On Thursday, the WNBA, WNBPA, the African American Policy Forum, and select members of the media heard from #SayHerName founder Dr. Kimberlé Crenshaw and two mothers who's daughters were murdered by police officers. The conference call was part of The Justice Movement, a Muti-faceted approach to education, action, and amplification of social justice by the league. You will also hear a special message from recording artist Janelle Monáe and Dr. Crenshaw weight in on Atlanta Dream owner Kelly Loeffler.

Today's episode is named after a quote from Gina Best, mother of India Kager. During the call, she expressed how overcome with emotion she was that the WNBA was helping continue the legacy of her daughter and so many other daughters and mothers.

The WNBA is off-and-running but fans got some bad news in the form of an injury to Sabrina Ionescu. Gabe and Amy dive into Sabrina’s likely season-ending sprained ankle and everything else from a great week of basketball. They start off by breaking down what Sabrina’s injury means for the New York Liberty and the WNBA’s promotional tactics. Then, they get deep into the Phoenix Mercury getting two nice wins and how Diana Taurasi’s attacking mentality is driving their success. Finally, the Miami duo picks their most surprising players where they discuss Myisha Hines-Allen of the Washington Mystics, Betnijah Laney of the Atlanta Dream, and Phoenix’s Bria Hartley. Gabe takes an early season L for his offseason criticism of Hartley’s contract.

Howard Megdal is joined by Atlanta Dream head coach Nicki Collen. The two discuss bubble life, with Collen sharing insights about life amid the WNBA player and coaches in Bradenton, Florida. They discuss at length Chennedy Carter, her capabilities and skills. There's plenty of talk about how the Dream are different from the 2019 squad that finished 8-26, and why the 2020 team is miles away from last year's version at both the offensive and defensive ends.

The first weeknight of the WNBA season did not disappoint with the Chicago Sky and Seattle Storm wowing in big wins. On this Locked On Women's Basketball, Gabe and Amy discuss everything from Tuesday’s triple header. They get into what is making the Chicago Sky so good early (hint: Courtney Vandersloot) and if Los Angeles Sparks fans should be concerned. Then, the Miami crew talks about Miami’s own Sylvia Fowles grabbing the WNBA’s career rebounding record, the Washington Mystics’ perfect start, and the Connecticut Sun’s current dilemma with DeWanna Bonner playing so much. They wrapped up by looking ahead to a wonderful slate of Wednesday games including Angel McCoughtry’s first game against her former team, the Atlanta Dream.
