draft pick Trevor Penning, his development, expectations, and the long road ahead of him.

Darrel Williams was in New Orleans, what's next? Jameis Winston is working as if he'll be full go at training camp. PFF ranks Saints last in "Salary cap health" rankings, and Ron Dayne ranks Alvin Kamara as a top-5 running back in today's NFL.

The New Orleans Saints were last in the NFL in passing yards during the 2021 season but now Jameis Winston and Pete Carmichael have Michael Thomas back along with the additions of Jarvis Landry and Chris Olave. Here's how they, along with Alvin Kamara, Taysom Hill, Deonte Harty and others will help the Saints revitalize the passing game in New Orleans.

Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees fired off a tweet after reports suggested he would not be back with NBC after the 2021 season. In it, he included a quip that he may return to football and Saints fans went berserk. Will Brees actually return to the gridiron?

The Saints' 2022 NFL offseason thus far has been an eventful one. Losing key pieces like Marcus Williams, Malcolm Jenkins and Terron Armstead while gaining big names like Tyrann Mathieu, Jarvis Landry, Chris Olave, and Marcus Maye. How does this offseason stack up to those in recent past like the phenomenal 2017 draft that yielded Marshon Lattimore, Ryan Ramczyk, Alvin Kamara, and more?

Will the Saints win double-digit games this season? After giving a win-loss projection that predicted a 12-5 season, it's hard to be down on the Saints. Especially in a weak NFC conference.

The New Orleans Saints wide receiver room has taken on an entirely new identity with Michael Thomas, Jarvis Landry, and Chris Olave now leading off the depth chart. How Thomas, Landry, and Olave will immediately improve the Saints' offense with precision and playmaking ability.

Jarvis Landry was the perfect addition to the Saints locker room as an on- and off-field leader as well. He believes it's a part of who he is and massively important to him as a player.

Chris Olave, Trevor Penning, and Alontae Taylor are already making waves at rookie camp. So too are UDFAs Dai'Jean Dixon, Lucas Krull, and Abram Smith.

The Saints' 2022 NFL schedule starts off with opportunities for a hot start. Playing quarterbacks like Marcus Mariota/Desmond Ridder, Sam Darnold/Matt Corral, and Kirk Cousins gives them the chance for a very necessary quick start. Playing Tom Brady, who the defense has performed extremely well against in the past, isn't a bad shake out either.

The New Orleans Saints have signed Jarvis Landry, solidifying the offense alongside Michael Thomas, Chris Olave, Alvin Kamara and Jameis Winston. The Saints are ready to compete in a weakened NFC and ready to fight for the NFC South.

Jarvis Landry brings a great piece to help the Saints and Jameis Winston attack all three levels of opposing defenses, he also brings a veteran leader to the offense. The issues the Saints experienced at wide receiver in 2021 should be no more heading into 2022.

Kwon Alexander should be the nest LSU player returning to New Orleans. At least that would help to keep the momentum and fan excitement up. But running back and tight end would be some interesting additions as well to help continue to elevate the offense for Dennis Allen and Pete Carmichael.

The New Orleans Saints schedule is now official, and based on their road schedule, opposing quarterbacks, and early/late division matchups, the Saints should be a playoff team in 2022. Jameis Winston, Michael Thomas, Chris Olave, Tyrann Mathieu, Demario Davis, Marshon Lattimore, and Cameron Jordan should be able to lead this team to postseason play. Win-loss projections for each game.

The first eight games have very winnable matchups that would allow New Orleans to capitalize and build momentum before the toughest stretch of their season. The Big Easy will play host tot he Baltimore Ravens to open up a tough five-game gauntlet including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Beginning with that gauntlet, New Orleans will also travel away from home much more in the back half of their schedule than the top. And with more divisional games to close out the final five weeks with a late bye, a hot Saints early start would be massively important.

The New Orleans Saints 2022 NFL schedule will be made official Thursday night, but some games have already been reported and the Saints have early divisional tests against the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Carolina Panthers. New Orleans will have a chance to establish their identity and standing within the division before their Week 4 trip to London.

For the first time in what feels like forever, the Saints will have a late bye week. Reports are the Week 14 bye is set for New Orleans and will separate a couple of big conference matchups against the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles. New Orleans fought through tie-breakers with these teams last season, a late-season surge in 2022 will help to avoid the same situation.

Three primetime games and two holiday games (plus London) mean the Saints are still a popular draw for the NFL. A Christmas Eve trip to take on the Cleveland Browns and a New Year's celebration in Philadelphia set the Saints up to confirm the identity they can hopefully establish early before. a potential postseason run.

The New Orleans Saints have done it again with Tyrann Mathieu's contract. The deal will allow the Saints to continue to pursue more NFL free agents like Jarvis Landry, Phillip Lindsay and others.

Mickey Loomis and Khai Harley are two of the best when it comes to player contracts and navigating the salary cap and they've done it again with Tyrann Mathieu's new deal.

sixth-round NFL Draft selection Jordan Jackson from Air Force should compete for snaps in 2022. He doesn't have to earn a starting role to impact the Saints defensive line thanks to their rotation. He'll compete with Shy Tuttle, Kentavius Street, Jaleel Johnson, and others to take snaps next to David Onyemata. His athletic upside should set him apart early as long as he can develop his technique.

Chris Olave is set to have a massive impact on the New Orleans Saints offense across from Michael Thomas and catching passes from Jameis Winston. Locked On Buckeyes host Jay Stephens joins to talk Olave being the perfect hit for Dennis Allen and the Saints.

The New Orleans Saints selected App State linebacker D'Marco Jackson in the NFL Draft's fifth round. While he's widely regarded as a core special teamer in terms of expectation, if Kwon Alexander isn't back in New Orleans, the Saints could turn to him to help on defense as well behind Demario Davis and Pete Werner.

Even after the rookie class and Tyrann Mathieu signing, the Saints absolutely have enough money to sign any free agent, including Jarvis Landry. Beyond Jarvis Landry, another home run offseason move would be extending C.J. Gardner-Johnson early.

Ahead of the NFL's schedule release this week, it's clear that the most exciting Saints game this season will be hosting the Cincinnati Bengals, joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and other LSU stars in the Superdome. Michael Thomas will be the most impactful non-QB when it comes to the Saints' success this season.
