Locked On Stars - Daily Podcast On The Dallas Stars

On today's episode of Locked On Stars, we rank every single Dallas Stars jersey in Franchise History. The Stars have had some pretty sweet sweaters throughout the years, so why not put them into categories with the help of tier maker. Joey goes through each jersey and places them into a category with "S" being the best and so on and so forth. What is your All-Time favorite jersey the Stars have had and what is your least favorite? For the final segment, Joey shares an article about a lawsuit initiated by the Canadien Hockey League on the NCAA. The CHL alleges the NCAA is violating antitrust laws by not allowing players a shot to play in the NCAA after appearing in games in the CHL. If the CHL wins, how would this affect college hockey and programs throughout the country? On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey leads off with the NHL Network's Top 20 Wingers in the NHL right now which features Jason Robertson at number six. Robertson comes off a season with just 80 points after 109 the previous season, however he still led the team and made an impact. Joey believes with the departure of Joe Pavelski, his numbers will skyrocket again with the addition of Wyatt Johnston on his right wing. Is number six too high, too low, or just right for Robo? In the second segment, we rank the projected top sixes amongst the Central Division. Joey believes the Stars are the clear cut #1, but Colorado and Nashville make a strong case to dethrone them. In the final segment, we look at Jake Oettinger's chances to make Team USA's roster for the Four Nations Faceoff. Can he make the squad over Jeremy Swaymen, Connor Helleybuck and Thatcher Demko? On today's episode of Locked On Stars, an article by David Castillo on DMagazine highlights Roope Hintz's last season and shows he still ranks amongst the best in the NHL despite a "down" season. Hintz produced 65 points in 80 games last season while eclipsing the 30 goal mark for the third consecutive season, but many would argue it was not a great season for Roope. Castillo compares Roope's season amongst his Selke Trophy peers and highlights just how effective Hintz was even without flashing a ton during last season. In the second segment, we have an update on Thomas Harley's extension, GM Jim Nill told the Dallas Morning News he was not concerned and that they would more than likely have a deal done before training camp. In the final segment, the Dallas Stars signed Magnus Hellberg to a two-way one year contract. Hellberg is a goalie that will serve as the backup to Remi Porier down with the Texas Stars in the AHL after Matt Murray departed after the season. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey explains why he believes Dallas Stars goalie Jake Oettinger will have a career year next season. Otter's last season was funky, dealing with an injury midway through the season, inconsistent play while posting his statistical worst season of his young career but still being named an All-Star. Joey compares the first four seasons of Oettinger to other greats such as Carey Price, Marc-Andre Fluery and Andrei Vasilevskiy and predicts Otter will put together his best season and be a Vezina finalist. Also, NHL Network put out their Top 10 goalies right now list and Oettinger comes in at seven. Is it too high or too low? Or is it just right in your opinion? Joey dissects the list and proposes changes he would make to it at this point. In the final segment, Joey takes a look at what Oettinger will have to improve on next season using Sean Shapiro's latest article as a guide. Should Dallas Stars legend Jere Lehtinen be in the Hockey Hall of Fame? Today's headline question of this mailbag episode of Locked On Stars is why or why not Lehtinen should be in the HOF. Joey makes his case on why he should be and also shares where his resume may not stack up with others. The remainder of the episode features Joey answering listener questions revolving around Jamie Benn's future with Dallas after this season, should the Stars have locked up Jason Robertson long term instead of a bridge deal and plenty more!
