Locked On SEC – Daily College Football & Basketball Podcast

On today's show, we explore the possibility of Florida State joining the SEC down the road as the Seminoles and Clemson continue with their lawsuits vs the ACC - and while in Destin for the SEC Meetings this week, Florida AD Scott Stricklin was asked if the Gators would be on board with welcoming their rival into the SEC in the future?

And could the Florida-Georgia rivalry go from neutral site to being played on their campuses in the near future? Meanwhile, the SEC is planning a HUGE welcome party for both Texas and Oklahoma as they officially become members on July 1st this summer. But did the Texas AD say that the Texas-Oklahoma rivalry is better than all the other SEC rivalry games, including the Iron Bowl?!?

Also, some huge news for Alabama basketball as Mark Sears is returning for one more season as Nate Oats and the Tide look to build off their Final Four run last season.

Day 1 of SEC Meetings in Destin got underway on Tuesday and we heard from many of the SEC Football Coaches as they addressed the media and spoke on a number of topics. But one of the biggest topics facing the immediate future of college football - with the House vs NCAA settlement and revenue sharing coming, will we see a change in "roster limitations", potentially trimming rosters down to as low as 85 players, and potentially the elimination of walk-ons. Needless to say, several coaches like Shane Beamer and Mike Elko are not fans (especially when you consider Beamer himself was a walk-on!)

We also get quotes from Alabama's Kalen DeBoer, Georgia's Kirby Smart and Arkansas' Sam Pittman. In addition, we hear Florida coach Billy Napier address the Jaden Rashada lawsuit, Steve Sarkisian and Brent Venables talked about Texas & Oklahoma joining the conference, while Auburn coach Hugh Freeze gave an update on RB Brian Battie who was injured in a serious shooting recently.

And Lane Kiffin says that Kirby Smart is now the "lead" in the SEC coaches meetings with Nick Saban now retired.

As the SEC Meetings get underway over in Destin, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey spoke with the media on Monday evening and touched on a number of big topics, including  - could we see Injury Reports come to the SEC in the near future? In the ever expanding world of sports betting, the SEC could follow others and begin providing weekly "Player Availability Reports", or as we call them injury reports, providing as much information as possible to fans.

In addition, Sankey comments on the House vs NCAA settlement which will change the landscape of revenue sharing with players in the near future, as well as the Jaden Rashada lawsuit, the future of SEC scheduling & much more.

Also, SEC Baseball makes history with ELEVEN teams making the NCAA Tournament field. We dissect the draws for all the SEC teams that made the tourney, including the top 3 seeds in Tennessee, Kentucky and Texas A&M.

On today's show, we catch up with Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko as he made an appearance at the Aggie Coach's Night, getting Aggie fans excited for the 2024 college football season. Elko gives this thoughts on his team coming out of spring, College Gameday coming to College Station in Week 1 for the Notre Dame game & more.

Also, we discuss the monumental settlement between the Houston vs NCAA that will ultimately lead to schools being able to share some of their revenue with student athletes. According to reports, the future revenue-sharing model could take effect as early as Fall 2025, with many SEC schools expected to be able to share upwards of $22 million in revenue with players. We discuss the ramifications and some of the pros and cons.

And we go Around The Conference, as Ole Miss OC Charlie Weis Jr becomes the highest-paid offensive coordinator in the SEC, former Rebels RB Kedrick Reescano picks a new school, a Florida d-lineman is in hot water, and projections have the SEC getting 11 baseball teams into the postseason - but will they get that many?

Follow the show: Locked On Sports Today - Daily Podcast Covering The Biggest Sports Stories

The Indiana Pacers missed their chance in Game 1 and after Game 2 … it’s getting late early. Also, the Cavaliers fired JB Bickerstaff, but this was NOT a scapegoating. And there’s a simple reason why the Suns and Lakers should not have gotten multiple players on the All-NBA teams.

On today's show, we're joined by our buddy Jake Crain as we get his thoughts on the news of ESPN sublicensing some of their early round playoff games to TNT Sports, how different will that be from the ESPN broadcasts? Any chance we get Charles Barkley and Shaq on CFB Playoff games?

And we get Jake's thoughts on the fallout of the Jaden Rashada lawsuit vs Billy Napier and more.

Also, we ask Jake Crain to give us an "Underrated" team currently in the SEC, and one that might be a tad "Overrated" so far this offseason. Who makes the lists? Texas? Texas A&M? Auburn? Alabama? We discuss!

Introducing Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving carried the Mavericks over the Timberwolves from Locked On Sports Today - Daily Podcast Covering The Biggest Sports Stories.

Follow the show: Locked On Sports Today - Daily Podcast Covering The Biggest Sports Stories

With all the love heading to Anthony Edwards, Luka Doncic reminded us in Game one HE was the MVP finalist. Plus, does it make sense for the Jaguars to pay Trevor Lawrence like a top 10 QB when… he’s never been one of those? And Jayden Daniels has an argument to be favored over Caleb Williams for NFL Rookie of the Year.

On today's show, we're reacting to the news of Georgia QB Jaden Rashada filing a lawsuit against Florida head coach Billy Napier and several others, saying they defrauded him of millions pertaining to a $13.85 million NIL agreement that fell through. Rashada becomes the first college athlete to sue a coach and/or a booster over a dispute pertaining to an NIL deal. Not a great look with Napier already on the hot seat this year.

Also, ESPN's Mark Schlabach releases his college football Post-Spring Top 25 Rankings - we'll run through all the SEC teams he has ranked in his post spring rankings. He has eight SEC teams ranked in the top 18 of his rankings. Who can live up to the hype in 2024?

Ole Miss continues to add to their backfield this offseason, reportedly adding former Miami of Ohio RB Rashad Amos, along with former Georgia State RB Domonique Thomas. This is on top of them already adding this offseason New Mexico transfer RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Miami RB Henry Parrish Jr and LSU RB Logan Diggs, all to add with returning RB Ulysses Bentley. Can a few of these guys step up and replace the production of Quinshon Judkins?

Also, another Georgia football player arrested on a traffic related incident, this time in freshman receiver Sacovie White. Why can't Georgia players stop committing violations when it comes to driving? And some tragic news over at Auburn as RB Brian Battie was reportedly shot over the weekend, as we hope the best for him. In addition, Florida adds WR Elijhah Badger, while LSU loses a commitment from top WR Dakorien Moore.

And we recap the weekend of SEC Regionals in Softball, and we get ready for the bracket of the SEC Baseball Tournament in Hoover.
