Locked On Twins - Daily Podcast On The Minnesota Twins

The deadline to add eligible minor leaguers to the 40-man roster was Friday at 5 p.m. The Twins added three, two pitchers and a catcher. What does this mean about these three in the Twins' future plans?

The Twins went 9-6 over their last 15 games, doing just enough to win their second straight A.L. Central title and draw the 29-31 Astros in the first round. Everything fell into place for the Twins. Play at home, against a losing team, on the easier side of the bracket. Let's break down the final quarter of the season while analyzing the anchors and the carriers.

The Twins lost six straight games in the third quarter of the 2020 season. With their division championship hopes on the line, Byron Buxton and Josh Donaldson returned to finish off the White Sox in convincing fashion at Target Field. The Twins took that momentum and beat Detroit four out of five times over the weekend. Listen for the quarter's biggest trends, how reinforcements impacted things, and what it means for 2021.

The Twins got off to a 10-5 start in odd fashion. The offense only scored early, Randy Dobnak was a menace, and the team was the best in the league with runners in scoring position. Who were the leaders, trailers and headlines over the first quarter of the 2020 season?

Plus, notes on Jake Odorizzi.

The Twins found hidden value in Kenta Maeda and his profile when they traded for him in February. Where could value be on this free agent market? Garrett Richards throws hard, throws a good slider, and may be overlooked because of health concerns and varying surface numbers. Let's dive in to the exciting 32-year-old right-hander from Riverside, California.

José Abreu has hurt the Twins for many years. The White Sox star has now captured his first MVP award, beating out DJ LeMahieu and José Ramírez for the honor. Abreu led the White Sox to a 35-25 record and into their first postseason since 2012. For the second straight year, Nelson Cruz finished in the top-10. Byron Buxton gets respect, and Eddie Rosario catches a vote too.

Marcus Stroman was the second best starting pitcher on the free agent market before he accepted the 1-year, $18.9 million qualifying offer to return to the Mets. The attention now shifts to Kevin Gausman, who is the only player left to make his decision on the QO. Could the Twins be making Gausman multi-year deals as we speak? Should they?

The Twins need to fill two utility roles this winter. One of them needs to play shortstop and the other needs to have a better bat than Marwin did in 2020. Tommy La Stella fits the latter mold and is a free agent. Should the Twins target him? Does it make sense for both sides?
