Locked On Saints - Daily Podcast On The New Orleans Saints

New Orleans Saints have a ton of NFL Draft capital at the top of the draft, could they pivot one of those picks in the trade market for Deebo Samuel, DK Metcalf, or Tyler Lockett? Two might not make a ton of sense, but one would be the perfect veteran complement opposite Michael Thomas and his return.

Will Deebo Samuel be able to produce outside of a Shanahan system? Or will he go the route of many other playmakers and suffer beyond the San Francisco 49ers scheme?

Without Russell Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks may be looking to sell off some of their weapons as they enter a possible rebuild. The Saints could capitalize on that to build their offense not only for now, but the next few seasons.

Trey Wingo discusses New Orleans Saints' thought process and many possibilities acquiring two first round picks from the Philadelphia Eagles in recent NFL Draft changing trade. While Malik Willis and Kenny Pickett to be in play, the Saints maybe more focused on Jameson Williams and other wide receivers and building around Jameis Winston.

Could the new flexibility for the Saints extend beyond the NFL Draft? Trading picks for veteran players has been a proven recipe for success, see the Los Angeles Rams, and now with two first round selections, the Saints could get in on that strategy as well. But giving up the ability to cost control could be too much risk.

Taco Charlton and Justin Evans both have pretty clear reasons they signed with the New Orleans Saints this offseason. Proving yet again that New Orleans remains a free agency destination.

The New Orleans Saints trade with the Philadelphia Eagles could help to force the hands of NFC South, QB-needy teams like the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons due to the fear of the Saints coming for one of their favorite quarterback prospects. What that means for the Saints is that the offensive tackles and wide receivers will fall easily to the 16 and 19. All of sudden, Trevor Penning, Jameson Williams, Chris Olave, and several other top prospects could fall right into their lap thanks to the panic of other teams.

Testing this theory with a 7-round mock draft allows the Saints to land a top tackle, playmaking wideout, and top-50 talent at safety while giving them the breathing room to address more spots on defense and doubling up at wideout late.

Top-30 visits are under way as the pre-draft process of the NFL offseason heats up. Jameson Williams Treylon Burks, Skyy Moore, Eric Johnson, Dameon Pierce, and Andrew Booth Jr have all visited New Orleans thus far.

NFL Rumors continue around the New Orleans Saints being in pursuit of a quarterback in this year's NFL Draft after their trade up with the Philadelphia Eagles. Whether it's Malik Willis, Kenny Pickett or otherwise, it seems that the Saints may not have their eyes fixed on just a QB, but perhaps a tackle like Trevor Penning, Charles Cross, Evan Neal, or Ikem Ekwonu.

Meanwhile another selection may be able to go to a top wide receiver like Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Drake London or otherwise. And the Saints are wasting no time getting to know that WR class welcoming in Jameson Williams, Treylon Burks, and Skyy Moore for pre-draft visits. Oh, they also brought the Honey Badger back to town, welcoming Tyrann Mathieu on a free agency visit as well.

What the Eagles do at 15 and 18 could immediately impact the Saints at 16 and 19 in the NFL draft's first round. Louie DiBiase shares his thoughts on Philadelphia's plan and more.

The New Orleans Saints pull off a huge trade with the Philadelphia Eagles and now hold two first-round picks at 16 and 19 in this year's NFL Draft. After this move, the Saints can do just about anything they want in the draft including trading up for Malik Willis, staying put for Kenny Pickett and a wide receiver like Chris Olave, or an offensive tackle like Trevor Penning. The options for the Saints are now endless as they set an aggressive tone for their draft strategy.

Why the Saints should stay put at 16 and 19 and how they can maximize their capital at key positions across the offense while still adding great pieces late.

The New Orleans Saints could trade up for a tackle like Trevor Penning or Charles Cross, but don't need to in order to find their best prototypical fit at the position. How Bernhard Raimann solves the problem at tackle for the Saints while allowing them to go for a playmaker at wide receiver.

Jameson Williams brings a little risk as he recovers from his late-season injury, but the reward he brings is well worth it. The Alabama wide receiver kicks off New Orleans Saints 7-round mock draft.

PJ Williams is back, what does that mean for the Saints and how do they keep getting him at such value deals? What is phase one of the Saints offseason?

Will losing Malcolm Jenkins hurt the New Orleans Saints defense? It's likely unless they're able to find a complementary piece next to Marcus Maye. But the loss of Jenkins compiled with the loss of Marcus Williams could cause some big issues in communication and coverage in the backend.

The loss of Jenkins does save the Saints some money. The salary cap implications of his retirement will take a moment to be seen, though.

Penn State's Jaquan Brisker and Baylor's Jalen Pitre would be ideal options to replace Jenkins if the Saints went the NFL Draft route. If not replacing him directly, they have enough versatility to allow the Saints the chance to move pieces around in the secondary.

New Orleans Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins retires from the NFL and Tyrann Mathieu would be the perfect replacement. Mathieu's veteran experience, leadership, and ability to communicate on defense would be exactly what the Saints need for Marcus Maye, Marshon Lattimore, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and Paulson Adebo.

Gardner-Johnson himself could be a good replacement in-house as well. But if the Saints want to go the familiarity route, no matter what bringing back P.J. Williams is a good idea.

Darrion Gray of Locked On HBCU talks Florida A&M University safety Markquese Bell and why he'd be a good fit for New Orleans.
