The Twins, in a surprising move, chose to non-tender 2020 breakout reliever Matt Wisler. Wisler posted a 1.07 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings this summer. The waiver-wire addition was productive in multiple roles, including as an opener, a closer and a middle reliever. More unsurprisingly, the Twins did not pick up Eddie Rosario's contract for his final year of arbitration, making him a free agent. Setting that aside for now, we dive into a potential intriguing trade option from the St.Louis Cardinals, Carlos Martínez.

Eddie Rosario was placed on outright waivers Tuesday. The Twins, along with 29 other teams, determined Rosario wasn't worth the $10 million or so he's projected to make in his final year of arbitration. Lucas discusses Rosario's fit with the Cardinals, along with what it would take to pry Jack Flaherty away in a trade this winter.

Former Twin Trevor May is now a member of the New York Mets, inking a two-year deal with Steve Cohen's new team. May ranks second to Taylor Rogers in fWAR among Twins relievers since 2018. The deal is reportedly worth $15 million, an average annual value of $7.5 million. Why didn't the Twins bring him back? Let's speculate on that and more.

Nelson Cruz has recently expressed his desire to wait out free agency in hopes of 15 more clubs vying for his services via the universal DH. He could be coveted by more than a handful of teams, prompting the Twins to have to meet his demand of a two year deal.
J.D. Martinez also has two years (one player option) remaining on his contract for just under $40 million. The 33-year-old slugger struggled like many stars in 2020, but is a prime bounce back candidate on a Red Sox team that has shown a willingness to trade salary. Should the Twins be interested? What would it cost? Is it worth it?

The Rays, according to Mark Feinsand, are open to trading Blake Snell this offseason. Snell is under team control for three more years at an average of $13.6 million per year. The Braves struck again by signing Snell's now-former teammate, Charlie Morton for one year and $15 million. Plus, what should the Twins do about their catching situation after Ryan Jeffers thrived and Mitch Garver struggled in 2020?

Mitch Garver posted one of the best offensive seasons in MLB history in 2019. He struggled mightily in the shortened 2020 campaign, frequently swinging through fastballs and the like. What happened? Should the Twins take advantage and sign him to an extension?
